Sharing tips to using a cutting mat with the new Silhouette Electrostatic (ES) Bed. I am cutting 65 lb cardstock in this video.

It is not recommended to use a cutting mat with the Electrostatic (ES) bed with the Cameo 5 or Portrait 4. To use a cutting mat on the Cameo 5 or Portrait 4, disconnect the Electrostatic Bed and store in a safe, flat location while using the cutting mat for best results.
The electrostatic bed comes in the box with the Silhouette Curio 2. It can use a cutting mat in conjunction with the Electrostatic Bed due to the stationary bed versus the Cameo 5 and Portrait 4 where the ES bed rolls back and forth inside the machine.

I have seen way too many users cut through their cutting mat with too high of cut settings. If you cut through the mat and damage the ES bed, you will have to replace it. For this reason, I am still going to recommend the protective sheet, however, please read the information from Silhouette above. Each user can choose what method works for them and has the best results. I'll be testing more, but I would hate for anyone to have to purchase a new ES bed due to damage.
Tips:
- Use the option for manual height detection if needed. Measure the height at different areas.
- Test cut, test cut, test cut!
