Silicon Valley insider sounds alarm on how tech is "downgrading humans"

Former Google insider Tristan Harris says urgent action is needed to address the dark side of technology. Harris was among the first in Silicon Valley to share his concerns about people's dependence on technology when he spoke with "60 Minutes" in 2017. Now the former Google design ethicist is pushing for a new agenda for tech companies to stop what he calls the "downgrading" of humans. Harris, co-founder of the Center for Humane Technology, joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss the action that needs to be taken.

This how the drug price is set, they must know the TIME the PROBLEMS will occur & how many DEATHS are acceptable before the "People" start the lawsuits. This is the formula used to Increase Stock Value...This means the DEATHS are a known but the Stock Price can still be Increased over a time variable at this Price. How many "People" would take a drug if they knew...20% will DIE, 30% will have Complications, 10% will see no results but for out of pocket cost & the other 40% will see mild Improvements...You Think "People" know this but just want to spend their money because it's what they Want To Do? This is but ONE Great American Industry & How It Works!

@@alexthompson8434 except capitalism never goes in with an altruistic mindset, at least not until many times later. Capitalism separated labor and capital, so the importance of capital trounced labor, making profit making more important. You'd think we had learned our lessons from the past, yet these tech companies show we didn't. Re-infuse capital and labor in business practices then ethics will play a big part in all business decision making.

I don't think they need to do that. They just need to find a more profitable way of doing things differently, and they will do when they realize people's perception of technology is changing. On the other hand, I don't think the problem is in the tech companies. They sure have they responsability, but this is all new technology that goes straight to our brains, and we are simply not educated nor psychologically prepared to deal with it in a healthy way. I'm sure most people that developed this new tools honesty thought it was going to be for the better. I'm personally more dissapointed about how people are using internet than with what Facebook or Twitter are doing as companies.

"Technology that might make us feel more alive rather than killing us" That's part of an actual question. I'm in tears. You mean Facebook and Google haven't figured out the keys to life yet? On a serious note: we are alive. Machines will never be able to make us "feel more alive." We have to focus on removing the psychological and energetic blocks within us if we want to feel our aliveness. Gotta do the work man.

We have been embarking on the frontier (so to speak) of this technological breakthrough within the last decade, without understanding the ramifications of what is truly happening to us, and more scary, what will our kids turn into? Not just mentally but physically. Chiropractic care is already taking in so many patients because of the sciatica and neck problems from phones in pockets and hunched over people. This vortex world is freaky like twilight zone freaky!

It's fairly easy to correct, once you know what the problem is. 3 to 4 weeks of focussed attention. Oops, that's more than 2 minutes... Sewing machines are more or less the same problem. But yes, go out on the street and watch all those necks slowly deforming. Scary for some, a major source of income for any chiropractor.
