Silver and Blaze Deserve Their Own Game

When we're done with the Fearless Year of Shadow, I'm so down for the GOATED Year of Silver. My boy needs his story and character course corrected. Blaze is still largely a good character but mostly because they never ruined her by putting her in more games. I do hope we see her and Eggman -REDACTED- again though. If they could somehow naturally create a story where the two of them come together again, I think there's a lot of potential there. They are personally my favorite characters to write for since they have so little material. EDIT after finishing the video: OMG you have a fantastic singing voice wtf

Blaze is literally my favorite Sonic character ever like woah she’s so cool. Also we did actually get to go to her dimension in Sonic Rush Adventure, but i think you’re point still stands because that game was more Marine’s game than Blaze. We didn’t learn about her kingdom or her family or anything

Silver and Blaze’s relationship is one of my most favorite stories I’ve seen told before. It’s such a unique and inspiring piece of art and I hope one day SEGA decides to revisit and maybe even improve upon it. But, until then, I guess we’ll have to wait.

Blaze's reputation got dragged through the mud when 06 came out. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind if Blaze and Silver were explored more as friends but I think Blaze holds her own and deserves better. Growing up I didn't own any home consoles and was stuck with the cheaper GBA and DS games. I got Sonic Rush when I was like 6 and Blaze's story of being bullied and developing a lack of trust when it comes to making friends really stuck with me since I related to it a lot as a kid. Having a character like that in my life helped me through so much and truth be told it still does. It's such a shame since I didn't know 06 was a thing until I got access to the internet at like 10 or 11 and learned she was being dunked on as a character just because she was paired up with Silver. It really doesn't help that the internet would just bash anything Sonic related during the early to late 2000s either.

It's actually really interesting, since if you didn't know, Dreams Of An Absolution is a love song! The writer of the song, said in an interview, that he wrote that as a love song to one of his ex boyfriends. So the sediment romantic angle fits perfectly, because that's what the song was. But it works SO WELL for either still being romantic, but also about Silver talking about his own destiny. Recently, and also thanks to this video. I've grown an appreciation for Silver. I always loved Blaze, when I was younger I looked up to her, and just wanted to be like her, just like with Amy. I wish most Sonic characters would get a year dedicated to them. Like I know, merch sales probably wouldn't be high for Amy or Blaze, but I don't care! The opportunity to explore these characters, either looking at their past, or trying out their future, is amazing! Sure I'm glad Shadow is getting his year, he used to be my favorite Sonic character ever. But again, I do wish a lot of these other characters had the same love that the "Main Four" did (I'd say Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow are the main four. Since they get all the general merch and attention). And as a writer, who mostly makes Sonic stuff. Then it's truly a shame that Sega won't use some of their other characters. Since they have just as much potential. By the way, you did an amazing job with this video! Again, it really made me appreciate Silver a lot more than I did. I remember when I was younger, due to the hate for Sonic 06. Then I used to think "Oh, Silver is the lame Triple S Member". But no, I think people SLEPT on him now. Though he's very hard to write, since he's an optimist and realist as he said in Sonic Forces. XD I hope this video gets more attention, and I'll totally be tuning in for more of your stuff! ^W^

Dream of absolution is hypnotic

There could absolutely be a way to get them together in a game, silver being from another time and blaze from another dimension or space, some kind of combination of those two ideas of alternate worlds would be cool to explore. Or they’d just retcon one of them again but please no 🥲

Ikr, there's so much wasted potential with silver and blaze, even though we did get to take a peep into blaze's world, it hasn't been fully realised. Imagine an open world blaze and silver game like sonic frontiers but taking place in the sol dimension, and you can shoot fire and fly. That would be so sick. You've earned a sub.

