I've been working out in these shoes for a month now and love them. Don't let one review from someone stop you from trying these out. Shoes will work different for everyone, some will like them and others won't. If you're on the fence of buying these, just do it.
These shoes are absolutely fine. I have all three Romaleos. Romaleos 2 yes are flat as hell but each provide something unique. I’d choose 4s over 2s. But I love the look of the 2s more
Finally a comment on the curved shape of the outsole. Clearly not flat on the stock images and no one has even mentioned it! I ordered a pair but don't really have high hopes of them taking over my 2's.
the 2's are not totally flat either with the shoe off but when they are on the foot and floor on the outsole is flat. I've seen a few lifters with these and the curve is pretty evident even when lifting. I guess we'll see how the 4's feel for me. Maybe the out sole could soften up over time as well?
@@coatesy71 ahh I see thanks for the response I do have a tendancy to rock forward so maybe not for me, the only proper pair of weightlifting shoes I had are adipower 1, I want to get something on par
I bought these shoes despite seeing this review (partly because literally every other shoe was sold out. I wanted to buy the Antas). I was really reluctant about buying these shoes from this video. But from my experience, I really like the shoe. They're very stable laterally. The curve at the front does make you rock forward INITIALLY. However, once you break into your shoe, it no longer becomes an issue. I would say the same thing for the "heel slip." The Nike logo at the bottom of the shoe does NOT stick out or cause any problems for me. If you have wide feet, these may not be for you. Try them on at a store first. I got them in size 10. I usually wear 10-11 in sneakers. I tried 9.5 in Legacy Lifters 2 and could fit in them as a side note (10s were not in stock). I picked the black Romaleos 4 because they just looked cooler to me compared to the green Legacy Lifters 2 (the only thing in stock). I previously wore the Adidas Adistar 2004 (size 12, which is WAY too big for me but I somehow managed). I wore the shit out of them until someone pointed out that I should get a new pair since they were literally stripping apart. To conclude, I like these shoes. Never tried the Rom 2s though.
I got these after previously using the adipower 1s and I really like the 4s. I like the weight. And my foot is relatively narrow. I’m still breaking it in but other than that I’m happy with it and have felt a pretty decent amount of support. Love your stuff tho!
lol yes brother that's why i'm here too. came undone but after good 8 years. tell me please if you did end up buying something and if so, which one and how does it compare to the 2's? please and thank you!
@@abadran8174 I ended up with the Romaleo 3.5’s, supposedly the tongue ripping out is not an issue like regular 3’s. Half as light as the 2’s, which I don’t like, and the construction is nowhere near as solid. The heal is slightly higher than 2’s (size 10.5 US). Had me a little more forward than I like to be in the bottom of a snatch. Wearing them without insoles fixed that. Arch support is good so foot feels active instead of flat inside the shoe. I have a pair of adidas leistung as well. Much better shoe than the 3’s. Excellent arch support great construction, just too narrow for my feet. Highest heal of them all. Nothing compares to the 2’s though , so they’ll always get put back together Hope that helps!
@@houtexflex that sure does help my man. I would say that the Rom3 is what gave the Rom2 that legendary status. Because of how horribly constructed it was. The 4s are slightly heavier than the 2s. For the time being, I glued my 2s back together so that will give me time to think because I didn't think at all about shoes for 8 years now since I got those. Thanks man!
Just bought reebok legacy lifter 2's for squats it comes tomorrow so I'll see if its good. The nano x has been my only one it's horrible for squats but great for everything else.
To be honest, I think all the new WL shoes out there are more designed to suit the needs of the crossfiters and the growing interest of this sport, it's not a bad thing, but I think they shouldn't try to get those two sports together and shouldn't advertise those as WL shoes. They should try to do two models, and I think this goes to almost all brands out there.
the nike logo on the sole doesn't protrude at all on my pair. my sole looks more like a bow when you look from the front, where the sides are in contact with the gound and the midde part is 1mm off the ground. weird. you're totally right with your other points. i only use them for squatting 3x a week and they're really comfortable. good enough for me.
Valaasa strake weightlifting shoes look like some of the best and flattest weightlifting shoes never really noticed the toe rising till you pointed it out now I can't stand it on my reeboks.
@@sikastrength Well I've been in the market for some self respect for many years now😁 maybe an affordable squat rack or platform. I enjoy your sports theory/training strategy the most.
