@@jacksquatt6082 So true with many old games now that I have replayed them. Like omg I’m not the main cast anymore I’m their parents or their mentors. lol
I was 12 when i fist played Silent Hill 2 in 2007, i played i years after it was released and it became part of my core memory and triggered an interest in my concerning criminal psychology. I will be 29 years old when i'm playing the remake, the same age as James.
This town is full of monsters. How can you just sit there and eat pizza?! In my restless dream, I see that town. Silent Hill. You promised you'd take me there again someday. But you never did. Well, I'm alone there now, in our "special place". Waiting for you.
@@buddhull I prefer that SH1 was ignored. Also how is that remaking all games (what Capcom does with RE) systematically started looking a better thing to do? Remakes should be minimum, because it's a bad practice in the industry. And surely RE didnt deserve any remake besides maybe 1, and SH didnt deserve any remake at all. These companies had to work on new ideas.
I just can't believe how good the original FMV's look compared to the cutscenes, especially the Maria cutscene , i know these are ingame but still, Maria looks so bland, in the original the lighting created a more eerie atmosphere. Edit: 00:12 the delivery sounds like she's pretty bored..
If the SH2 remake is successful then they might do SH1,2,3 and 4, but I'm glad they started with the best one first. It's a good way of introducing new generations to Silent Hill.
The impact of a single-cut scene about a ghostly presence, caring but manipulative, holding an unease pose while her shadowed eyes wander from James to a gloomy captivity space, only to hook-stare at the audience, and with a delayed, tone shifted voice: -- ''...I'm not your Mary!'' ...That is what's missing here.
Even though it's a good recreation of the original SH2 title sequence, but the problem is Maria's voice. She sounds so bored compared to the original who's very enthusiastic.
I dont understand why they would remake a game that relies so heavily on a story twist everyone already knows, which everyone holds in incredibly high esteem, and which will be subject to relentless criticism for any changes it makes. $ I guess.
That action movie camera angle, over the shoulder, is what concerns me. Eddie looks so different.... I think they messed up, but hopefully Silent Hill 1 gets remade properly.
@@sablecal A modern SH would never play like the original games again, that's completely unreal. Not even RE did that, and it's a much bigger and more powerful franchise. And other horror games also abandoned the influences of early RE/SH.
Polish Devs, either lost in translation or culture shock. Wrong devs for the job anyways, it was suppose to be Red Barrels (Outlast) or Tango Gameworks (Evil Within). Well... at least we have the Restoration version with SH2 Enhanced Edition, so no harm done I guess.
I think they were going for nostalgia with the voice acting. That slow pause between sentences was prominent in the original Silent Hill game. I felt that was what they were going for.
my biggest challenge will be to play this game without comparing with the original. The only issue I have in this trailer is the voice of Maria is just a little off, but the Mary voice is awesome!! its hard to match the masterpiece that Monica Taylor Horgan produced so I guess I will cut her some slack
The remake will draw in a new generation of SH enjoyers, but, the original releases can't be topped, it's impossible to do. Everyone's gotta eventually take the rite of passage and give the originals a go, i can already tell there are key elements that the remakes are missing, that X factor just isn't there.
Im the original Maria sounded caring and manipulative in that scene. In this... its condescending and lacks some emotions. Maria doesnt feel like a ghost but like a robot
God damn it! I still have these old Bradygames guide magazines of, PlayStation 1: Tomb Raider, Xenogears, GameCube: Super Mario Sunshine, PlayStation 2: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, many more etc. Looking at the Silent Hill 2 guide is a memories of good/bad times playing them back then on the PlayStation 2 console.
The beginning of Marias line dilevery of that cell scene is a bit too passive aggressive. but the rest seems pretty cool. Awesome music. But they showed too much :D
wow didnt think they could mess up mary/marias voice after hd collection but here they are she really doesnt sound interested at all reading he rlines. also why did they model eddie after the duke? and make him obvious evil psycho laugh?
It might be a case of the voice direction was bad, not the voice actor. I mean it's Konami after all, masters of turning our beloved memories into gambling Pachinko machines.
23 years ago I played this games on PS2 . I'm looking forwarded to playing the remake I have the same excitement I had when resident evil 2 remake came out. I hope konomi drops a demo soon. I worked for blockbuster video during the PS1 PS2: and dream cast era so I remember what happen when silent hill 1 came out and resident evil 1 and 2 . I hope silent hill gets a little bit more exposure then what it got before.
Never praise graphics, they are a given these days, and are just shallow fuel for calling something a masterpiece that deserves awards when it might not earn it in other ways.
Just got to love the Eddie Scene, and James says You Can't just kill someone for the way they looked at you! And you slowly see Eddies cheese slide right off his cracker! Fantastic!
They really censored Maria outfit, when it’s a core element to how James psyche is sexual frustration, hope this game fails, also to add to this, wtf was that flat monotone voice acting? Nothing seductive about it. How much y’all wanna bet the nurses won’t even be in the game.
Redesign =/= Censored. How can you censor something that wasn't there to begin with? It's one thing if they used the exact same character model but this one was made from scratch.
@@howie3601if the idea is make her sounds like a girl that is reading some lines without emotion or intention, or like a person waking up from a sedative state, yes, she sounds better than the original 😅
I think she looks and sounds fine. Obviously having the background music during her parts are gonna give you a different feel versus when we actually play without the music and just by that it could change your perspective.