Its always nice to see a passionate video about the squandered potential of Sonic characters. There's PLENTY of missed potential in this series, unfortunately, and, like you said in the video, I agree that a good way to remedy that is through spinoffs. Part of why I love the IDW Sonic comics so much is that it gives us an opportunity to see these lesser used characters like Cream, Vanilla, the Chaotix, and of course Silver and Blaze. With Blaze I typically prefer her being from the Sol Dimension rather than going with the Sonic 06 retcon that made her part of Silver's future timeline but I can definitely see why you like what Sonic 06 did with the two as a duo, it added a lot of emotional connections to them which makes the villains feel like a lot more of a threat (I used to be a huge Mephiles fanboy partly because of the way he toys with Silver and Shadow)

I think there is a lot of untapped potential with 06 specifically and how it could play into future stories. As far as we're aware the 06 bad future is the original canon timeline before Solaris was erased and what's more that timeline, or at least remnants of it, still exists as seen in Generations where not only is crisis city still there but Iblis is obviously still there. Have a story where Silver is sent to Blaze's dimension and the two of them start to remember bits and pieces of the original time line. Perhaps finally give us an explanation on how and why Blaze was in Silver's world to begin with, either as a natural resident or a foreign entity. Perhaps the main villain is Iblis, still trapped somewhere deep inside Blaze, or perhaps fragmented and imprisoned in the sol emeralds. So much stuff you could do, so many cool stories to be told.

Before I even watch this video let it just be said that the fact that the only 3D playable appearance of blaze the cat is Sonic '06 is a goddamn travesty.

Probably my favorite duo in all of Sonic. I’d picture them having an Anakin-Obi Wan relationship where Blaze is more experienced but they both learn from each other. Why not throw Marine into this game too? If Blaze is the Sol Dimension Sonic and Marine Tails, who’s the Sol Knuckles? Shadow? I know it doesn’t make sense canonically but I’ve always headcannoned that Silver is the Sol Amy. Also great cover of Dreams of an Absolution

i was obsessed with dreams of an absolution too, i remember my uncle helping me burn a cd with that and some other music from Sonic 06 and brawl and i liked listening to that song on my cd player when i was going to sleep back then bc like dreams and stuff it was fun

Personally I think Silver is more popular and has more appearances in recent games and media than she does. I’d still love to see more of these two in the future

One of the newest comics silver and blaze relate to eachother because they completed their original goals. And they agree to take a vacation in Soleanna. I felt like a hole in my heart was filled. Because their adventure in Soeanna was originally erased and they are going there together!

Blaze and Silver are my favorite characters (I even cosplayed as Silver this year). I do think the classic 3 and Shadow deserve to be prioritized more since they are way bigger, but Blaze and Silver deserve their own game(s) next

I've been saying this for a while these two deserve their own standalone game with a great storyline.

I agree that Silver and Blaze deserve a spin-off game, there's soo much wasted potential in that duo. At first I didn't know much about them because they rarely appear, but in these recent years I discovered a channel in which the owner of it has his own version of Silver who does reaction videos, plays videogames, and does VR videos too. That helped me to see how much of a cute and abosolutely lovable character he can be, and he became my third favorite one beside Sonic and Shadow. After watching a video of all the cutcsenes from Sonic 06 I became more inerested in playing as Silver so I will no doubt try to download the P-06 fanmade remake of 06 after I get my own laptop PC sometime this year. I really like that Dreams of an Absolution song too, a true banger in my opinion. PS, have you ever known of the remix of it in which Jun Senoue made the music be more rock and roll style and Lee Brotherton sings the lyrics? I recommend it because I became truly impressed whith that remix after listening to it.

You took the words right out of my mouth! Glad to see someone who also agrees the same with me on Silver and Blaze. I also really like your interpretation of the Blaze and Silver duo, what makes them different from Sonic and Tails is that they're not a leader and sidekick relationship, they're just a dynamic duo that compliment each other very well, and both equals in that sense. One thing I wanna say though is that while I'd love a Silver and Blaze game, I'd honestly argue that Blaze needs her own standalone game as well because she has even more potential as a character for all the reasons you stated like the fact that Blaze's own dimension should be explored more, and most importantly Blaze and Cream should be together again like with Sonic Rush. I also imagine Blaze and Knuckles to get along well (even though throughout her story in Rush it was actually the opposite) since they both share basically the same role, Blaze guards the Sol Emeralds, Knuckles guards the Master Emerald, and both are serious about their job. Alot going on with her character which hasn't been expanded upon sadly. I think I yapped a bit too much there but yeah, Silver and Blaze are both among my top 3 favorite Sonic characters (and All Hail Shadow because he's obviously 1st place), and they are heavily slept on, both as a duo and as individual characters. They should also get the same treatment Shadow is getting for this year. I may be asking too much so I think the least Sega could do is just make them have important roles again in a future Sonic game.

