The recap of Silo's first season finale is here, and we finally get the many of the answers we wanted. Of course, we also get a cliffhanger of an ending that opens up a whole new chapter for the series. In this video I'll break down the key events and details as well my own take on some of themes the Silo deals with.

“We all had a choice.” - probably one of my favorite scenes in a show. When Jules says that she no longer wishes to be of service to the Silo because it required killing curious souls 🥹😮‍💨 her father would’ve been so proud. The integrity, compassion, and courage required to say that while knowing the consequences (she didn’t know someone loved her enough to figure out how to save her) was some true Queen sh*t. Ive rewatched this episode so many times because the women killed it. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Whole episode.

"You are now free to move about the cabin". It's the final episode, so go crazy!

The silos are way too close together. The width of the staircase itself would barely fit in the circle around each silo, not mention the several layers deep of apartments and then support systems. There’s no way that the silos are that densely packed. Even the book author stated he hadn’t seen that shot and the silos were too close together. I think the silos are at least 10x further apart at a minimum just to fit all the support services in (electrical, waste, etc). Probably more for stability and redundancy. It appears they are underground because the atmosphere was contaminated in some way. So if the ground water is contaminated or there’s an earthquake or other ground instability, you would plan to have the silos further apart. In fact, I would put multiple groups of silos far apart from each other, if possible. This would increase the likelihood of some people surviving. PLEASE NO BOOK SPOILERS!

It could be that they're connected via support structures - don't forget the door, that hints that it goes somewhere, possibly to another silo.

A few points: • Simms probably knew about the condition all along, and chose to use it at the right time strategically. A supportive evidence for that is that his father trained him to keep secrets for the benefit of what he thinks is right and he's done that for all his adult life, with the added fact that he's willing to use aggression when necessary. • Bernard and the don't look scene: it's not that they were treated as kids, they were treated by aggression, that was used to prevent information that could cause beliefs and behaviors that would change the social order of the silo he's trying to keep. Simms submitted while being unhappy about it. He showed restraint 'cause he knows his social place - Bernard is more powerful than him, so he didn't fight him. He's able to and therefore did show behavioral restraint, but, again, was still unhappy about it. And without spoiling anything, I just want to say they you made good connections and asked great great questions, and viewers will get answers in later episodes.

When you said that 18 could be the number of the Silo, my stomach flipped. I can't believe I didn't think of that! it makes so much sense. That's why the hard drive was numbered 18, since it had all the schematics for that silo.

Good news, Season 2 is confirmed. Bad news, SAG and writers strike delayed it. So many burning unanswered questions! Like why the double reverse twist on the video of the outside? Was it really just to get the condemned to clean the monitor? Seems like an easier and more reliable way to clean it would have been to just install a spray mechanism on it. They've been teasing it since episode 3, so I have to think that there is even more going on with it. And again, great analysis as always!! :)

@@guyjpersonthe SAG strike definitely did delay it. The good news is: most of S2 was already filmed before the strike impacted it, so hopefully they’ll be able to complete it soon.

They clean it because like he Nautilus Files said, it's used as a social compliance mechanism. And they need to keep seeing the world outside to remember that because of that the Silo is the only safe place and therefore they should stay compliant, but only see someone die outside, to make people remember that _not_ complying is a bad idea. By setting up this cleaning motivation they get back to the camera before they die, insuring they stay on vision of it so people inside the silo can see them die.

@@galgrunfeld9954 If that is the case, then the people inside should see piles of bodies outside. Faking the helmet view takes a lot of high tech effort and seems a convoluted way to do things if that is its one and only purpose. I suspect that there is a lot more going on.

"You're not dieing, it just feels like it" is not at all a funny scene. I had panic attacks preventing me from leaving my appartment for 9 months after some work and family related issues. That scene emphases how important Jules is for Walker, because that is exactly what it feels like having a panic attack. I am honestly surprised that you said it was funny, because i cried all the way through and i think you have much more empathy. On the other hand I realiesed that i am happy that you never had an experience like that, because you would recognise this. If you are interested, read about panic attacks, demands a lot of work on yourself.

When do we think season 2 silo will be out? Is it too much to hope for a springtime release next year? I assume the actors strike delayed production for some time. But I’m dying for season 2 asap! 😢

I’m just gonna speculate that Bernard was trying to stop Juliette. Perhaps he was trying to mess with what she saw in the helmet. But it was too late by the time he got to the control or server room.
