This video takes you through the steps of application and painting of a Dargan Skin 10 silicone prosthetic appliance encapsulated in Slaphead cap plastic. Available from www.mrdashbo.com
NEVER apply a silicone gel filled appliance this way. He goes way to close to the appliance and even brushes acetone over the whole thing at the end. The whole point is to retain the vinyl layer over the whole piece and never over-work the edges as you see him doing . You always roll away from the appliance with the q-tip and never go onto the actual appliance. I was cringing during this.
If you don’t have good edges it won’t blend into the skin. Usually after you remove this type of appliance it’s ruined during the removal process as it’s super soft silicone. I have a new application video being worked as we speak. Stay tuned
+Paulo Mauricio Santanna How has nobody replied in 9 months? Anyway, you paint a thin layer of cap plastic onto your mould before you pour the silicone. Airbrushing is the best method, but it can be done with a paintbrush. You want a very thin layer - just thick enough so that there are no holes or webbing. Make sure your cap plastic goes to the very edge of the mould, beyond where the prosthetic will finish.
