What a nice surprise in my YT feed - long overdue, my friend. Nice to see you and Natalia weathered the Covid storm nicely so far, and that you've had the chance to stretch your legs in the great outdoors. The boat..lol Can't believe you paddled that tuna can around and didn't sink.. haha. I was, however, really hoping you's hook into a fat brookie. But it appears you were able to enjoy some forest bounty just the same. Thanks for sharing, David! Stay safe!
I did enough laps in the tuna can to put luck on my side but not even a bite. Those twig ribs added into the canoe gave me a good laugh. Good news is I've got a lot of days off to find them in October and in a fanicer floater.
Right at the start of the film, that is a Black cherry tree; not a Black birch. Not likely to see many Black birch trees in that particular forest ecosystem.
It's a good idea to have options and be happy to trip on foot if temps make canoe travel difficult. I've not experienced that tho and have been going in October for a few years..even early November. I like having a puff jacket for the mornings and a fire at night. Just over pack warm and dry gear if you're concerned.
Hey Bobby, thx for checkin in. I plan to be out a bunch in Sept and Oct..one advantage of less work right now. im just not settled on destinations yet. I want to check out a lot of new sites like Brook Trout Pond area in West Canada Lakes. With my solo I can go further and faster! Will you be up there?
NatureIntoAction Yeah I plan to be up in the SRCA there middle of next month! Gonna see if the brookies are active. May have to wait a little longer. I hear the West Canada Lakes Wilderness is stunning. All the best on your trips. Looking forward to the videos!
I've learned most of the edible choice mushrooms in NJ NY. I would never eat a new to me mushroom the first time while out on a trail. Just learn and confirm 1 at a time till you know them well.
