The only issue I have with the situation is that Vieira didn't kick the fan harder! Absolute muppet, you do that to someone in the street they act alot worse than that. People saying Vieira shouldn't have reacted, why is the fan on the pitch in the first place? If the fan isn't on the pitch or just acts like a normal person he doesn't get kicked, but he acted like a clown & it's only going to carry on until the PL & EFL do something serious about it!
Violence begets violence , no one attacked him physically he escalated the situation to Violence ....if that crowd were all animals like they are suggesting why wasn't he absolutely smashed up ? He wasn't he was then escorted by other fans.
As Tyson said...social media has made people too comfortable disrespecting others and not getting punched in the face for it. This lad thought he could speak to Vieira in person like he would online but once Patrick challenged him back he didn't want to know. Typical social media generation.
The thing with that caveman moron logic is some people are offended by everything and ashamed of nothing ...can't go around attacking everyone who perceives to disrespect you, the great Viera can't be called a Muppet without resorting to violence.
Even I would jump in and escort him And I know split seconds others would I don't condone violence on weekdays But on Sunday only ( get arteta I say lol )
When Everton had the reputation of racists in the city of Liverpool are all Everton fans, a few days earlier Everton fans where racially abusing the parents of black Brentford players in the crowd and now when their team has a won and survived and should be celebrating, this fan goes over to Vieira shouting aggressive abuse at him, showing the world Everton really is a club for racists. Vieira took that anti-racism campaign literally Kick it out.

He assaulted the guy. Watch the film. Yes, he was being filmed and i have no doubt, he was being provoked, but since when was that an excuse to hit someone. The common law defence of self-defence also doesn't apply, because Viera INITIATED the violence. At the very least, the FA needs to take action. At the most, there maybe grounds for charges.
Viera is the manager of Palace. Managers inhabit a technical area at the side of the pitch. If Viera was strutting the pitch, it was because HE CHOOSE to be there. So it was Viera who put himself in that situation.
@@cromwell8653 every manager goes onto the pitch at the end of the game. This is not a complex situation. The fans shouldn’t be there. It’s the law. Simple.
It was not a violent crowd at the end it was joy and pure relief , and that lad called him a muppet and he turned round and booted a lad half his size ..... You don't punish Viera, you are basically saying it's ok for a fan to kick a manager off his feet.
I think Viera will get in trouble sadly although no one will blame him. I watched the incident the fan basically just shoved a phone in his face and shouted abuse at him then turned to walk away then Viera snapped so self defence is probably not going to wash although the fan deserved it and im sure he will get banned from going.
He didn't get hands laid on him and he chose to walk across the pitch rather than stay in the dugout and wait for it to calm down, that being said no one's pressing any charges so move on.
@@bluenose007 No, the guy was in his face giving him abuse: it's a proportionate pre-emptive strike in self defence which actually defused the whole situation.
If a "fan" runs at a player DURING a game, that player (or players) should be allowed to take them down, because you never know. They might be armed. DON'T GO ON THE PITCH! I mean, does someone really need to get stabbed first before something is done? Is that it?
From a logistical perspective, it's a nightmare. I'm a security officer and I've done football matches. When there's a pitch invasion of that magnitude, we can't protect anyone, especially players and staff.

Sky have been broadcasting/covering Everton fans over the last few weeks intimidating the away teams. I don't want to say it is the only cause but does seem to aggrovate and encourage mass fan problems. In my opinion...
It has to stop before someone is seriously injured or even killed, Warn all supporters if they come on the pitch their season tickets will be stopped and a banning order in place, I agree with Simon it has to be the police not stewards who should be all around the pitch especially at PL clubs if they can spend millions on players and staff then they can afford to have the police in the ground to make it safe for everyone, we have to remember a lot of kids attend matches with their parents and if this is not stopped soon then the future generations will think this is acceptable behaviour which obviously it’s not, it’s just a matter of time before someone gets killed or the away fans come onto the pitch then we are back into the 70s/80s and well get banned from European games once again.
Tories cut 20,000 plus police, mate. Never gonna happen. What clubs and the league can do is spend more on more roigorous security in greater numbers. Agree with what you said though.

If someone comes into your close personal space, and makes you feel in danger and threatened, you are allowed to use reasonable force to remove yourself from that situation. Viera did not follow up, and continue to attack the fan, once he’d got him away from his face. This is the law, whether people like it or not. We have to live by what the law is, not what we think it should be. Also, the person goading/threatening Viera is committing a criminal offence by being on the pitch.
Unfortunately Nick, your interpretation isn’t correct. Reasonable force wouldn’t be substantiated in this circumstance. At no point did the fan physically assault Viera, nor was anyone else being attacked. He wasn’t defending property either. Albeit, I think Viera did everyone a favour.
They should actually show that video to kids in schools so people understand before they get to adulthood that you cant just get in people's faces and expect nothing to happen