I agree, Silver and Blaze deserve to have more exploration with their characterization and about their world. Especially Blaze's world. Since Sega is going out of their way to cleaning up the lore of Sonic, they might as well do it with Silver and Blaze -- due to the events of Sonic '06 being completely erased towards the end of the game. It would be interesting if they do something with it. I can totally see a cool gameplay of Silver. When I played Sonic '06 for the first time last year, I like Silver's gameplay. Sure, it's not perfect, but I wish the Sonic Team had more time to work on his gameplay and refine it. If they ever release a game about Silver, hopefully, they'll have the time to refine his gameplay and maybe explore more of what else he could do. :) Also, you have a nice singing voice! ^_^

I still want a Silver the Hedgehog solo game with Blaze as a playable character and part of the story. Archie proved how much you can do with Silver. And I really did like their story in Sonic 06. And Sega says "they don't remember each other" which isn't entirely true. In Sonic Colors DS, they each say that they're familiar to each other. Oh, and I like the Silvaze ship.

I really want Silver and Blaze to come back and be given a second chance to shine and be allowed to be far more than just cameos or bonus additions to a roster that doesn't use them to their fullest potential. I really hope that Silver and Blaze have their chance in the spotlight soon because these two have an incredible bond and they deserve to be a part of the main cast just like the others. They have a strong dynamic of being two characters who are completely different in how they function and yet, they complete and strengthen each other's weaknesses, making up for their shortcoming with their strengths. Seeing Blaze in Rush be this brave and compassionate princess who takes matters into her own hands was great to see and I wish she got a chance to be even more fleshed out in the games. I also adore Silver in the 06 game and while I can understand people's grip with Silver and the game, I still love Silver due to how he always tried to keep a bright smile and not falter for the sake of the people close to him. He is a person who has so much potential and deserves a second chance alongside Blaze. I can see why people might not like the recon of her origins from Rush to 06 but a nice way to see it is that 06 is like a universal reset where Blaze and Silver's lives were reset, causing them to live completely different lives from their 06 incarnations. Blaze is a standoffish and distant princess who often has the faith of others placed on her shoulders and is almost never able to be herself and enjoy her time as a normal girl depending on which version we talk about. Blaze either has the future of her Sol Dimension or the ruined future on her back and is constantly alone due to this. She is unable to express herself due to her responsibilities and duties and often feels the need to hide her true self from others and adopt the mask of a cold and decisive leader to help those around her. And yet the moment she meets Silver, she is able to be more open around him and be her true self, someone who wants connections with those around her. She likes Silver's optimism and wants to keep that quality of him at all times as she treasures his ability to remain hopeful in the most dire of situations Silver is a compassionate and kind soul who always does his best to remain optimistic even in the most dangerous situations and strives to save and protect those who matter to him. He always had the future of others on his shoulders and he had to even sacrifice his happiness to ensure a better future for others. He is always trying to be hopeful to give a glimpse of light for others and be a beacon for them. And yet when he meets Blaze, he is able to have someone who is able to guide him and keep him on the straight path. He is able to count on Blaze's counsel and cherishes her level headed approach to their issues and is able to be more focused when around her. I understand that people might not love the ship between Silver and Blaze but I really adore their dynamic, they have been fighting for a better future and have tried to live their lives to the best of their abilities and when they finally have the chance to win, they sacrifice the memories of the other for a better future. I really hope for a future game for these two and I really want the creators to explore their dynamic

I completely agree with your points! Silver and Blaze hold a special place. I remember watching Sonic X and waiting for a Season 4 so that Silver and Blaze would appear. Just like you I would replay Dreams of Absolution constantly and Silvaze was probably my first Sonic ship (one that I still ship to this day). Seeing how great Shadow has been treated this year gives me hope that one day these two will get the spotlight they deserve.

