I fell off when my dad got sick this summer - that’s why I eventually started TikTok because it was way easier to be consistent. I’m coming back though! 🤍🤍
If you're a str8 natural, heat damage doesnt matter. The more you press it, the straighter it will be and it wont revert as fast. Heat damage only matters if you want to go back and forth btwn str8 and curly. As long as you're str8, you're good
hi! even though I wear my hair straight majority of the time I like my hair to be at optimal health…if you look at my thumbnail for this vid you can see even though my final result looks great the ends are somewhat see through and less dense/voluminous. but totally agree for some who wear it straight, the natural texture doesn’t matter! 🤍
@@gensai93 well, of course it is. That goes without saying. Keeping heat on the hair defeats the purpose of having healthy hair! You have to have some pretty resilient hair to constantly apply heat w no ill effects. I'm just saying it won't look as bad as long as it's straight. When it's curly, it looks terrible
You def don’t have to chop off heat damage. I’ve been a straight natural for years and go through periods of severe heat damage. As long as you trim and treat your hair properly it’ll grow itself out. The key is to figure out when you need moisture/protein
I'm a professional cosmetologist and I suggest that if you are a staight natural, having straight ends really doesn't matter. Your hair is healthy and breakage free. Your bonds are just loosened. I'm a straight natural and my hair looks a lot like yours. If you like to wear your curls sometimes, it would matter. I wouldn't stress out too much about it.
I tried the straight natural thing but I feel as tho it made my ends thin out so I decided to just go back natural and to do silk presses sometimes only. BUT I was going to the Dominicans to straighten it and that may have been why my ends was thinning out.
Don't chop it off. It still looks good. If it were breaking off that would be one thing, but it looks pretty healthy to me. Just because it is straight doesn't mean you have to cut it.
Hi Lisa do you have a video comparing the way you silk pressed (higher heat, not enough heat protectant, multiple passes) that lead to the heat damages ends? Versus the way you silk press now that is saving you from further damage? Thanks!
I also had heat damaged hair and I refused to do the big chop! If your open to trying new products K18 was really good in helping my hair. Only thing is I wouldn’t do a silk press because I find the leave in conditioner leaves a coating on my hair that made my silk press not as silky. And if it don’t work for you take it back lol 😂
😂 I’m gonna try that out! I’ve been using aphogee which I love but I’m always down to try something that’s worked for someone else! thank you for watching 🤍🤍
Do you silk press your hair weekly? I love your videos so much, I am trying to transition from relaxer to heat training and your tips have been helping a lot
I’m so happy you find them helpful 🥹 thank you for being here 🤍 right now I’m washing once a week - mainly because I work out quite a bit and I have to lol. By day 6/7 my hair is DIRTY + tangled!
Okay I’d say cut it ONLY if you’re not a straight hair natural and like to do natural styles. If you’re trying to build health, DO NOT put heat on your hair weekly. If you’re trying to grow out the straight ends please start protective styling. To get rid of heat damage you limit heat, incorporate more protein, and get a good heat protectant. Bond builders like olaplex could be helpful. You can try clay masks they help with heat damage as well. Your hair looks beautiful though.
thank you so much!! I say “about” 360 in the video because I have the Babyliss Pro that has a numeric dial vs digital reading so I can’t tell you guys precisely what temp 😩 but according to the key in the manual it’s about 360 lol 🤍
thank you + I love this! I have a trim appt coming up but I’m thinking maybe more layers to tackle more of the damaged hair? I’ll def update you guys…ty for watching! 🤍🤍
It it healthy to do acv rinse every time you shampoo? Itsnt that a lit of acid? And do you bring your ph levels back down by sshsmpooing after the acv rinse? I think you would like it if you cjop the hest damage
hi! It’s been very beneficial for my hair but everyone should do what works best for them. All the research I’ve done has said it can be done as often as once a week. ACV is acidic and this is why it’s important to dilute it. I do roughly a 1:8 ratio (ACV:water) to dilute it. + ACV rinses actually help to balance out your hairs pH! Diluted it’s roughly a pH of 5 whereas most hair products are closer to 7!
I have 13yr old locs. I do this to my hair to clean the inside of the locs. I was wondering if loose haired naturals would benefit from acv rinses like we do. Heck, I need to do one now!
Oh I love this! I honestly think they’re beneficial for all naturals. I’ve seen such a positive change in my hair since I started doing them consistently. Thank you so much for watching 🤍🤍
Just keep transitioning. Half my hair is damaged from a nasty DIY texlaxer smh. I'm just rocking my weekly presses while it grows out. Vitamins and water helps alot. I focus on moisturizing products and stopped the o.d. on the protein products because that caused more harm than good.
I say do the big chop. That way you don’t have to worry about it and you can just worry about your nee style. And the longer you keep the damage hair it will spread.
If you’re a straight natural most of the times maybe just clip the ends. I wouldn’t do a big chop just do a cut maybe a bob that way you have your fullness your looking for
@@elleinadasil I am also trying to grow out my heat damaged hair, but I want to wear my hair straight… I’m thinking of relaxing, just bc I think my hair would withstand heat better. I’d be great to not relax my hair and wear it straight mug I’m scared of heat damage…
I know it can seem a bit confusing but heat damage comes from carelessness not the heat itself. as you can see I have a head full of healthy curls under there with the heat damaged hair at the ends + I’ve been silk pressing this entire transition. you can def use heat while growing out your damage it’s just about taking all the right precautions + moving forward with healthy practices. you can def do it! 🤍
