Silver Surfer (NES) - Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN) 

"HE LOOKS SO STUPID" is a criminally underrated AVGN line. The delivery was perfect. This entire episode is an underrated gem, actually. The delivery of all the lines is spot-on. He doesn't sound like he's acting. He just sounds like a really pissed off nerd.

The worst thing abou this game is the fact that Silver Surfer has the power of intangibility in the comics, so he could just go trough everything they throw at him...

That crossfade to AVGN in the surfer pose is the funniest thing I've seen in a while. Classic.

"I CAN'T TOUCH THAT RED POT?!" is still one of my all-time favorite Nerd moments. The way it comes right after "ANOTHER MOTHER FUCKING PUMPKIN" gets me every time.

Does anyone else get an immense feeling of comfort when watching his old videos? I’m not sure if it’s nostalgia or what but it really soothes my mind. Just how simple yet creative these earlier episodes are really what I think keeps me coming back to them. James’ mind spawned such comical and wonderful bits of video game commentary

Silver Suffer.

AVGN introduced me to Silver Surfer NES which introduced me to Tim and Geoff Follin, phenomenal video game composers who’d break barriers with each score they composed. RIP Geoff Follin

All these years later this is still my favorite episode. To me this is the best example of the nerd consistently rising in anger throughout almost like a perfect curve, starting from not caring much about it to hating it do to the ridiculous difficulty.

You know a person is funny when you can re-watch old videos you've seen many times and still laugh like you don't know what's going to happen next

The man who beat Ghosts n' Goblins TWICE without save states can't beat a single level of this game. Wow. That really says something about the difficulty.

Silver Surfer is actually one of the most powerful and indestructible characters in the Marvel universe. For him to be killed simply by bumping into dull, inanimate objects is one of the most insulting things I've ever seen in a video game.

"Another mother-_fucking_ pumpkin." is without a doubt my favorite AVGN line. I always makes me smile. Heck, this entire episode has a lot of his best lines.

5:44 I just noticed that one of the jack-o-lanterns is like "oh shit" after it accidentally impales itself on a spike.

Silver Surfer is supposed to be almost invincible, they made him as weak as a kitten in this game!

The more I look at Silver Surfer, the more he looks like a knock-off precursor to Pepsi Man

One thing I did notice is that your projectiles will tell you what's an obstacle. If the projectiles don't go through something, neither can Silver Surfer. You have to keep firing constantly even with no enemies because your projectiles will tell you if you're heading for certain death. Especially on the overhead levels. So invest in a turbo controller if you're playing this game. Really they should have made it so you could just hold down the button. "What were they thinking?"

Still my favorite episode. He just gets right to the point explaining the game and genuinely feels pissed. He doesnt look like he's acting. No long intros. And keeps special effects to a minimal. This is classic style nerd episode.

10:25 "Isn't he supposed to be pretty strong?" If by that you mean a low tier cosmic level entity and Herald of Galactus then yes he's "pretty" powerful. Realistically everything he's fighting in this game shouldn't pose even the minorest of minor threats.

9:11 No matter how many times I watch, it catches me off guard every time. Its also funny because the Silver Surfer is supposed to be something of a demigod in the Marvel Universe. Healing powers, near invulnerability, the Power Cosmic, ultra-fast flight, etc. so he is definitely supposed to be powerful.

9:12 is still my favorite transition in a video EVER. Always makes me laugh hahaha

TLDR: Silver surfer is practically a god, yet this game has him fighting rubber duckies as equals...

I guess you can say this game went *overboard* with it's difficulty.

You know, this is one of my favorite AVGN reviews. Mainly because sometimes when he swears, he shows his face to the camera. It's awesome.

love it when you see the AVGN imitate the Surfer's pose of defeat. although it's more utter desperation than a sense of being beaten.

After watching every episode 2 times, this remains THE funniest AVGN episode in my opinion.

I've watched this episode more than a dozen times, and I can NEVER see that camoflaged bullet coming through the trees until the close up. How anybody is meant to be able to beat this game is beyond me.

After a lot of deliberating I have to say that in my opinion this is the best AVGN episode. I mean the Ninja Gaiden episode was awesome and I keep rewatching the Castlevania reviews, Bugs Bunny episodes are cool as well but honestly whenever you're pissed off, just watch this episode and you will feel a lot better. This episode is the epitome of genuine frustration and the best nerd episode to date.

I'm a fifth grade teacher by now and I recently had some Video Game History lessons. I took this shit to school, had the entire class play this mess and went like "Here you go! Enjoy my childhood you little shitheads". That session was priceless.

Coincidentally, Marvel Comics has a character named Silver Surfer who looks kind of like that. Except he's interesting and his surfboard moves gracefully like a, you know, surfboard. Instead of a tin-plated orthogonal turd being straddled by a human/balloon-animal hybrid that dies constantly. I smell a lawsuit for somebody.

One of all time best episodes of AVGN. Humour and analysis of the bad elements are perfect. Remember watching it back when it came out and started to love the AVGN Series.

The part where Silver Surfer game over screen transitioned to AVGN with a pose that reflects his disappointment and despair towards the game is hilarious. This is truly one of the most iconic moments on RU-vid.
