Great review and all solid points. I love that I can break it down and put it to the side when my wife needs to park in the garage. I’m also a hacker/master divot taker and it will grab your club, just like outdoors which helps me continue to perfect my swing. Also, there is no shooting pain up my arm when I “chunk it”. As far as durability, again, I beat it up pretty good at times, and it has held up great. Great point on the height. I’m 5’10, and my max garage height is about 9’2”. When I stand on the mat, I feel like I’m on a stage (I stand on it for garage karaoke). I can’t swing driver or 3W in my garage due to the height of the mat, it’s truly a game of inches or half inches. If someone is setting up a SIM in their garage and height is an issue, I would probably get a mat that’s not quite as tall as that 1 1/2 inch will make a difference. I love it otherwise.

Great review, seems extremely honest and straightforward and had exactly the information I required to give this a shot. So I purchased though your link. I have a fibrebuilt hitting strip and it’s just not really that great so I’m hoping this is an upgrade.

Thanks for the excellent information and thorough review. I ordered this mat in December 2023, and it has been very good for my sore elbow. I have found the hitting to be realistic and it works well with my Rapsodo MLM2Pro and Spornia net.

Just ordered a 4x7 SigPro softy through your link! There was a lot to sort through out there, it came down to a Carl’s place mat with their divot strip or sigpro softy. Ultimately I went with the one that wasn’t back ordered and seemed to have a few more better reviews! Hopefully my Sportscreen studio gets here soon!

Nice video. The hitting mat looks like it has been used quite a bit for being band new. How many shot do they say you can have on it before replacing hit strip?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom Год назад
Thanks! I’m not sure I’ve seen a number of shots but the turf did show some wear pretty immediately. My guess is you’ll see a wear spot pretty quickly but hopefully it’s only cosmetic and you get at least a year or two before replacing the strip. I can’t say much for sure about the durability thought because I haven’t had it that long and have been testing a lot of mats at the same time.

Quick question - I currently have the 8' x 4' Fiberbuilt that came with my foresight sim in a box package. It has the 8’ x 4’ fiberbuilt grass turf section and the eight 2’ x 2’ rubber tray sections. Do you know if the SIGPRO Softy Golf Mat would fit if I were to add the hitting strip by cutting out the right size section?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 8 месяцев назад
In theory it could work but I don't know the exact height of your mat. The SIGPRO Softy is 2.5" tall (maybe slightly under) and those fiberbuilt mats I think are maybe closer to 1.5"?? But if you can cut a hole the size of the Softy and get it to match up to 2.25" - 2.5" tall it could work.

How does the strip sit for flush with the stance mat? I am just upgrading to a GC3 and it will be the first putting I will get to do in my sim (was an R10 guy). Does this sit flush enough to register good putts? It looks a little higher.
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom Год назад
It does seem to stick up just a little bit higher, maybe an 1/8th inch. I actually don’t think I’ve done any putting on it that I can remember but if I have time I will play some tomorrow with my GCQuad. I am 99.99% sure it will be no problem at all with a GC3. The GC3 should have read everything it needs before the ball even rolls off the strip. You’ll love how well it does with putting and short chips. Maybe I’ll do a GSPro video with it soon, it’s been a while.

Hi, thanks for your review. I’m considering buying a Sigpro softy but they’re a bit pricey…are you still using yours and do you still feel it’s easy on your joints? I’d be coming from a CCE that has given me golfers elbow.
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 13 дней назад
I still love mine. I’m about to replace the hitting strip after a little over a year. I’ve heard the same complaint about CCE forever which is why I didn’t bother reviewing it. I think the Softy is the best balance of softness and realistic feel but you could also consider fiberbuilt grass or the gung-ho holy grail. Both are going to be really soft at impact but realism will suffer some.

Do you ever notice any issues with your launch monitor ever so slightly moving on this mat? I’ll notice after 5 or so swings my BLP’s alignment will ever so slightly move enough to cause reads to be off
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom Год назад
No I haven’t noticed but I’m mainly using GCQuad which is heavier than BLP. My mat came with 4 big pieces of Velcro to keep the mat in place but I haven’t needed to use it. Maybe you could try that if you haven’t already

Since the Sigpro strip is thicker by almost an inch, any suggestions on how to build up my old mat so I can insert? Cut and Glue a gym mat to bottom of old mat perhaps?

Gym mat or foam board insulation from Home Depot might work.

Does the mat move around at all when you swing? My garage flooring is a little slick and this would be my biggest concern.
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 11 месяцев назад
They include 4 big pieces of Velcro (maybe 6x6?) to attach the corners to your floor. That should do the trick but I never used them. I occasionally notice mine has moved an inch or so but I don't know if that's from swinging or just bumping into it with stuff. Either way the velcro should keep it from moving.

