Great tutorial. I just purchased my silhouette portrait 3. Your tutorial is one of the best. Hope you make more tutorials. I also am a planner girl. Hopefully this can help my planner sticker addiction. Lol.
HTV is normally pressed one layer at a time. You certainly wouldn’t want to press the registration marks as they would then be permanently affixed to your item. If you can’t press them onto the item then there is nothing for the subsequent layers to align to and creating them is in essence a waste of time. They would of course be very useful when using standard pressure sensitive vinyl as they could be pulled off after entire design is applied
Thanks for this :) Yes you certainly wouldn't want the registration marks to be pressed into the shirt! However you could stick a little piece of fabric tape down onto the t-shirt for the registration marks to go on, or a little square of fabric taped down etc. But when filming this I did have adhesive vinyl in mind which you can line up on itself, remove the extra squares and then apply to the surface :)
Great video well explained better than others. One question about the cut. do we cut one at a time or do we align together and program to cut each color
This is an excellent video, very clear, thank you. I am trying to create a Dr. Seuss chair for my library. I want to make Thing 1 on the seat of the chair. I've been using adhesive vinyl to label my library and create word walls (looks great). Will this type of vinyl be too hard to line up? I'm wondering if I should use paper or non adhesive vinyl and mod podge on top. Any suggestions? thank you so much!
Just getting started after many years of fighting with my Cameo. Thank you so much. This was a great video. Like the keyboard shortcuts is there a list somewhere?
This was a very helpful video. Can you make a video on how to go about cutting the image out on HTV. I am doing something wrong when selecting the colors to print. It is cutting out the entire image out of every color instead of just the part with that particular color. Thank you.
Hi! :) Just drag the whole image off to the side of your mat. Drag only the layer you want to cut (i.e. black layer) onto your mat, load the black vinyl and then cut that layer. Then drag that image off to the side and replace it with the next colour! :)
Hi there! If you wanted to cut this out of HTV (for ironing onto fabric) you would cut each layer out of the various colours of HTV and then layer them on top of each other to create the picture!
Hi there! There are a number of silhouette for beginner facebook groups out there which are great for asking advice - you can show people photos of what you're trying to do and go from there! :)
Thank you. I am using V-4 my cameo 3 is brand new so that is the only option that I have. I think I figured out my problem through trial and error. Thanks for the reply.
Hi! Sorry about that! Just hold down the 'shift' key and click each item :) Alternatively you can click and drag a box around the items you want to select :)
I really need some help, I uploaded the image I wanted to cut for a program but using the system is such a pain. I even bought an upgrade knowing I can do what I wanted to do. I spent days and tonight I gave up..if you could help me i Really would appreciate it. I'm doing this project for fathers day. Please please help me..
Can you please help me out? I am trying to make a decal of a rose but I can't seem to figure out how to separate the pieces, and they are only two :( Can I possibly email you the image? Thank You!!
I have the most frustrating time trying to fill in sections. I click to fill with color and nothing happens. It works in some sections, but not others. I have gone all around to make sure it's closed all the way, I have made it a compound path and made it NOT a compound path, I have selected all, I have deleted everything except the outline...and it still won't fill in. What is going on?? I'm at my wit's end.
A shape will only fill in if its a closed shape - the easiest way to tell if its a closed shape is to 'release compound path' and then double click on the shape. You should see all the points as little dots on the line - if there are any red dots, this means that there's an open gap and you should join the red dots together to close the shape! Hope that helps!