@@sikastrength yes exactly, I have a pair of 2s but it doesn't seem I'll be able to ever replace it so I use it sparingly, and use the legacy lifters everyday
Thank you for the review. I do apologize but I had a really hard time catching a few words with the accent lol. Could you please tell me which weightlifting shoes you do recommend with a flat toe box? All the shoes I look at have a curled up toe box. Thank you very much 👍
I gave up waiting for someone to sort the oly shoe situation out and just paid up for more adistars. I suggest everyone else do the same be it rom 2, adistar, ironworks, 727 or whatever it is you like...
@@getstrongby4038 I just coughed up the cash to replace my 12.5 08s because I am old with a lot of miles/injuries and refuse to mess with my mechanics when everything has been physically stable for awhile because everyone is cost engineering their shoes and making unnecessary changes. It wasn't for lack of trying new along the way. A lot of the modern shoes are horrible in the toebox. That whole area has zero structure on modern adidas. The current adidas are also all too flexible. I never liked the weight or heel height of rom 2, the 3 were too light and again, I didn't care for the feel in the toebox which was a shame as they fit me quite well. I even tried a pair of matochas which were awesome but have a very wide heel and a lot of volume. Antas don't sound too bad. At least they are leather and have a touch more heel vs the rom 2.
@@kcb5150 yeah was that from hookgrip? I can't find any in a 9.5 or 10 anywhere regardless of price Im not even a weightlifter but I really like the adipowers for squatting and overhead work, I think I'm going to get some antas and see how I get one, I might get some 727s aswell but not sure yet It really is a shame the way things are going
@@kcb5150 ahh I see. That's dedication, there is a guy at the gym i used to work out at and he had some 2005 (I think) adistars. I considered bludgeoning him for them but decided against it 🤣
Well I'm size 47 so the 4s cost less than 100 for me. But the 2s cost like 300 now. So easy choice for me even if I think the 2s look fire. But after 10 months my first pair just stared falling apart so I had to exchange them.
Wouls you approve the adipower 1 vs the new romaleo 4? Max Lang approved the rom 4 and said he'd train in them so I was thinking of getting these over the adipower but the points you've made here seem very legit so I would love to hear more of your thoughts.
@@alexwilliams5587 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fhSt9d87Sic.html So based on your logic, these guys have no idea what they are doing
@@sikastrength i personally just ordered a pair of antas (lu white blue yellow) because rom 2 resales are getting too pricey. Mine should come in next month. I have been using inov-8s and the adidas drehkraft (which in my opinion is not bad if you're a lighter guy) but feel the need to use a heavier shoe. Would love to watch your opinions on the antas anyway.
I wonder why all these companies are making such big mistakes with their shoes when they've done so well in the past. No one wants these changes they've all made, be it curled up toes or too flexible material or fundamentally changing the fit of the previous model. And we even see some lifters in prototype models months in advance. I can't imagine they're signing off on these.
It's possible the lifters are happy that a company as big as Nike are looking for them to assist so offering negative feedback might be something people don't want to do. It's also VERY possible Nike just didn't listen and the feedback was discarded in the process for some reason
I've bought the shoes tried them today lol sending them back tomorrow the heel slip what everybody says is treu and the insert sucks man iam staying with my adipower 1 way better
In our opinion from the cheaper side I'd go with Adidas, often 100 euro or so and you've got a great shoe. On the more expensive end the nike 2 or anta are a great option
My first shoe was Adidas power perfect3, and I just got Rom4 for 140€, never tried Rom2, so they feel really good. Although I feel a bit heel slip. Should I size up or get ROM2? German weightlifting shop sells them but are 160€+
If financial it's no issue than it would definitely be worth a look into the rom 2s and see how you like them as opposed to sizing up from the 4s. The 4s to us feel like a poorer version of the 2s
For gurph - whats your regular shor size if you sized a 10 in oly shoes? Im walking around in a UK10 so wondering what size for romaleos 2... Really appreciate this review as I was seriously considering getting a pair and would have definitely wasted my money!
Hello guys. The romaleos 2’s are the best shoes i have ever tried... i Can see a site in Europe have them in Stock in my size but they cost 215 euro... Would you say they are worth it? There is also a site that have Them to 160 euro, but they are a half size up from my normal size... do you Think they Would be too Big?
Except for the durability problems, the Romaleos 3 was the best step in the right direction for Nike. Because they ripped off the first Adipowers. Why they went back to clunky and non-form fitting for the Romaleo 4 is beyond me. The first Adidas Adipower was the greatest weightlifting shoe of all time. Better than the AdiStars even.
I agree romaleos 3 were the best, I still have a pair. The only problem was the quality of romaleos 3, after paying 250 plus they felt like a cheap shoe. It felt like a filmsy shoe.