Patrick Vieira has been a revelation this season managing Crystal Palace - Many questioned his ability to step up to management from being a legendary club player for many legendary players have tried and failed to be able to mange top club football teams. Patrick has delivered a fantastic management job for Crystal Palace. If Patrick gets charged for misconduct at Everton then all decent football fans will be outraged for he did nothing wrong.
The only way to stop this is by effecting the result of the game! I.e. Everton docked 10 points = Everton fans crying that they were stupid enough to come on the pitch! Nottingham Forest banned from Final = Notts fans crying that they were stupid enough to come on the pitch! Northampton docked 10 points next season = Northampton fans crying that they were stupid enough to come on the pitch! Port Vale banned from the final = Port Vale fans crying that they were stupid enough to come on the pitch! Huddersfield Town banned from the final = Huddersfield fans crying that they were stupid enough to come on the pitch! This will scare other fans not to go on the pitch or else their team will suffer! Harsh but fair before someone gets killed!
Vieira didn't even do much of anything. Also, looking at the video, Patrick ignored the guy pretty much up until the end when the kid was running away which makes me think the kid said something, maybe it was racial maybe not, to make Vieira turn to engage
We need a zero tolerance towards people coming onto the pitch and that includes sanctioning the parents/guardians of the children increasingly running onto the pitch asking for players shirts.
This can so easily lead to a stampede, and considering there are infants in the stadium, it is extremely disappointing to see emotions get the better of fans, which can lead to severe consequences.
You wouldn't get your "infant" do a game like this number one... Number 2 Infants? Come on bruv. Yea they just popped out of the mother to go to football
Simon is an elitist so of course he'll back Vieira. Nothing happened to Vieira, he was the one who attacked the fan. Vieira was always an overrated hack who always got bullied by the superior Roy Keane and now he's just butthurt all these years later by attacking fans. Sorry but football is about the fans and not elite losers like Simon Jordan. The Everton fans showed passion which is lacking in our game today. Everything is too politically correct.

That's an odd way of dealing with it, maybe rival fans will sit in the opersite end and run on the pitch to get their rivals deducted points, so your theory is already broken. Grounds are full of camera's so if it's such a big problem then start handing out long bans for any fan who enters the pitch.
Spent years not liking Vieira despite respecting him as a footballer. When I watched the footage I was rooting him on and I now have a newfound like for him. If he had kicked the guy's head in, I'd have been on his side 100%.
It was a glorious pitch invasion. Did you watch it? No-one got hurt, and Lampard was celebrating with the fans on the pitch, it ended up being a massive party. Viera was just in a bad mood because his team lost. This is all a load of bullsh*t. So far, between this and the Forest pitch invasion, thousands of people have been on the pitch and only two physical assaults occurred, and one of them was committed by Patrick Viera! Jordan and Keown are right. Vieira shouldn't be charged with anything. We live in an age where some people think it's okay to spout vitriol [e.g. on social media] and expect no comeback. This thinking can translate into physical behavior: Some people think it's okay to put hands on someone, again with no comeback. It's not.
I don't know why young folks this days are so disrespectful to their elders. Parents should teach this young folks morals and respect. Why don't you move on and join the celebration instead of jumping in front of the opposition Coach. Yeah blame younger people as if these pitch invasions only started recently. The older generation shouldn't have done it years ago, didn't set a great example
Ah yes, like this didn’t happen in the parents’ generation and earlier. I swear people need to do some research before making some generalisation that they think will solve everything

The one lad who was being disrespectful, He walked away from Viera , Viera chose to then assault him and escalate the situation...he was about 20 yards from the away exit
Na else viera wouldn't have gone after the fan. People are ignoring the fact viera was walking away but heard something he didn't like, then went after the fan. 2nd time in a Week Everton Fans have been in Headlines for Fan behaviour…. I watched a video earlier in the Week which featured a House that was flying a Liverpool Flag celebrity their FA Cup Win…. Apparently this was very close to Goodison Park and certain Evertonians wasn’t happy…. So about 50 brave warriors turned up at the House banging the Doors and Windows, shouting and threatening, throwing eggs and other stuff at the House until 1 flag managed to climb up and get the flag…. I hate Liverpool also but there were Young Kids in that House who will now be terrified to go to sleep at night, the Father said the Kids were obviously traumatised, imagine being 6 years old and seeing 50 Men acting in a violent manner while a few of them make a half hearted attempt to gain entry to your Home, they must have been petrified, imagine what they were thinking???? I bet they thought they were here to kill them and their mother and father…. I really hope those involved are proud of themselves, proper hero’s them lot, I bet none of them would have even mentioned the flag if they had to knock the door on their own COWARDS…. Things like that level of trauma have a massive impact on their Life’s and will be a factor on what kind of Person they are gunna be when they are Adults…. If it were Me and trust Me I’ve done bad things in the past but the thought of Me being the reason that Young Kids are afraid to be in their own Home I would go back and apologise personally
Let it go you bitter little so and so , she knew what she was doing putting the flag up yards from goodison and no one threatening to kill anyone touch dramatic there .... Fine for Liverpool to intimidate/force residents to move for the new stand.

