Creation of the monsters Something human interview with monster designer Ito Masahiro. Music and sounds Under the skin Interview with sound director/composer Akira Yamaoka.
I wish we could get a re-translation of this video, I know some Japanese and they're missing out on a lot of word details when Akira Yamaoka is talking about sounds.
First he's using a pencil to sketch up the figure, then create the outline by using an ink pen. Then Applies shade and tone with to graphic markers. One light grey and one earth red. Search for TRIA or Pantone markersfor example.
I've noticed in the PS2 version of SH2 that Pyramid Head makes the same grunting noises as James does whenever he wields the Great Knife. (As in, the noise he makes is the exact same noise - it sounds like James.) I'm wondering if this was done on purpose.
I was a big fan of resident evil but when I go back to the old games I just can't get into it anymore, Silent Hill 2 though...I still get scared and caught up in James' story
@Sceptorful Yeah, I undertand, I think I just felt a slight link to him because I've been through harsh favoritism with my military father. I mean, obviously I didn't kill the person who was pretty much my Josh, but she was dad's favorite and I got the shaft to most things. It's a sibling thing, I know, but it doesn't change the fact that it still hurts alot. So I may be bias about Homecoming just for those reasons.
You mean "Be my last" sounds like "Theme of Laura"? Lol (seeing as how Be My Last was composed after Theme of Laura). But you're right, they sound VERY similar. Opening of theme of Laura seems to follow the chord progression Cmaj, Dmaj6, Emin and Be My Last is (probably): Cmaj, Dmaj and Emin (all open string). So almost the same chords, but different voicing.
But damn, I know I saw it somewhere but I can't confirm it. But the symbolism is good. The sad thing is I've never really played any Silent Hill game, but I use the games for inspirations on projects.
Totally agree with yamaoka´s opnion about resident evil´s sound effects, they are justo too formal, silent hill´s sound effects are so strange and unhuman that really scares you...
i think it was a MIX CHARCOAL INX GRAPHITE pencil with colors......you can actually find it at artists shop...........but i ain't sure of it :D////it's just look like :D
@getthefuckaoutmyway Agreed, but the quality of the video I uploaded isn't much better than this. If re-uploaded, it wouldn't look a lot better. If you want, I can send you a link where you can download the full 32min video.
Piramyd head doesn't have any head beacuse when they were Creating him they just Destroyed it by putting the two parts of triangle together , you can even see that in one of Silent hill homecoming ending video.
wait woah? pyramid head is the gem of silent hill 2! it's the original badass rape monster that chases you down and startles you randomly during the game. i expected them to give him a little bit more spotlight,or atleast call him by his name and not "triangular headed monster"
The only positive thing I can say about SH5 is, Alex's character was actually believable for me. He showed, anger/pain/anguish/sadness. Like other SH characters. That and there were a few plot twists I hadn't forseen. I liked that. And that only. The atmosphere is okay, but the other characters were bland and I hated the fact that Pyrmaid Head was there. He had no need to be in that game, really.
yeah alot of people didn't like that. But one thing I don't think is fare is that people knock SH5 ignoring the fact that it was(gameplay wise)the best Silent Hill sequel that came out after SH1. Everything from pacing, to puzzles(it actually returned to SH1's riddle and brain teasing puzzles rather than having to fetch a key for this door or whatever)to combat, to control was better than all the Silent Hills after the original. It was a great game, but not a great Silent Hill experience
4:13 god I just cracked up laughing at that guy. im sure hes a genius and a top bloke and all that but being a New Zealand site worker and a double hard bastard, I couldnt help but burst out laughing. No need to shoot me or nothing, im actually quite a nice guy, you just dont see that in my world.
@darhq I'm no expert on graphics , i only told you about fabulary meaning how Piramyd head is created , Silent hill is very scary game , i stopped at a hospital , Beacuse of Sunny days...
blame konami for that. The original team silent has spoken out about how much they miss the series. It was their idea, and konami sold it off, because they figured other studios could make games for less pay.
@Dk1for4all Speaking as someone who's done 3D modelling for years, unless Pyramid Head's pyramid head was ever meant to be removed, having the head modelled beneath it would take up memory pointlessley in-game. Something Team Team Silent, would have realised and changed, as they're perfectionists. Sadly, TS stopped making Silent Hill after 4. Therefore, the talentless company who made Homecoming WOULD have done everything half-arsed during development. Because they're idiots.
I always caution myself when I think of listening to the Silent Hill2 soundtrack. ...Yea and mostly go ahead and sit there listening to it for an hour and a half. Under the skin; tell me about it.
Didn't they just say in this documentary that Pyramid Head's actual head IS the triangular pyramid? His first design was scrapped because it was "just a man in a mask", so it doesn't exactly make sense then, why PH would be wearing a mask/helmet..
bloober team couldn’t even get remotely close to even the edge of greatness that team silent achieved. What an awful move on Konami’s part to give one of the task of remaking one of the most iconic games of all time to a dev team that has several cheesy horror games on their resume. I swear to god I could do a better job at remaking it. They need someone like a creative director who can guide the remake away from modern cheesy troupes and keep it deep and psychological as it was meant to be.
