I don’t think I’ve ever come close to crying just from a track alone, but how the remake’s track begins starts so familiar and turns different as the scene goes on. Holy fuck Akira hasn’t lost his touch
Bro whoever is in charge of Konami’s marketing needs to be fired. The trailers have not done this game justice at all. Watching this has revived my hope in the game, will def be playing it.
The fear and panic apartment music plays in the woods, that´s displaced music voiding the supposed mood, a dream mood. Even so called horror comedy movies (cheap movies with boobs and everyone dies) don´t begin with boobs or slaugther. And then even the trailer has random heavy metal in it
what really impresses me is the ample aspects of liminal space. if you remove james and only use the camera, the liminality is captured and sold excellently.
We'll def see Norman Reedus get modded in since it happened with Callisto Protocol (albeit that game was on UE4 borrowing elements from UE5) but it will happen lol
I’m approaching this with cautious optimism. That being said, the original game is _such_ a singular masterpiece nothing could ever replace it or undermine it. Clearly, Bloober Team knows this too. That’s why I’m okay with the remake; it feels like a fan-effort.
@@XboxerSulfatado Why so hateful? The next generation of console (Xbox 360) came out about 4 years after SH2, so why wouldn't they want to see an updated version of their favorite game? Just let people be excited for something without having to demean them.
@@Kai-El Because it's an empty phrase to gain likes, literally Silent Hill 2 is one of the most visually impressive games on PS2, it even took years for average games to reach (and surpass) its visual quality on the PS3/360 generation and we're talking about a PS2 game. Whoever asked for a ''remake'' of Silent Hill 2 a generation later is the same kind of person who asked for a remake of The Last of Us on PS5 and said ''I waited so many years for this'' it almost sounds like a comment written by an AI ''I waited so long for this'' ''a dream come true'' ''I never thought this day would come'' ''My god, this is surreal'' ''Im so excited''.
@@XboxerSulfatado Who cares? If they want a few free likes, so be it. If they truly mean it, however, you're being an absolute douche for no reason other than to be angry. So stop, please.
It looks incredible! The only problem I see is that James's movements are a little bit clunky, but the atmosphere, the whole visual, the changes/adaptations, voices, the new puzzles, and places to explore throughout the city, etc., are all amazing so far. I hope the multiple endings are still there and are defined by the way you play the game. And I hope they don't forget about Maria's campaign too (Born from a wish). ❤️🎉 GOOD JOB! ❤️🎉
Hell nah. This crappy Homecoming x TLOU trash is literally every single SH fan's worst nightmare come true. The VA, cinematography, and especially gameplay are butchered. Not to mention those Polaks shot down THE Team Silent's suggestions of making a BRAND NEW STORY, just so they could milk the easy SH2 bucks off newbies...
I'm very excited about this remake, I'm a big fan of this saga and its beautiful soundtracks made by the master Akira Yamaoka, the game comes out in October for my birthday
I wish they fixed James running animation even smoother seriously. Other than that,it's fine and 100% hype. Truly. I can't wait to play this in the dark again.
I think Is understandable, we are talking about a man who is mentally broken and perhaps his way of walking so rough and so strange can be justified, it is incredible.
Same thing with the Dead Space remake. That one literally had worse animations than the original. Though I think it's more understandable here since James is supposed to be a depressed dude so we can't have him confidently running around like Leon.
No one wants it too fail, people have expectations and standards set by the original. Also people don't want stuff changed for very valid reasons. You have no idea what you're talking about.
@@Silent47963True, but you have to admit that there are people out there that will NEVER be happy with the final result, no matter how on-point it is. Some people are just built to be insufferable at all times. But at the same, it’s clear that Bloober has actually been responding to all the feedback over the last several months, and have been making proper adjustments accordingly.
I confess it's strange to see Silent Hill without the fixed camera angles. But I try to see this as an opportunity to see the city from a new perspective we didn't have before.
I hope they include the iconic moment from the original in the apartments where James first sees pyramid head standing across the closed off section & the static is going crazy! I’ll never forget that moment as a kid it really scared me!
It's not even a small nitpick. The cinematic camera-angles allowed effortless, non-verbal guidance of the player, and some truly beautiful, artistic, and sometimes absolutely terrifying scenes to be portrayed with nothing but smart room composition. This sorta generic, restrictive OTS view just kills all that artistry.
Sorry for you Fanboys, but What are you talking about?Amazing Details? No bloodsprinkle or dirt on his clothes or body after hitting enemies into pieces. And you are talking about details. It is all too clean, sterile and lifeless.

The fight with the Pyramid Head looks thrilling. It really reminds me of the fights with Nemesis in Resident Evil 3 when you’re face-to-face with a dangerous opponent. I’m looking forward to the game. I remember how my mom gave me the original as a New Year’s gift back in 2003, and now, nearly 22 years later, the game has transformed beyond recognition.
one thing that annoys me with this game so far though is they didn't finish his speech , he mentions the hotel and park, and how they spent time just staring at the water together, that added some additional emotions, really helped you feel how in love he truly was with his wife, its a shame they got rid of it.
