In this video I conduct a similar test to see how they perform in talking head / interview situations.
I thought it would be useful to see how much you can fit in the frame at distances from 1-3 metres.

As others have stated, we searched thru RU-vid for a video such as this one. It wasn't easy! There are many such videos but all fall short in terms of what people are looking for. I have a podcast channel and was thinking about using a different lens that would fit my needs. Your video was exactly what I was looking for: there was measured distance, you put the lenses thru their use, and it was important for me to see how much background information would appear in the video. 2 meters with 30mm is my choice But most of us like the mic just on the top of the camera so 1 meter with 16mm is still hard to let go

Yes agreed - mic positioning does start to become a factor - keep toying with the idea of getting a Rode Wireless Go kit

Hey Monica, i agree that is the best overall look. I would go with that lens, and invest in a mic stand to hover over your head at that distance for audio quality or just get a lav mic then your problems are solved. I invested in the 16mm as well, now I wish I bought the 30 instead, however, they both have their uses and it might be good to switch them up for different videos or within videos so its not a loss!

This video is absolutely underrated and deserves way more views. Time and time again, I visited this video to get a good comparison of the lens for my Sony A6000, and this video never fails. I'm not sure why this video is so hard to find. It truly is a hidden gem. I got exactly what I needed in order to do videos at home with my Sigma 30mm.