"Who's going to pay for it?" If it keeps going on like this it could be fatal from crushing or fan altercations. think off the children and the vulnerable. For the amount of money that's in football safety should be priority. Pretty sure the FA and the clubs can afford the police presence.
Everton should be docked the 3 points and a heavy fine for a pitch invasion. Only weeks ago a fan tied himself to the post during a game. Security firm should be sacked. Viera is innocent
Honestly Vieira was so lucky, that could have turned really ugly for him. Surrounded by opposition fans and that happens. Him lashing out and kicking at a fan could have turned into a pile on. I cant believe the police wasn’t escorting him
Hmm. I have zero love for Everton. The fan was an absolute prick and would’ve deserved worse. However, I’ve seen plenty of Everton fans defending Viera and said many people would’ve KO’d the fan (deservingly). My thoughts were initially the same but to the credit of a sane portion, some seemed to usher Viera away whilst the coward who harassed and abused him cowered away. On a side note; he has every reason to be extremely angry at a mass pitch invasion during the game- aside from the harassment/ abuse. Surprised nobody is addressing points deductions as it won’t have been the first time to happen.
The fan was having bad banter at the wrong time emotions will be high but viera wasn't put in a position he had to defend himself, he exploded and lashed out, he was the only man to swing there... He could have highlighted this incident after the game and everybody would have seen him being ridiculed.. i can understand vieras frustration but he crossed the line too make no mistake about that
The pitch invasion didn't happen instantly. It happened after CL went into the crowd to celebrate, this made a few fans nearby to get closer. The rest of the fans thought now's a great time to jump in. So when you lot talk about pitch is for the players, which I absolutely agree, the stands are for the fans. A player shouldn't be interacting the way Calvert Lewin did. It's the Everton players who instigated whole thing. When addressing the issue, address it properly fellas
Did the Everton "fan" press charges? NO. End of story. What right does the EPL have to punish P.V.The law of the land, surely, includes football pitches also?
If Veira goes into the stands to argue with fans and gets punched by a fan, then everyone would be saying it’s his own fault for going where he shouldn’t in the first place,no different if a fan goes where he shouldn’t and gets hit by a player, manager or staff
Viera shouldn't be fined. The FA should be fined for their failure to provide a safe working environment. And it might be 30 years ago but I still clearly recall Monica Seles getting stabbed mid match and last week a spectator assaulted Chapelle while carrying a knife. We've also seen evidence recently that security protocols are fallible with flares at plenty of games. If a fan is going to break the law by trespassing on the pitch, then get into any player/managers personal space (close enough to assault them) then the FA and clubs should back their staff right to defend themselves and not send a message that protecting yourself is not accepted. Way to tell all the idiots out there they can do what they want and any person they target is expected to do nothing.
I’m an everton fan - and good on patrick I reckon. Thousands of blues ran to celebrate with our players - and as always there’s one total clown causing an issue.
Talksport had someone that was saying CR7 in the same situation was wrong. What does Patrick get a pass with you all? By the way, Patrick should have knocked that guy out.
Big up Pat Viera, he done what any other man would do but the nature of this game and what it means to the evertonians shouldn't be lost in all of this ..I'm not making excuses but I see a lot of comments from people up on their high horse who will never know what it means to these supporters, I can picture these boys in suits on the train to work or in their offices on their morale high ground.. they ridicule them because the only thing they have in life is their football team, which only makes our love for it stronger... this game is sacred
After watching the player get head butted the other day I would of done the same in Patrick's position it's called self defence , yes the fan didn't hit him but imagine what was going through Patrick's mind he was probably shitting it
Natalie Sawyer pretending that she has no idea why people like pitch invasions and that she finds it 'bizzare' is so funny like come off it you know exactly why people like it.
I love pitch invasions. They add so much spirit and ecstasy to the event. For situations like this, the governing bodies need to realize its unique and not punish people like Viera. I really wish he knocked the fan out. That idiot deserved it.
I’m pretty sure there will be legally binding conditions with or even written on the ticket they paid for expressly forbidding going on the field of play, so that eliminates the entitlement for “what they paid for” I wouldn’t ever nor have I run on a professional pitch. It just feels wrong and offensive to all the work that goes into maintaining a pitch, plus I thought it was illegal and an offence. Ban them all, if it were my club I wouldn’t want them ruining it for me or the teams.
Natalie is acting like fans are idiots. The fans are humans, clever and rational human beings. That's why we're blaming them because they should know better and do better but fail to do so. Vieira is also human and should be held in the same regard as the fans. If you're looking at it as it is, 3 or 4 people ganging up on 1 guy who is being goaded and harassed until a handful of people come to help him get out you are arresting the attackers and apologising profusely to the victim and thanking his helpers. Stop trying to make it something it is not.
No viera doesn't/shouldn't be in trouble Everton as a club should be expelled from premier league with point deduction for the pitch invasion for no really apparent reason! They don't deserve to be in premier league after the end of that really good comeback and if premier league doesn't do any of that then shame on them.
