Sigurd is deadass just in this game to console people about their dead parents. Truly, they did him justice in this game by using him as a painfully simple bit
To be fair, almost everyone already knows Sigurd as “that one lord who dies,” and if spreading the idea and intrigue around his story gets us closer to a remake I don’t mind too much… plus reducing Genealogy to “the game where the lord dies” is doing a disservice to what the rest of the story and world has to offer, and I’d say even after viewing all of this someone could go into genealogy blind and be caught off guard with the story and how things go.
I think it's hard to say almost everyone knows about Genealogy considering yhe game has never released in English. Fire Emblem fans who are actively in the community would know, but casual players would have no chance of possibly knowing
@@Vexal50Same thing with "Aerith dies" lol; people just talk about it so much that eventually, it's practically impossible to even attempt to hide it anymore. I like to call it the "Citizen Kane syndrome" (named after the infamous "Rosemary was his sled" moment from that film)
@@magicball3201well most people probably didn't even know of it until 10 years ago at least, probably even more since that's around when Awakening came out
Starting off: okay this is pretty normal By the time it gets to Celine's bond convos: oh wow I didn't realize Isabelle from Animal Crossing could support with Sigurd Fire Emblem
For anyone curious about the speed increasing at the Deirdre reference is because technically their marriage is technically a story event but I only increased the speed by 25% since its an admittdly small spoiler compared to the rest of the conversations. (Edit: For anyone wondering why Zelkovs A conversation didn't move the spoiler counter it's cuz i forgot to edit the count there, my bad).
Dang, that speed increase in 1x to 2x kind of making everyone speaking like Alvin and the Chipmunks and in 2x to 3x Speed make everyone talk like Animal Crossing characters speaking as well.
Sigurd's bond conversations are so funny because. Most of the other Emblems try to play coy with what point in time they come from, or in the case of Corrin and Byleth, what story route they come from. You can generally Assume they're from the end of their story and Roy does confirm that for him at the end. But they try not to confirm it straight out for most of them. Except Sigurd. We know Sigurd is from the end of his story, because as displayed, the game can't stop making fun of him for it.
Listening to speedup bond convos make me lose braincells. I recall reading a comment saying how Sigurd's death is literally what drove many ppl to play FE4 (me included) But I still lament at the fact such an event would have been much cooler to find out by the players (IF the remake is actually coming soon) rather than having Sigurd FLAT OUT spoiling his own game more than 10 times in Engage. The worst offense is Sigurd spoiling his own game in literally the 3rd chapter of Engage. It's a bold strategy let's see if it pays off.
Don't think its a marketing strategy tbh, I think it's more IS just being a douche and spoiling the game to anyone who's not jp or doesn't know how to emulate since I think we still have to wait a bit for the fe4 remake (my guess is it'll be on the switch 2 but I may be wrong and hope I am) And if its marketing its still a douche move spoiling the game for people who were waiting for a remake and tryna go spoiler free.
@@marioalbertomoreno3819 "Hey imma eat this sandwich you paid for real quick, don't worry I'll tell you how it tasted and everything. You just can't experience it for yourself or anything."
@@Finnland278 I also hope you're wrong on the aspect of FE4 being release on S2 (OH PLS RELEASE IT NOW) But considering they didnt spoil any other FE story like they did FE4 (i might be wrong) It sounds like they're up to something? But why?? Which self respecting company would spoil their own game? If you care about the individual experience your consumers go through while playing the game, you wouldn't dare reveal such spoilers. Tbh I don't think IS treats FE anymore than a game to attract new players and earn more money. I hope they can prove me wrong though.
@@yeorelz if IS treated FE well we wouldn't be playing Genealogy with fan made English patches. A good amount of the series is still in jp only after all (fe2 to fe6 and new mystery). If I was IS I would remake the game with switch 2 just for a chance for Sigurd (or in the good timeline Leif) to be in Smash since Smash is like the cheatcode to advertising. That's the real reason Fire Emblem has 8 characters in Smash. All about the money.
see now that's the good kind of reference, people who don't know FE4's story will probably gloss over it, while those in the know get to have a chuckle. The emblems should've had more lines like that instead of bluntly stating plot stuff.
It's strange because there's stuff like that and also him being particularly empathetic about orphaned children that I think are subtle enough where people who don't know about FE4 will either ignore it or think he's just being nice but people who played the game will understand what he actually means. And then there's him literally referencing his own death with no room for debate in the same game.
"Everyone around the world played it right? I mean the remake came out last year. Wait...Nintendo's still holding onto it?" - Somebody at Intelligent Systems, I speculate.
Doesn't outright says he dies, all he mentions is he won't forget that terrible day, its not the same as the others which outright state Sigurd's fate from the end of gen 1.
I'd still rather have this over the characters losing their memories (TMS), being brought at the start of their journey (FE Warriors) or dropping complete non sequiturs only to never be relevant out of events and forging bonds (FEH)
"My sister called me reckless for charging into battle to protect my friends" You mean the same sister who brought her newborn daughter on a cross country march to a battlefield?
I can't hear Selene without thinking of an animal crossing character, also you forgot to increase the spoiler count with zelkov but you did increase the speed of the video at 7:12.
Pretty much, from what I've seen he's the most serious emblem, even more serious than Leif for some reason. Not complaining bout fe4 references though, just wish they released the game in the West before spoiling literally everything about it.
@@Finnland278 I’ve been waiting to play engage until finishing most of the earlier games. I’ve beaten everything from awakening forwards and FE4. I’ve played most of the other games but never completed them. I wish they would at least port it in English for the west. Even if they didn’t remake the whole thing, an official English translation would be nice. I think every FE fan should have the chance to play fire emblem 4, it’s one of the best games (and I would say it is the most unique game) in the series.
@@Finnland278 The insanely weird thing is that they legitimately have internal materials for a localized FE4, yet they are still never going to release it in english, let alone any languages beyond(FE1 never came to EU during its limited release, so I'm not holding my breath, lol). The mildly positive thing is that NSO is the first time it, FE3 and FE6 are officially available to the west, since they allow you to download the JP-app if you make a japanese account. I'm waiting for FE2 and FE5 so I can finally say all maintitles besides 12 have been available to us at some point.
At least FEH is a gacha spinoff that theoretically is expected to be played by fans of the main games, and most of the big spoilers are in an external website. This is just ridiculous.