Whoever came up with the trailer for this game should be fired. The gameplay is 10000% better than the trailer, which was disappointing. Can't wait to play it.
24:45 They got rid of the unnerving sequence of Pyramid Head engaging what looks like some kind of rape with the leg mannequin creatures and turned it into a fight sequence.
It was always a fight sequence. In the original game, that cutscene occurred right before the first pyramid head boss fight. The only difference in the remake is that it heads right into gameplay instead of showing James’s shock
For all of those who don't understand the importance of James voice in the beginning of the game and for those who didn't get why people are complaining about this in the remake: (BIG spoilers ahead) (SPOILERS VVVVVV) At the beginning of Silent Hill 2, James's voice should reflect his troubled psychological state, but without revealing the big secret that he is his wife's killer. Since he is constantly trying to suppress the truth, his voice should convey a mixture of apathy, confusion, and depression & sadness. He would be emotionally distant, with a slightly monotone or apathetic voice, suggesting his detachment from emotions and the reality around him. However, this apathy should not be exaggerated to the point of sounding suspicious, as the player should NOT YET suspect his actions. Ideally, in addition to this apathy, there would be a slight insecurity and vulnerability in his tone. After all, he is in a strange city, trying to understand what is happening to Mary, and his genuine confusion should be present in how he speaks. This helps to create empathy with the player and mask the fact that he is, in fact, running away from the guilt and trauma of his actions. As the game progresses, his voice could become more strained and broken, reflecting the cracks in his emotional façade, as the truth begins to emerge. Thus, James' ideal voice should be a combination of emotional disorientation and repression at the beginning, allowing room for evolution as the game progresses. ----- INSTEAD OF THAT... in the Remake, at least for what we've been seem so far James voice sounds raspy and too much deep, like he is already a tuff guy without any vulnerability... A deep raspy voice in the style of a war vet seems just out of place for James' character, especially at the beginning of the game James is not a hardened action hero or a character with a life experience marked by explicit violence; he is an ordinary man, carrying a huge emotional, psychological and moral burden !!! Choosing a "heavier" voice just end up distorting James' vulnerability and introspective character, which should convey someone emotionally broken and disoriented, not someone hardened and accustomed to suffering. By opting for a deeper, rougher voice, the remake suggest a harsher life experience or an emotional hardness that does NOT quite reflect the denial and confusion the character faces at the beginning of the narrative. James should sound more introspective, melancholic and, as mentioned before, distant from his own emotions - something more subtle than a deep raspy voice. This approach could even create a disconnect with the final reveal, as the deep voice could imply a conscience or hardness that doesn't match the character's arc of self-deception and discovery.
Eeeeh I think his voice sounds the same honestly. Also it isn't a strange TOWN to James at all. He's been here before with Mary. Also to me, James has always sounded like he did here. He just sounds confused and not knowing what he should do. But at the same time he knows deep down what he did to her. So maybe it's a better thing that he sounds the way he does bc he is truly trying to forget what happened. And what do people do to try to erase a traumatic memory? They talk to themselves with confidence and a happy go lucky style. I think they really made it perfect and so don't really see any change in his voice. I guess that's just me though. Definitely a wonderful remake and I love how they did the fog too that people keep complaining about. It looks more like real fog should. The only reason the fog was put in was bc the PS2 had trouble rendering so many buildings and the back drop. So the fog was put in to help with the frame rates. Which in turn just gave SH2 a whole new scary vibe that they kept with all the games going forward. But yeah, his voice sounds fine to me. I expect him to sound low and raspy anyways. With a bit of confidence bc he truly knows what he did. But is trying to trick his own brain by acting like a badass that can get through anything....
I thought that at first, but his running animation was even sillier in the original. Also I feel like it's hard to animate someone running "kinda slowly". Like, it's either a sprint or a walk. I think real people in real life look stupid when they're running at half-speed, too. So... I think they did a pretty good job with it lol.
I can not explain how great full I am for this. Since I was born in 2003, i could never experience the way some people felt when they played this for the first time. Looks like this is my opportunity
Make no mistake: THIS thing is NOT the beloved, highly acclaimed game people are talking about when they're referring to the SH2. You will never ever replace the classic masterpieces with any of these generic and "updated 4 modern audiences!" de-makes. Go grab the OG SH-trilogy for the PC, and play them in release order. They more than just "hold up" today; they outright tower over most modern AAA slop.
@@GugureSux Bro chill with the hate lmao you've replied to so many comments on here, we get it you hate it, but literally no one gives a shit. We all played the OG's thats literally why we here, find a hobby man. Go play the OG's or smth
No way, sonny. This is EXACT same shiet as the Homecoming and HD Collection. Yet another "We want the RE4 and TLOU audiences!" game, generic as hell action slop with a cheap SH2 cosplay suit thrown on top. Oh, and DEI connections.