Nice review! Sigpro softy or Fiberbuilt grass: Which is better for injury prevention? I currently have a Country Club Elite and it is beating me up! I have no issues hitting outside. The sim sessions have killed me tho… Sounded like the only issue you had with Fiberbuilt grass was chipping (i simulate putting… so no concerns with putting issues) and I have Mevo+ setup so chipping a foot over is nbd…
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 10 месяцев назад
The fiberbuilt grass is definitely best for injury prevention as there’s basically no impact. You sacrifice some “realism” and to me it’s most noticeable with chips and “feel type shots” than it is with full swings. SIGPRO Softy to me is the best all around mat. The foam underneath is soft enough that I don’t think anyone would have injury issues yet it’s also very realistic feeling because the turf is about an 1” thick on top of the foam.

I have the CC elite and it also beats me up, One day unfortunately being dumb with buddies I actually tore my Pronator teres, muscle in arm from trying to be a long drive champion and hitting the ground too hard. All my friends say “it grabs the club too much”. So looking for something that would be a good replacement. Did you buy anything yet? How is it ?
@thehighhandicapgolfer
@thehighhandicapgolfer 6 месяцев назад
@@shocker4545 Because I’m cheap I actually cut a square in my CC Elite to put the Sig Pro Softy hitting strip in it. I love it! It has a lot more give and you can hit down on ball much easier. I had to use 2 layers of exercise pads (like the puzzle piece ones) to get the CC Elite to the correct height as the SigPro Softy strip (2.5”) I’m glad I found the recommendation on this channel! This video on my channel you can see the Softy strip and the mat I’m standing on is the CC Elite GS Pro is My Jam! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IxI1IsTuoVA.html

How does the strip line up with the base? Flush it is it slightly above the stance mat?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 8 месяцев назад
Its very close to flush but may be raised very slightly. I may have made it worse from taking the strip out and putting it back in from the bottom side which bent the turf around the edges. Its been a few months now and the turf around the edge has settled back to normal. It may be slightly raised but not enough to make any difference.

you mentioned it in your review, but i wanted to follow up on something: you said you stand right on that seem when you hit. has this bothered at all? since this video, has it gotten better? worse? any thoughts on that? thanks man!!
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 10 месяцев назад
That kind of thing normally bothers me but it really hasn't. It fits together snug so you can just barely feel it under your feet and it doesn't move. I don't even notice it now. The strip is still great but it got some wear on the turf pretty quickly. It doesn't seem to affect the shots at all but it might after a year. I'll probably rotate it eventually.

Any issues with this mat moving when you used it? My 5x5 shifts a bit while I’m swinging and my BLP isn’t registering the shot. I can’t secure to the ground though. Thanks
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 4 месяца назад
I've had no issues with it moving during a shot. It does shift a little bit over time but I did not use the included velcro to secure the corners to the floor. I would not expect issues registering shots though.

What is the longevity on the strips? for someone who plays practices mostly on weekends? I know it varies on the amount of swings. Just curious of a baseline?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 7 месяцев назад
You'll see a wear spot on it fairly quickly but that's just cosmetic. Not sure how long it will last but I've used it almost daily for around 5 months. My guess is you'll get a few years out of it if only using on the weekends. The wear spot will show up in the first month though.

If I’m planning on using my mat outside (would probably be taking it down after every use and storing in the garage), do you think this is the best mat? I was looking at fiberbuilt but seems like it would be a pain to put back after every use

I do. The mat part is just 2 pieces that are pretty light and fit together quickly. The fiberbuilt mats I own are pretty heavy and not easy to move around.

Sigpro slide or twist at all on pavers/concrete? Little concerned with there being no rubber base. However ag 20Lb(ish) is it heavy enough where it doesn't twist/slide?

Quick question… does there seem to be plenty of space on the right side of the hitting strip for your GC3/quad so that the ball is in the hitting zone?
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 6 месяцев назад
Either work fine. The quad can go farther away (off the mat if you want) because of the larger hitting zone but it also works fine on it. It’s about 24” from the center of the hitting strip to the edge of the mat.

The player preferred is pretty firm but the 2x4 hitting area is huge. The softy is more cushy and safer on the joints but the hitting strip is much smaller. What's important to you in a mat?

Are you able to duff chip shots off of the mat? I feel like practicing short game indoors has given me a false sense of security and isn’t all that accurate because the club slides on top of the turf
@friendlygolferdotcom
@friendlygolferdotcom 7 месяцев назад
I can still duff them and I think it’s better than some other hitting strips for that but it’s still not like real grass. I think it’s slightly better because it has about 1” turf instead of short putting turf that others use. Nothings the same as grass with a grain direction though.