I imagine if they did something similar with Year of Shadow Like, Sonic Movie 4 taking elements from either Rush or 06, then it creates the momentum for a Year of Silver/Blaze, as around 2025/2026 will be the 20th anniversary of Sonic Rush and Sonic 06 respectively. Then a Silver and Blaze game is announced as well for a 2026 release (along with the hypothetical Sonic Movie 4). And there would be a short animation to promote the Silver/Blaze game, of course. I think it would be possible like that.

I absolutely love your videos!! they are awesome. I am an absolute huge sonic fan and its awesome to see people care and love about these amazing characters. I genuinely think we deserve a sonic 06 remake, because the story they were cooking Sonic, Shadow and Silver was so cool (as a dragon ball fan too).

At the very least, bringing back Sonic Rush on a home console would be cool and similar to Mario & Luigi Brothership as that game brought back a series that hadn’t been around in a long time. I think it is cool that you took the plunge, putting yourself out there and sharing your thoughts and love about Sonic. I have been a fan of the franchise for 20 years and have never considered what I think about Sonic to matter enough to anyone, let alone make videos about it. Yet, I consistently see people see folks like yourself put what you think out there and let whomever clicks with you a chance to say "that was pretty neat". It is pretty neat and I hope you keep it up.

I honestly don't like the "Negative Eggman's" name and would rather they call him "Negaman" or "Neggman" or something like that, but then he would sound too similar to Megaman... Maybe they ought to pull out that really old and ret-conned name "Kintobor" which was supposed to be Robotnik's original name according to some former Sega of America writer. Fun fact, the person who wrote Silver's theme said it helped him deal with a particularly bad break up with a previous boyfriend of his. which does give blaze and silver that feeling that there may be a romance between the two. (that panel with sonic saying they're good for each, seems to imply he ships them) but I doubt we'll ever see that aspect explored since Sega won't allow sonic characters to form relationships

I think you're already becoming/are a cool Sonictuber, your rambling is very relatable to me personally and I agree with a lot of your takes! I played Sonic Rush as a kid religiously mostly bc of Blaze bc I loveee her character (if you haven't played or watched it yet, there's a really cool Sonic Rush dub by Adrenaline Dubs too!), and her and Silver's relationship is so special to me. I also was obsessed with Dreams of an Absolution, still am tbh, and always saw it as Silver singing about Blaze, glad I'm not alone in that!

Blaze and Silver are absolutely amazing characters. Silver deserve his own game, sure Sonic 06 horrendous but you can't deny how great Silver character design was. I want to see him, Blaze and Marine in action as Team Sol if Sega and Sonic Team puts Marine in the game. Please, Sega put Marine in the mainline Sonic and spin-off games.

Sega should make spin off games again. Just because it didn't work once doesn't mean it wont work again. You can make a Shadow game, a knuckles game a team chaotix game i can see, stories there

Blaze should have her own game most of all. We've still have so much to learn about the Sol Dimension and her kingdom not to mention the princess herself. It would be a well blended mix of her graceful speed and powerful combat utilizing her pryokenesis. Maybe even a new power crucial to the story like...a blue flame that heals. Almost like Sonic Unleashed in a way. I think the story should be about her defending her kingdom from an ancient enemy that has a connection to her past.

