He's got a great record at a few clubs below Championship level, but he probably only did well above that because Sheffield United was his club and he took them all the way. There's plenty of managers who have done well with promoted teams who then went on to struggle elsewhere.

Wilder expected untold riches on the back of that season in the Prem with Sheffield, United. With his ego he probably expected calls from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. He's an absolute mercenary in it for himself.

Wilder attacked his players at Sheffield United and they ended up well adrift at the bottom. Yes he turned those players into Premier League players, but they also turned him into a Premier League manager. Conte gets hammered for attacking his Spurs players, yet he's managed top clubs and won titles.

I mean as a Watford supporter we have so many issues at the club at the moment. Personally never liked the appointment of Wilder, really thought we should've given Rob a chance or just let Slaven have it until the end of season but something desperately needs to change for us

Remember wilder said there was 8 or 9 individual mistakes leading upto a goal against Cardiff. Surely the manager needs to accept responsibility in that situation. He played full backs at centre back to give weight to the need for a left footed signing at centre back and basically shot the team under the bus. Then his system is all about attacking wingbacks and he proceeded to drop our 2 best wingbacks at Coventry this season before he was sacked. Im sure it was done to prove a point at the very best or to get the sack at the very worst. Takes no responsibility as a manager in my opinion

Leeds had a string of useless managers who hid behind the players and the fans used to blame the players. Bielsa came in and turned those players into Premier League players and took them to 58 points - more than Man United got into the top 6 with last season.

I dont like him as a person but he's a good manager with lower league players. He gets them organised and difficult to beat. And he always demands 100%. I think this is why he's never been successful at a top level. And why when he had the funds and premier league status available. He was unable to sign players that could fit his mould. I imagine if he inherits a squad full of high earning high maintenance players with a difficult owner it just wouldn't work.

Wilder is saying everything a Watford fan has thought for a few years. Good Managers have been sacrificed for two or three years and the reality the players don’t care and have not been held accountable. This is no different to what’s happened to Man U, Everton and Chelsea. Wilder can’t fix it in the time he has, as it requires getting rid of half the squad! So Jordons wrong, so wrong!! He really should tone it down as he’s not had to sit there week on week, as a season ticket holder watching such drivel. The fans have now also let the players and it’s owners know that it is no longer acceptable. I respect Wilder for his comments. I believe they are in context with his role now and nothing to do with his past!!

Jordan is assuming that for all fans being in the Premier League is the be all and end all... there are many fans that would prefer to be supporting their team in the Championship or lower leagues then see their club run in the hideous manner that Watford is operated. No quality, no loyalty, and a slowly dissipating club heritage. Class and loyalty is more important than winning.

Whatever else Simon might be, he comes across as a bitter and twisted ex owner. Talking down and across people doesn't make his opinion correct. He clearly doesn't understand the way in which the owners autocratic 'regime' is slowly stripping away our club culture. Simon sees it as success or failure and appears to have little interest in how that is achieved and at what cost. There is more to a club and the club's supporters than the heady reaches of the Premier League, especially if what you are left with is an empty vessel when it all ends.

It’s the manner of it though for me. A total disconnect from the board and players to the fans! Watching players like Sarr on £70k a week or whatever he’s on just stroll around the pitch and not play for the shirt (he’s not the only one) sticks in the throat! I see all sides in fairness but Pearce hit the nail on the head, it’s sad to see what we’ve become. We’ve sold our soul and identity to make a few quid! Giving long term contracts to ageing/injury prone players is scandalous. Not investing in the defence properly when we were in the premier league was scandalous. Wasting £6m on Okoye & £5m on Bayo was outrageous! Too many issues at the club to detail in a message. 90% of the supporters have had enough of this model that has had its day and no longer works! We want to see young, home grown hungry players playing for the shirt no matter which division it’s in!