@@princess-kenshin hahaha very Funny, bcause if you play The Original Silent Hill 2, you'll realize that James Sunderland is way worse off than Leon. Leon is a hero type skilled and tactical guy. James is just a regular guy who's depressed and misses his wife, who has already passed away.
@THEJOHNSENAS hehe yeah i played the classic game on ps2 when i was young , and yeah about what u said of leon is correct he's so charming 😂😂😂😂😂🤣 when i played resident evil 4 remake i was staring at his face the whole time 😂😂🤣🤭🤭 i love heroes ❤️
I'm getting the game it has enough to keep me interested i just wish sony had more control over the deal so bluepoint games could work their magic it would definitely have better character models.
It's quite a good replacement for the P.T Silent Hill game which was canceled for a remake in 2014. I was wondering what would happen if there was a crossover between the anime, manga, or game version of Resident Evil and Naruto Shippuden?
I have a very bad feeling about this game. Maria's VA really botched the monologue. So flat and lacking any seductive tone at times, almost like she was just running through the script. Mary was at least better. Eddie, I don't really have a problem with I can see where they might have been going with him doing that long pause, but I then question if he'll snap and go off the deep end. I don't mind tweaks and I really want this to succeed but I just think Bloober will simply not capture the nuances and context that the OG had. Hard to tell if they tweaked Angela, not sitting well with Laura coming across as more bratty either.
after comparing to the old one. yeah the 420p ps2 graphics is creepy compare to the remake (or even the HD pc mod) . for the voice idk ... she sound more "in charge" and emphasize she's not "her". I like to give this game a chance. also i completely forgot how james VA kinda out of place. like henry from sh4 .. doesnt have that "feeling" or "oomp"
It was hitting all the red flags of bad feelings from the very first moment we knew it's being developed by Bloober Team, published by 2020's era Konami and plagued by woke "consultant".
@@J0rdan912 I dont wanna judge the game just yet. after they reveal all characters. I was worried that they change one of the characters race but it seems that that didnt happened. They did improve angela though so its a plus. I still love SH franchise so Im willing to give it a chance
@@J0rdan912I agree with everything accept that last part. Remember street fighter x Tekken, hi fi rush and Alan Wake 2? All had 'woke consultants' the problem is mismanagement and lack of strong direction. Maybe get your head out of your ass and try to enjoy things every once in a while.
Klimat, muzyka robią swoje,a fubuła jest super💪👍Wielki powrót do mojego miasteczka Silent Hill 💪 marzenia się spełniają 🤗🤗🤗🤗👍💪No to wracam do Silent Hill👍👍👍💪💪💪🎆🎆🎆🎆
wait, this looks really good. i'm not even a fan of SH2 (I like the main story ones of 1 and 3) and i might look into this. graphics are amazing, story actually looks like its fleshed out. and at the very least the combat will either be the same as the original or the more likely option, better.
I always wonderd why then started with Silent Hill 2 instead of the first one. It makes more senes to start with the first in the series so you know where it all begins. Maybe thats the author in me talking.
I like it. I havent played the og for a while and ai dont particularly like the face model for James, but it looks like they tried to be faithful. It is too bad they didn't update SH1 first, because so many didn't get to play that and the story is pretty weird.
Man, I don't know. The fact that they felt compelled to censor Maria's outfit (which wasn't mere fanservice and had a _very_ pertinent in-story reason for looking playfully sexy) was a huge red flag to me that Bloober Team didn't really understand the story they were trying to adapt. That James looked so haggard and distraught in the initial gameplay footage was another bad sign; if they knew what was up, nobody should have had to explain to them why James _wasn't_ acting that way at the beginning of the original. EDIT: Thankfully, they got it right in the end.
I was, then I wasn't sure, then I wasn't, then I wasn't sure again! Now I'm kinda looking forward to it. You got me, Konami and Bloober! I just pre-ordered! I hope that it wasn't £60 wasted! Only one way to find out now! If this is any good and it does well, I hope SH1 gets some remake treatment!!! ❤
Almost none of Maria's dialogue is actually said in that cut-scene and things that are similar are altered and worsened. Why does Trad-Wife Mary go unchanged in her design, but Maria is de-yassified and made worse? Almost all the actor's line deliveries are wrong and it's clear the voice director never watched a David Lynch film, because all the Lynchian touches that made the original so haunting are completely missing.
I’m honestly excited for this and hope to see the occult symbolisms I remember from ReinstallPaul’s SH2 videos. I won’t be able to afford the game but I want to see how it plays out, I know people are doing as good a job as they can and that people may not like it but I want to give it a chance to make me feel as the first version did. Personally I want to see the Forgive Ending the most as I love being able to see James forgive himself and balance out the imbalance he felt since he did what he did to Mary and take care of Laura. This is just my opinion. I hope they will do a good job with the game, if not, at least there are play throughs of the old version I can still watch.
I don’t know guys… it still really bothers me that they changed stuff from the original. However small that maybe, if it isn’t back normal by release I’m giving this one a definitive pass. By the way Angela looking the way she does now isn’t just a small change.
Move on, bro. Silent Hills was already canceled. Although it still hurts, at least we got the Silent Hill we know back again from this trailer (not the crappy combat-focused one from before).
It's bad directing. They hired a bad director for these voice actors. They sound like they can deliver the lines but the director, should have had them deliver the tone of the lines. If this game fails to make a profit then the producers and director are at fault.