As much as I too would like a Blaze and Silver spin off game, I can't think of how Sega would go about it. That is if we're talking about a game that co-stars both of them. (That sounded like what you were talking about in the video.) Because from my understanding they've abandoned the idea from Sonic 06 that Silver and Blaze are both from the same future. I think Blaze is now from another dimension while Silver still resides in the future from 06. I don't know how they would both naturally appear in the same circumstance unless Sonic Team approaches it in a similar way that the IDW series does in that they meet in the present to face a world threatening foe. However my concern with that is they won't have the same dynamic. In IDW they hardly interact, it's almost like they don't know each other. (Now that I think about it I'm not even sure they ever have a conversation together.) If Sega had kept the idea of both of them being from the future their dynamic would still be intact and a natural story could more easily surface. Now of course, Sonic Team could give us their original chemistry while maintaining the current lore by just assuming the player understands Silver and Blaze's relationship. I guess we'll just have to see. Great video!

Blaze is SO cool and such a strong personality in a very different way to other sonic characters, it feels like a very interesting area of character to explore more.. not to mention i'd love to see more of the sol dimension! i also loved her as percival in satbk the aesthetic is PEAK AND SILVER... MY SON. I love him so much, too....... there is something about characters who embody a very specific kind of hope - the kind that can be battered and bloody yet still rises to their feet to try again - that just Gets Me Every Time. I think an "open zone" style game could really mesh well with them both!

Great video! Blaze is my second favorite sonic character-I’m a knuckles fan, can’t describe why, just am-and I don’t know where I rank silver but I love that boy. People can say what they want about 06 from a gameplay point but we really gotta give its story credit, its actually really good when it comes to silver and shadow-only sonic campaign is weak even if he’s still written fine, it’s just kinda boring and I also get why people don’t like the time travel aspect-and it’s a shame because of how infamous the game became for the whole series reputation Sega didn’t want to do anything with Silver. He was in forces but that’s forces and we didn’t get a explanation why he was even there, but Blaze it’s even more sad she’s neglected cause I feel it’s not that hard to put her into stories. Yes she’s in another dimension but at this point tails could probably figure out a dimensional device so she can jump back whenever. So yeah i definitely love to see a game of them and probably one either focusing on the good future silver is from or more of blazes dimension, maybe a mix of both really.

I have a whole hypothetical silver and blaze game down to gameplay story and timeline placement. But someone brought up a fair point Silver and Blaze aren’t popular enough to hold a whole marketing campaign.. Actuallly no silver is. Actually yea put them together there’s no excuse

i dont think this was the intended reading, but i like to imagine "every night i will save your life/every night i will be with you" is silver constantly reliving the memory of blaze's sacrifice, imagining a better ending where he could have saved her. "and every night i will come to you/but every night it just stays the same", at the end of the day he always remembers blaze is and will stay gone. just my headcanon though ^^

I will say when it comes down to the comic line of sonic saying they work well together like him and tails, doesn't imply that they are like him and tails, it's ment more on how tails and sonic have been a team for so long and are able to rely on eachother

Amy is one of silver’s ancestors. Amy’s has some psychokinetic ability as evidenced by forces the fact shes able to use mere tarot cards as weapons and even a means of mobility. She is literally the only character from the present of Sonic’s dimension with any form of psychokinetic ability. This also implies that at the very least the book of Silvers family tree survives whatever new apocalypse crops up.

I agree silver and blaze are criminally underutilized. And its a shame because I feel they are two of the more interesting characters that haven't been fully explored yet. My only thought is if sega is determined to continue using the generations approach of old zones just keep popping up there isn't a better character to use than the litteral time traveller. And a 3d blaze game would be amazing because we could explore the soul dimensions in much more detail than a ds game can allow. Anyway just stumbled into your video and frankly I'm very impressed. And i look forward to seeing what you make in the future.

Id want a game where we play as Silver before and during 06, with him learning to use his powers and sending Sonic into space in 4k. I kinda hate how hes a part of a timeline that only happens if the bad end happens but its so cool.