This is shaping up to be an absolute banger. At first I was very skeptical, now im more confident that this game will deliver for us OG fans. SH2 is my favourite game ever created. It dealt with some very deep and disturbing ideas of human psychology. I really hope they kept this aspect as raw as it was, and perhaps expanded upon it. Stoked for Oct 8th!
Poser detected. Literally NO SH fan asked for this turd. Not even Team Silent wanted to make this de-make. We used to JOKE about modern Western morans making this sort of TLOU-style trash this day and age... and here we are. It's like a sad parody.
Big fan of the originals, I like the idea of game time extension in gameplay. More to explore and more to get creeped out over. I like what I'm seeing and looking forward to its release.
People are out to criticize and belittle this game. Why? I for one think it looks amazing. SH2 is my favorite horror game of all time and this remake of this gem is a dream come true. It probably won’t be as scary. The Resident Evil remake didn’t seem to be as scary but who cares. At least the game isn’t totally verbatim to the original which means it’s still kind of new.
The problem with the voice acting isn't the performance. It's the portrayal. The thing that made James' character work is the fact that he was out of it and somewhat oddly detached from the situation he was in. He was numb to the reality of his own emotions, whereas this version is just pure on the surface torment. It doesn't work, plain and simple, no matter how hard Bloober tries to make it.
Has anyone noticed the voice for James sounds like a Troy Baker voice but with a Guy Cihi acting direction. The best possible voice imaginable has been made.
Damn....if they just had the same James as the original, plus added the forest trail music.....that opening section would be phenomenal. There's a lot to like here, but there are some major trip ups that let it down, and most seem easy to fix.
After more than 20 years, this game has finally been remade😭Never before has a game made me cry even when I watched the demo or the trailer. Silent Hill, I'm ready to go back home.😭❤
That looks really nice and interesting . I noticed by this video though that the game feels less ambiant than the original especially in the apartment, where is the dark music and sounds ?
Can't wait till October 8th to play this game. I've played the original a few times and im looking forward to getting lost in James story. So glad that they picked Silent Hill 2 to remake first.
They've done an excellent job with this Silent Hill, many people had very bad opinions of the game without any intelligent reason, although Konami has released trailers that do not justify the quality of this game at all. Great work by Bloober Team, knowing that these Silent Hill are practically lost media.
I had super low expectations for this with how Konami has fallen apart in recent years, but hopefully this game is good and Konami can come back around to being respected again. They were such a huge part of gaming in the 80's/90's and 2000's and it would be cool to see them make a comeback.
Everything looks really promising, but why tf did they get rid of the weird creature sound in the forest trail area?? Its a very small detail, but its these types of details that make silent hill what it is. It made me feel like i was being followed the entire way up until the first save area.. idk, it kinda pisses me off that they would get rid of that.
Absolutely visually stunning game, the only problem here is james movements like everybody noticed it feels a bit out of motion, really hoped they'd improve his movements they really don't feel natural but nonetheless really great game
Definitely, if Blubber succeeds, he can remake the 1st, 3rd, and 4th versions. Konami, who didn't appreciate the Silent Hill title, maybe Blobber will, but I hope so, because the developers are huge fans of Silent Hill and do not reduce anything from the original version.
Still cannot comprehend why they changed the character model to a completely different person but kept much of the environments the same....and it appears that one of the finest pieces of music in the game "forest trail' is gone....It still looks like the game will have spots of excellence though.
I never played the original SH2. But I think for those who have played the original, this might be the most hype thing ever for them and I hope this games deliver
anyone complaining about clanky controls and combat should just play re4remake and you got a smooth james a.k.a Leon s kennedy. Jankiness was not just the product of the og hardware linitations but also add to the overall aesthetic of the game. You really want a fluid, lean and smooth movement for a depressed guy like James?. I mean cmon
One little thing, and it's a little nitpicky, but I kinda wish the 1st enemy doesn't attack you in the remake. It just kinda stands there in the original as you pummel it, and when you go back later, it's all taped up like a crime scene. It really made you question James' sanity.
It’s got the same aesthetic like resident evil , which I get that all Japanese Capcom games have that style . It looks like like Leon Kennedy landed in silent hill
Imagine if there's a secret gameplay where mary actually is there and waiting for him and both of them need to get out of silent hill for escape and win the game
LOL! They cut the controversial re-location of the first monster from this "demo" clip! FYI, the OG Straight-jacket enemy you face at the end of this iconic, boarded up tunnel, where Jimbo chases it reluctantly, gets scared by it, before offing it in a similar uncertain manner. The nu-SH2 had him crawl into a BLOODY HOLE in a random house's garage door, looting a random radio off a couch, and then witnessing a spectacular dynamic entry of this enemy, bursting through boards. Nu-James would then instantly grab 2x4 and prepare pummeling it like in Homecoming!
