Thanks for sharing brotha! I'm looking at getting this pack so I can film better for my channel. Darn sling packs get in the way of. A chesty mount.... all in all... how is the pack with water?
Got1Fishing Glad I could help! It's a awesome pack. It's really good with keeping water out. Only time I have had water get in, is with some serious deep wading chasing fish. Keeps rain out really well.
Thanks for getting back to me! I ordered one and it will be here tomorrow! =] Can't wait! I've used a sing pack and chest pack... so far the chest pack is my favorite cause I don't have to sling it around EVERY time I want to tinker around. Just Can't film with a chesty mount that way. Hoping I love this hip pack as much.
Landon Mace thanks. I just didn't want to to drop the money on something that's dedicated to fly fishing, I want something that allows me to packs at least 2 tackle boxes since I'm mobile while bass fishing and I use everything from soft baits to crank baits, jerk baits, frogs. Thanks again!
Hey Landon, Did you find this pack heavy before and after you loaded it up with gear?? I'm eyeing their new pack Simms Dry Creek Z Fishing Hip Pack and it's a whole 9oz lighter and VERY comparable storage space. The only thing it lacks is extra pockets, mesh pockets and maybe a work bench. Is work bench a deal breaker for you?? I've gotten this far without a work bench, and never really cared to pursue one when looking for a hip pack until recently.
mike n I personally did not, but I will be honest in saying that I have never been an individual to factor in weight or count ounces. If that helps answer your question. Ha. The shoulder strap however will alleviate any weight off the hips, which is a big deal to me. Not utilizing the shoulder strap did make the hip straps extremely uncomfortable. I do however utilize a lot of those extra pockets around the sides. Great extra quick access storage. I could live without the bench though. I never use it and I do mean never. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the quick reply Landon! I didn't think so. I've always been a sucker for extras. That work bench doesn't seem like a deal breaker to me anymore. That insight about the shoulder strap was spot on. Thank you for your tips and advice! I plan on using this pack for other things than salmon and steelhead. I'm a huge black crappie/bass/and perch fan so it's nice to be able to carry your entire tacklebox on your hip :)
Paul Vannoy It does not have a dedicated net holder. I simply run the handle of my Rising Lunker net between my pack & back and it does not go anywhere. Sits really well there.
