I have some perspective on the "friend zone." It may not always be a problem. My brother briefly met a lovely woman at church when she and her brother came to sing. Later when he began attending a local college to study Vocal Pedagogy, they met up again and became close "friends." He began to have more romantic feelings for her, but valued her friendship, and described her as his best friend, but was debating whether or not to pursue a more serious, romantic relationship with her. Being that I was 5 years older than him, he came to me and asked my advice. My answer was short and sweet. I said, "friends can always become lovers, but lovers may not often be friends. Furthermore, if she is a woman of good character, how much better can a man do than to marry his best friend?" To make a long story short, they've been married for 38 years, have two grown sons, both in the ministry and 7 delightful grandchildren. At the wedding reception, she came to me, hugged me and whispered in my ear, "Thank you, thank you for giving him that advice. I was feeling the same way, but didn't want to make the first move!" The moral here is this, if you don't share a set of common values, beliefs about life, spiritual matters and goals, then after the 2-3 year honeymoon period, the relationship can degrade into a difficult one. You can "love" (be infatuated with, or lust after, but not true love), but not really like them as a person, i.e., their personality, moral character, attitudes, etc.

Hey Coach Melanie, my question is that there is a girl I like and we swim and train together and we talk together sometimes. She sometimes lean towards me and talks to me first. Do you thinks she likes me? There’s also one thing: she brushes past me a few times, but that is when we are in the pool and we were getting our stuff by the pool side so I’m not sure about this.

I like how she giggles and smiles everytime she says "it's because she liiikes youuuu" as if I'm supposed to be happy about it, when in reality a friend like this would be the #1 problem I'd rather not deal with especially while I'm in the process of pursuing someone else.

Several years ago this one girl at one of my places of work was coming on much to strong for me. I mean she was way too aggressive. I was both somewhat stunned and at first didn't know what to do. I wanted to somehow deflect her away from me and at the same time not be rude about it. Then I achieved my desired results almost without even trying. It happened within the course of a conversation. She never looked at me the same way once that she FOUNDOUT that I liked watching Pee Wee Herman.

Love your videos the really help I like this girl in my course shes really girly and first I wasn't sure if she was even into girls and found out she is . now where friends .but can see some of these signs and will see how it goes 🙂