Silver was given a very bad game.. My boy had potential. I remember falling in love with his story and absolutely liking his design on Sonic 06. I wish they reboot his character in a Sonic Adventure 3. Dreams of Absolution gives me the chills to this day..

a sonic spinoff starring both silver and blaze with cream and vector as side characters to the two would have been on par with the megadrive sonic games, the sonic adventure games on the dreamcast; the sonic rush games on the DS; the sonic advance games; knuckles chaotix, sonic mania and the three sonic games that came out on the Wii (secret rings, black knight and colours). marine the raccoon would also be a playable character, but this would not be just another sonic clone given their abilities. if they had remained in the hardware market beyond the dreamcast/gamecube/ps2/Xbox cycle this particular title would have been a possibility and made use of the lindbergh's capabilities. sega execs should have chanced it with this spinoff.

This video was great I LOVE Silver and Blaze and their dynamic they have always been interesting characters that need to be explored in a spin off game they're so much potential both story wise and gameplay wise also I subbed to your channel and will be DEFINITELY there for future videos, keep up the great work!

14:20 I think the writers intended for it to mean that Silver and Blaze feel like siblings in general with how they always have each other's back and are always sincere with one another. Sonic and Tails don't ever call each other "brothers" in canon (as far as I know), but we know that they're written with those feelings in mind.

I want a new sonic rush game, and a silver solo game. But I would want the two separate, please. Idk what is it with people thinking like silver and blaze are made for each other or something. They're not. It just makes them more like soulless marketing brand for us ignorant losers to be satisfied. I wanna see world building with new characters.

Notice your work placement there silver and blaze deserve their own game. That's the reason why they don't have games anymore blaze is her own character with her own universe yet Sega will not let us see it and who knows what type of effed up dimension silver deals with on a day-to-day basis before calling it quits and asking for Sonic for help. The simple reality of it is where is a blaze game co-starring silver.

Alright let's do a recap how sega handled these two: Blaze: Sonic rush: her first appearance and with a good story Sonic rush adventure: it was also very good Sonic generations: literally does nothing... Team sonic racing: literally does nothing aaaand never seen the light of the day again other than remembered who is blaze nothing else Silver: Sonic 06: his first appearance the game sucked but he had a great arc character arc and story Sonic generations: literally does nothing..other than exist as a bossfight Sonic forces: getting his ass beat by infinite and arguably get nerfed and weaker in forces. Team sonic racing: nothing.. Wow..they neglected him really bad atleast blaze was less butchered but only forgotten.. It's like sega doesn't know what to do with them which it really sucks because these characters have untapped potential

Wouldn’t it be cool if we got a sonic game where sonic was out of commission and everyone else got to be playable as they tried to defeat eggman, who’s taking the chance to try to take over the world again while Sonic can’t stop him.

Blaze really doesn’t need Silver as much she can hold her own in her own game. I’m in the same boat as you I don’t know much about Blaze but now I’m in love with her she’s an amazing character and definitely needs more love. Plus Sonaze for the win ^^

I actually have an idea for a Silver the Hedgehog game, with Silver, Blaze and Espio as protagonist, and another 2 secret playable characters. Why those 3? Because Silver and Blaze are an iconic duo, Silver and Espio are best friends acording to both the Rivals games and the IDW comics (wich are canon), and I can see Espio and Blaze being really close friends (alsoIkindashipespioandblazebutthat'sneitherherenorthere).

This title holds much weight, because omg we haven't had a spinoff of Sonic games in what... 20 years😮 wow I'm a dinosaur

I'm down with a Blaze the cat game, she's my favorite character. But I feel like if they're going to get their own games, they should be separate games. Blaze has an entire world and dimension that could be explored. As for Silver, perhaps there's other characters we could meet in the future. I second the comment that Blaze was essentially "dunked on" when Sonic '06 came out. She seemed like such a cool character in Rush and she could go toe to toe with Sonic himself. She seems like a capable character who could hold her own. But I feel like being in Silver's shadow kind of ruined her. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with them just being friends, I just don't want Blaze to essentially be Silver's shadow and side kick. I'm also not crazy about the "Silvaze" ship I feel like it just came out of nowhere because Silver was a new character and such. I mean, if people feel that way, they do them and we can respectfully agree to disagree. But I'd prefer if they were separate entities.
