I have a Cameo 4 and have had no issues with it at all, it works every time for me. It is as seamless as my first Silhouette SD. I have cut and cut and cut with my autoblade, it cuts like its going through butter even with faux leather.
@JCcreates927
@JCcreates927 2 года назад
The second carriage on the silhouette is for heavy cutting only.

I am delighted that your Cameo 4 is working properly. I have not had the same experience. Once I replaced the autoblade that came with the machine and added the ratchet blade, my ability to use the machine improved. I still have issues to this day with registration marks for print and cut. I agree, when it works, this is a powerful electronic cutting machine.

@@TaniaGail Yes, guess I got lucky and am soooo happy I got the good one for once lol Usually it is me with the lemon. When I started using Silhouette machines the company was trying to build a customer base and it was a much better company, I would just call up and they would help me right then and there.

@@JCcreates927 my cameo 4 is 2 mos old with zero issues cutting vinyl on a roll. Well I cut the length off a 150yd roll that doesn't fit the roll holder. Blade set to 1 and force is 2/3 stick vinyl setting to not over cut. Knock on wood even though you can't hear me.

Great job. Sounds like the cameo is more professional, and the Maker 3 is better for beginners or still learning. The Cameo is like Android with no limits or guidance and Maker is like the IPhone my grandmother uses IPhone lol.

Thanks so much for your video. There aren’t too many videos comparing the two machines. I found yours the most helpful. I have a Cricut Joy that I have been using for a year. I’m ready to move up to the Mac Daddy. I wanted to make sure I was making the right choice between the Cameo vs Maker. It sounds to me like the Cricut Maker 3 will be more user-friendly. Good description of different software. I liked the phrase led by the hand. That’s definitely what I need!

Interesting because I hear the cameo software is way better in all the reviews and videos I watched

You can buy the silhouette business software then convert your designs to an svg file and cut it out with your Cricut Maker 3. Best of both worlds.

This really helps! I'm returning my silhouette as of tomorrow because of so many bugs it was having, and I've barely had it for two weeks- I was really debating on whether or not I should get a. replacement for it or try the Cricut, but this definitely helped make my future decision! Thank you so much!

Thank you. This was very helpful in making my decision on what to buy. I think I'll go with the Cricut, but also get the Silhouette software to create my designs to import into Cricut.

Thanks for the video. Some things are incorrect like silhouette can use both carriages at once. You have to set it up in your design and print window

Silhouette’s program is way better than Cricut Design Space which allows more and larger functions. However, Cricut’s machine is build to last and way better than the Silhouette’s flimsy machine. I’ve had my Cricut machines (maker & explore air 2) for about 3-5 years and they both cuts flawless. I have a Silhouette Cameo 4 that’s only about a year and a half old that doesn’t work anymore. So, it’s like you’re between a rock and a hard space.

Thank you for the video. I have the Cricut Maker. I have been on the fence about getting a Cameo 4 ONLY because Cricut limits me with the print and cut feature. It kind of takes the fun out making t-shirts because I need more than 6 inches across my chest. LOL I Said all that to say, thank you for helping me to decide to stick with my cricut (at least for now).

There's definitely workarounds for your problem. I know it's ridiculous to have to use workaround at the price point we pay but once you get over that..... It's at least nice to be able to have a workaround. Few minutes on google/RU-vid will help alot

I'm hoping that with all the updates in DS they will finally add a feature that let's us print and cut larger images. That's one of the only reasons I'm ready to switch.

I know this is an old comment but I sometimes use the silhouette software to design then save as an svg to cut with the Cricut. But I agree with your statement.

Tania, I really appreciate the update. Didn't mention the noise level though. Do you know if there's a community that I can Request for Bid on small projects? I'd rather have someone else do the work than invest the time.

I’m brand new & just starting out …. My question is that would it be beneficial to do the more complicated design work in the Cameo’s design software and export the file(s) to the Cricut to preform the cutting (if it’s possible to do this) …. Since I’m extremely new to this, do you recommend I begin with the Cricut first due to its user friendliness and possibly tackling the more complicated Cameo later in the future?
@TaniaGail

Yes. Or use any other design software such as Corel Draw, AI, Canva, etc...

I was under the impression for some reason that cameo 3 pen or holder would fit in the adapter, thereby using the insane power slot 2. I'm trying to verify now if I imagined that.

Great video. I am leery about having to upload *my* designs to Cricut’s design space. However, I will just limit what I use in the Maker 3 to none proprietary designs.

I have cricut explorer, I absolutely hate it. I've wasted sooo much materials. Print and cut is horrible. The most annoying thing is all the updates. Does the silhouette constantly update as well? I craft to relax, cricut stresses me out because it doesn't always work correctly.

Thank you for your video! By any chance has Silhouette responded to these “buggy” issues? I have a Maker with the black rubber pieces on the roller rod jumping out of place and wrecking my projects. This has stretched them out to the point that gluing them is ineffective. Because it’s out of warranty Cricut isn’t any help in spite of it being a known problem with videos and discussions all over the internet. I don’t want to risk this with another machine and I don’t like that my projects are stuck in Design Space. I was going to switch to Silhouette until watching this. If there is any recent information I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your wonderful reviews. It sounded like you previously had a Cameo 3 that you liked better, is that correct? Because I feel that the Cameo machines are the better machines that are faster and more robust and would be the best ones if the glitches were fixed. Also, I wish to do some wood inlay and wondered if you can do a comparison on cutting wood on these machines? Thanks again, Brenda
@TaniaGail
@TaniaGail 2 года назад
I've only owned the Cameo 4 - it was my first electronic cutting machine. I migrated to Cricut because of the chronic issues with the Cameo 4 that slowed down my learning curve. You are correct, the Cameo's are faster and give more precise cutting - especially with kiss cuts. However, the Cricut machines simply work. So there is a difference there but I have updated my cutting machines and will film this update this week. Stay Tuned!

Great comparisons. I have a Cameo 3 that I've had since it came out. I upgraded from the cameo one. I also have a Cricut Maker. I feel that is Cricut the more sturdy robust machine. The cameo is plastic the cricut is heavier, more metal better made. I like the cricut software better too. It's easier with a much less learning curve. I don't care about vectors and tracing radius or what ever. I just want to hit go.
