Everyone moaning about the Quartz need realise that 1. It is what makes the watch such an accessible piece by Santos standards 2. It isn’t a standard Quartz it has been modified to allow for a 6 year battery life which is not bad at all

I absolutely love your videos Alexander! I've been in the market for a nice dress watch that I would wear maybe once a week. Even though my collection is all mechanical watches, I actually really like that this is quartz. And it's smart when making a quartz watch not to include a seconds hand. Really a beautiful watch. I'm going to think pretty hard about adding one of these. Thanks again.

I'm loving this return to ultra thin Quartz for luxury dress watches. It's like it's 1980 all over again! I think the recent return to luxury quartz started with the Japanese, particularly with the Citizen Eco Drive One. But it's nice to see a Swiss super luxury brand like Cartier picking up on it. Previously, Cartier kept an old quartz model in the Solo line up. I love the Ronde Solo, but that quartz model was too small. So I'm happy to see them finally come out with a proper up-to-date quartz model! And how nice that it's an in house movement! I am one who thinks Quartz movements do make sense for moderately priced luxury ultra thins. Mechanical ultra thins are too expensive or require going back to those tiny hand wound movements. Richemont is pro-quartz, and the Baume and Mercier Classima Quartz is another sweet, thin dress model at a lower price.

This watch is so tempting. Just need to get my head around a quartz movement. If it had a manual wind version, I’d buy in a heartbeat. I do like that this is a high quality in-house quartz movement.

Normally not into quartz. But this cartier makes sense, for that occasional dressy occasions.

Really looking forward to seeing this watch in person. I’ve been thinking of adding a proper dress / business watch to my collection for over a year. My go-to Rolex No-Date sub is fine but I want something a little special and upscale. At first I wanted a slim gold case with an exhibition back, even a date. A Slim, Gold case watch is too over priced- do I want to pay an 150% premium for gold over steel? and I don’t want to be bothered winding a manual watch or setting the date wheel every other week if I rotate my rotation. Do I really NEED an automatic dress watch? Not really. I actually considered a simple Tank, but this Santos here is something REALLY beautiful. It’s just so aesthetically pleasing to me especially in all Stainless Steel. I won’t get tired of looking at that balanced dial, and modern interpretation of Roman numerals, exquisitely designed slim case peeking from underneath my shirt cuff. Price is also very compelling too. In fact it’s a Steal. Thoughts?

Hi Alexander. I've heard that Cartier shares Piaget's in-house Quartz Movements. I.E the Cartier 690 is a rebranded Piaget 690P. Do you know if this new movement is based on the cal. 690, or is it an entirely new one? Any idea on the accuracy? 15 sec. per year?

At 05:40 I can see the minute hand of the second watch jump - can someone tell me if it jumps once every 30 seconds, or it's more (or less)? Looks like it's a half-minute interval. Also, thank you for the video. :-)

Cartier ya deberia dejar de fabricar relojes de cuarzo. Mas ahora que fabrican piezas de Alta Relojeria que estan a la altura de un Patek Philippe. Con eso subirian mucho mas de nivel. Blancpain nunca ha fabricado relojes de cuarzo, porque consideran que es degradar mucho a la marca. Y tienen razon.

I think they really screwed up by putting a quartz movement in this, it’s almost as bad as that ridiculous new Audemars Piguet lineup...

nothing special i think chinese will make duplicata at 150usd.
