In your mind's eye lives a memory Hard to find, blinded by sorrow And her cold voice sings a melody Hear her sing, hell frozen rain falls down She can't hear your voice. She can't hear you call You have burned your choice If you're here, can you prove you're really here? There is a moment in time When all the cards that you've played divide You feel the temperature dive And all your demons inside come crashing through In your mind's eye lives a memory Hard to find, blinded by sorrow And a strange voice sings a melody Hear it sing, hell frozen rain falls down Everything is wrong This is not my home, is it? Do I know your face? Does my mind wish to forget? A toast to lonely souls Who never could take control of life And all the missing we love I hope the darkness they find will give them light In your mind's eye lives a memory Hard to find, blinded by pain And a cold voice sings a melody Hear it sing, hell frozen rain Our safe hearts feeling dangerous Missing truth frozen in lies Is your family just a memory? Once again, hell frozen rain falls down Of all these pieces of broken dreams This one that scares and confuses me If all these things that you say are true You should be someone I always knew In your mind's eye lives a memory Hard to find, blinded by pain And your father sings a melody Hear him sing, hell frozen rain Our safe hearts feeling dangerous Missing truth frozen in lies Are your loved ones just a memory? Burning pain, hell frozen rain falls down Down... Life is cold here. Empty hallowed ground In my head blood-colored rain falls down
The only people that will understand Silent Hill charm is those who can see creepines and romance combine, somehow creating a new style. Its like a world of beautifull depression... and it feels good.
Shattered Memories is a game that might have been a lot more accepted if it had not gone out under the Silent Hill name. I liked the game but I found it having more of a sense of panic instead of the normal miserable depressing mood normally found in the other Silent Hill games. In most other SH games the other world is a place where you want to tread carefully, finding anything that might help you, but here you need to RUN!!! I think Shattered Memories is a good enough to stand on it's own.
Everybody says that the new non-numerical installments are bad. Most of them are, but Shattered Memories is an outstanding exception. Konami, please let Climax take over this series; they are clearly the only developers besides Team Silent who knows what they're doing.
I don't mean to piss off the fans but..I don't think anyone's as obsessed with Silent Hill as I am....I love Silent Hill...I love you Akira! I hope to see you in person at E3 2010. Please be there...U_U
Here I am as a studied demonologist and somewhat practitioner of the dark arts and I keep listening this music or other songs from silent Hill thinking maybe it's about time I practice what I know.
@Thekal58 You summed up exactly what silent hill means to me. Most people just see the Mystery and blood, but I see a layer of romance under that, a desperate relationship between father and daughter. The bond itself is depressing, because Harry and Cheryl are seperated by their tragic circumstances. Silent hill separates them with all the authority of fate, though their love for one another keeps pulling them closer and closer, out of the otherworld. Maybe silent hill bleeds, for their love
@danshim666 Awesome! Although aren't they going with a different composer for Silent Hill 8? I heard that Mary and Akira will be working together on Grasshopper's new game (kick ass!)
The parts you say are from the original SH Theme is like the "Brand Akira - Melody", what i mean is that the little fragment you talk about has been used in MANY songs, SH Theme, I Want Love, Waiting for You, Your Rain etc...
This Song Really describe the Game and There is no other Game with such incredible OST Like SH one of The Reasons That I'm Silent Hill Freak is The Ost Thanx again xo
How the hell can Akira just make every song coincide with the game. With this one you can feel the theme of coldness, chill, in SH2 you could feel the mysterious side in his songs, sort of like the fog. HOW
He did work on Silent Hill when it went to other companies, and he's stated before that he couldn't imagine another composer doing the game other then him; it'll be fine. I'm sure he'll stay with Silent Hill.
Also not only did the Town expand itself but In SH:2 you had a very faint glimpse of James entering the otherworlds of others: Eddie, Laura and Angela. In SH:4 he was trapped and confined in someone else's and his own personal self is invaded and fading away. The Room was such a unique game. If anything: Downpour and this one Shattered memories is really forgetting that the Town itself is a character. and SM is sorta rewriting history completely! I dont like that it's mistakened for the first.
@minipaganini Because he's a fucking musical genius. Yamaoka knows how to connect people with their emotions through the art of music. Specifically, Silent Hill music. He can take a scenario and create music to fit it so perfectly that while listening to that and playing SH games, you become entranced in a sort of way that grips you subconsciously.
