1st November 2021, the Island Line from Ryde Pier Head to Shankin reopened to the public after a nearly 11 month closure due to upgrading the line
In this Sim0nTrains Rail Journeys, Sim0nTrains rydes the 8 mile Island line from Ryde Pier Head to Shankin calling at Ryde Esplanade, Ryde St. Johns Road, Brading, Sandown, Lake before reaching Shanklin and travel on the brand new Island Line Class 484 trains.
Please come onboard as Sim0nTrains experience this very interesting day as he visit a part of the UK that he hasn't visited in all his life!

I really enjoyed watching this Simontrains Railway Journey I agree with you the new trains do look amazing despite the cancellation and delays you still managed to visit all the stations along route I will agree with you also about the fantastic views of the sea at Lake Station the views are awesome there it definitely looks like it’s worth a visit to travel on the new trains and take in the views it’s also understandable that these trains will have teething problems but eventually they will settle down and run with no issues over a course of time I look forward to seeing your next Simontrains Railway Journey until then take care buddy and stay safe

Thanks Sam, the disruption usually is negative but this day was really funny. I was on the train when they announced the 0845 got cancelled and everyone on the train just burst out laughing!

Great vlog. Can't wait to get back to the island did you know the signal box at Ryde St John's is second hand from Waterloo east I believe. All hand me downs just adds to the chalm of the island .

Don't forget Wroxall station, which was between Shanklin and Ventnor. Incidentally, another problem with Ventnor is that the original station was approached via a tunnel which now has a large watermain down the CENTRE of the tunnel, which precludes running trains through it!

Great vlog Simon. This brung back some memories of going to the Isle of Wight. I've never actually been on the line itself but i have been on holiday to the island and visited some places. The views down there are just stunning. The walk from Shanklin to Sandown is incredible too. If you can remember, it was me who actually asked you about the isle of wight in your Q&A and i knew from there that you would go. Once again, thank you for the memories. Looking forward to the next vlog.

Thanks James, there was no plans for the Island Line this year until the date was announced and checked into it, ticket prices, hotel prices but as soon as it was possible, the plan changed and decided that it was the Wight time to visit the Island. Thanks James.

brilliant first of all the class 484s look amazing brilliant upgrade to the isle of wight but hard to notice that they are ex district line trains also its amazing to see the isle of wight again ive been onto the island a few times and i really recommend everyone to visit the island in the summer you get awesome views from the coastal towns and theres a lot to see but even tho the trains only run between Ryde and Shanklin but the buses connect the rest of the island brilliant vlog

I might consider it. Rail tickets can be used on the Hovercraft but the Ferry was from station to station so it was much easier for a first timer.

No it was easier to take the Ferry since it right next door to Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier Head Stations, like a 30 second to a minute walk between the 2 stations from the Ferry terminal, the Hovercraft terminal, you need to take a free bus to get to the hovercraft terminal at Portsmouth and also at the time, I thought you have to pay for a separate ticket for the hovercraft but the rail ticket is valid as well. Also they have raise the platforms up but they haven't to Brading but they have rebuilt the former disused platform at Brading, thanks Jacob
