The SIGGRAPH Technical Papers program is the premier international forum for disseminating new scholarly work in computer graphics and interactive techniques. *Christmas for Geeks - Siggraph Technical Papers Preview* Okay cheezy voice over aside pause and actually checkout the titles of the papers. Some really exciting stuff! Mind blowing cool stuff a few of which could define the games we make in a few years. Animation space is getting interesting for example.

I like the old style preview trailers more. This is a bit oversimplified and the papers aren't interesting me as much.

WHOA! The "Inverse-Foley Animation: Synchronizing Rigid-Body Motions to Sound" and "3D Object Manipulation in a Single Photograph using Stock 3D Models" look INSANE. "High-Contrast Computational Caustic Design" is pretty cool too!

That was such a silly video thanks to the narrator giving a more liberal commentary than the technical things going on. Anyway, the technical feats here are amazing, and the narrator does seem to like describing what is happening on screen with some of the demonstrations looking a bit silly if it weren't for demonstrating some new technical thing. Hopefully these technologies get used in some way for a purpose, as some do seem to be usable in life while others tend to be more of a technical demonstration.