@MangaPlCTURE in my game the ending song was this one O.o, it must have something to do with the alternate endings, the best part about these soundtracks ( all silent hill ones) is the fact that they have voices in them, unlike in other games
01. Always on my Mind (feat. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) 02. When You're Gone (feat. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) 03. Searching the Past 04. Childish Thoughts 05. Creeping Distress 06. Hostility 07. Snow Driven 08. Hibernation 09. Devil's Laughter
@alevsener2 Exactly, hands down! Akira Yamaoka = god. I once saw "Theme of Laura" live, performed by the philharmonic orchestra of prague - it was a soundgasm.
10. Lost Truth 11. Angel's Scream 12. Another Warm Body 13. Forsaken Lullaby 14. Raw Shock 15. Lives Wasted Away 16. Blackest Friday 17. Endless Depths 18. Different Persons 19. Ice 20. Acceptance (feat. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn) 21. Hell Frozen Rain (feat. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn)
Silent Hill: the room was new and different but I thought it was a fine edition and my personal favorite. Not only were the scares and feeling of anxiety at its highest through atmosphere: The story was great. The spread of Silent hill to South Ashfield was beautiful and terrible. Instead of going through your own psyche and memories, Henry was trapped in the one of a deluded serial killers, feeling what he does. Naysayers of SH:4 have to realize it was new but still great.
I hear a lot of people saying this game wasn't scary but hell, I always ran like hell! I was afraid all the time that I can't escape those damn things and losing my way because I feel like I am in the game (damn you imagination~!).
Is there no such thing as a bad Silent Hill music. We will find out with the new composer on Downpour and probably from now on. But I think All the music from the first to shattered Memories is the best music to any game. It fits like a glove to the games. LONG LIVE SILENT HILL!
I agree on most of what you've said, but SH3 is still my favourite out of all three. SH3 seems to be less darkly themed (i.e. characters design) compared to SH2 but more refined in a way, not just in the art direction, but also in game mechanics and such. Plotwise, I would say that SH2 is the best; SH1 definitely wins the scare factor award; but for the most fun and replayable I'd go for SH3. Not trying to force my opinion on you, just a little piece of thought I'd like to share :3
ALL SILENT HILL SONGS ARE GREAT!!!! but I give alot of credit to theme of Laura, it always seems that there is a solo guitar in every song with that theme, of course a little bit modified in each song....
I love the Silent Hill OSTS and I am a great fan of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn The songs from Shattered Memories are not the best songs in my opinion but nontheless they still are very very very good and I love listen to them.
Although I knew there wasn't any actual danger other than the chase sequences, the game still managed to scare me with the atmosphere and the music plus if you're playing the game for the first time you don't when the chases are so you'll be on the edge of your seat because they could happen at any moment, that's just me though! One thing I loved was the psych profiling system, they should bring it back in any new games, this is my favorite game in the series post Team Silent.
finally out in Europe. played 1 hour and gotta say, I'm impressed. If it doesn't get significantly worse, it's definitely one of the best Wii games (I guess some of the rare bad reviews came from bitter old Silent Hill fanboys?)
I remember playing Sillent hill 2 when I was 12. It scared me but I kept playing because I wanted tro know how the story ends. The only problem is it stoped me from get scared at horror movies. Once in 5th class a teacher put on Jaws. Half the class were scared. I meanwhile was laughing at the movie
I do not love homecoming, but I like it. There are some fantastic ideas in it and some freaking thoughts. I hope that with the new one, they bring back the creepy, Japanese-style horror back. Right now I am playing Shattered Memories, I am not trough with it but I think it is quite a nice game, nothing special, but enternaining.
Don´t worry. He left Konami yes, but as far as I know, he´ll still work for them as some kind of freelancer. You better play Shattered Memories again while waiting for the next Silent Hill instalment ;p.
"Several weeks ago my contact at Konami Japan contacted me with some startling news. Now, at last, Im finally able to exclusively reveal that after sixteen years at the company Akira Yamaoka has left Konami. It would appear that he has left the company entirely rather than moving to another international division. As you would expect, there has been no formal confirmation from Konami, so right now this is an unconfirmed rumour albeit one generated from a pretty reliable source.
