My brother laughed quite a bit it was unnerving for the family but he seemed happy enough. I would hear him whispering through the wall that separated our bedrooms. He smoked incessantly and paced constantly when he went off his anti-psychotics delusions and hallucinations would start. Then we got him in a group home where living there depended on regular visits to the psychiatrist for his drugs to be injected as they could not trust him to take them. He died of untreated esophageal cancer in the 3rd year of the covid. He never even called to say he was ill.

This happened to me. To be clear I haven’t been diagnosed with schizophrenia but I have been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder. The short answer is that being aware doesn’t prevent you from having it because schizophrenia is a brain disease and not just a “mental disorder.” I realized I had a problem when I read a book describing my symptoms and then found out it was schizophrenia. I thought I could tough it out and force myself to be normal and aware of reality. It WAS helpful to have good insight, but over time I just got more paranoid, more hallucinations, more cognitive issues, until I finally asked for help. That being said, I would NOT worry about this if I were you. Worry won’t save you, and if you DO have any distressing symptoms you should see a professional as soon as possible. Schizophrenia isn’t something that happens to old people, except in rare cases. If you’re past your 30’s it most likely isn’t happening.

It is likely. I watched my friend develop it. Even if she doesn't want to go with you, go to speak with a psychiatrist who might give you tips on how to approach her. The sad truth is people might need to crash before they admit something is wrong with them.

Please know you hold dominion over your mind and they must go. I've tried with my anxiety and it works. I also did it with the psychic attacks I was having. The first time I had voices telling me to off myself. I cried out to the Mother of all Mothers to take them, and she did. I learned I, too have the Power. If you really care for him and live him stick it out. But he has to help himself for you to help him. I'm mentally ill and tried to explain this to 2 ex gf. One is the mother of my son. Both left me. When things was good and I was carrying guns and gang banging they lived me and now when I'm down they just kicked me. I've been broken since she took my boy away. Like 5 years now. Then that same night while I was brushing my teeth I overheard her talking to herself like replying conversations in real time then when I asked her were you just talking to yourself she said “no.” Her decision making is one moment one thing then the next thing she chooses a totally different choice like all the time with everything. She will buy something and then later decide that it’s not what she needs and then she will try selling it or giving it away. Questionable decision making. Her eyes don’t really inability to concentrate and she will forget some things that we already talked about so memory problems She doesn’t like going around a lot of people she prefers being more in isolation it’s a rare thing when she gets out and joins me for a family dinner visit with some of my family rarely. Behavior and mood changes , sleeping patterns is off she wakes up in the middle of the night, Doesn’t take accountability for actions. Doesn’t seem to have many friends and her family members barely contact her even though she reaches out to them😢 I don’t understand that and she has had a bad experience in a marriage with her ex husband taking advantage of her financially but she still is helpful and supportive to her family members 🥹
