I can honestly say I would've had a heart attack the second I realized who it was. I would've dropped dead on the spot if Simon LeBon came anywhere near me at age!
Simon being the thespian he is, was born for this role! LOL! Not to mention, if that was him riding the horse, he did a pretty darn good job. And yes, I would’ve absolutely died if that had been me. 😁
That is the best surprise ever! What a great guy Simon was back then at the height of his fame (I'm sure he's just as nice now.) I can't imagine someone of equivalent fame today doing that...
Wow! Very cool to see Simon as a Knight! Very lucky girl! How many Duranie fans would want to ride on that horse with Simon? (all of them) Great fun! Wish I lived in England at that time! :)
I would have passed out, screamed or been completely dumbfounded if John Taylor showed up at my school.. but don’t think John couldn’t have handled that horse never mind picked a girl up and carried her outside lol! 😂
I think it has to do with the times. In the 80s, you had to write a real letter to the band and were lucky to get a response. This gal was very lucky. Nowadays, people would pay thousands of dollars for him to do that.
Simply wonderful great idea. Simon's got a great sense of humour love Duran Duran just wondering how much it cost. I would have fainted as I'm a huge fan of their work and there still going in 2020 celebrating 40plus years brilliant.
this is my ultimate dream in life!! loved simon & DD since I was 13 & here I am at 47 still thinking this would have been the all time coolest moment in me life ☆♡☆♡☆
Right!! "Look some fool's on a horse. " Fool keeps talking as chick leads him, and the moment he takes his face covering off I would've been screaming like a crazy bitch, he wouldn't be picking me up, I'd be throwing my ass at him, yelling for him to hurry up n Ride this horse, screaming directions to my bedroom! Lol
ThePoisoned Goth your kidding I remember when is there something I should know, went straight to no one in U.K., we went wild, little work done that afternoon.
They have always been friendly with fans. Back in 1990 Simon actually got in the passengers side of my car at Roy Rodgers in the Woodbridge NJ travel plaza and leaned across the seat and drew a mural of a "mermaid with big knockers". Then a friend came walking up with John Taylor who also got in the passengers seat after asking me to hold his cup of coffee and autographed my dashboard. Was like a dream.
I was an English teacher in the 1980s. I would have been thrilled if Simon or any of Duran Duran had done that for me. Of course, living in the US, it never would've happened.
How in the world did this girl remain so calm?! It would’ve blown my mind to have one of Duran Duran come for me dressed as a knight and get whisked away!! 🤯
If you look closely she was kinda nervously giggling. Now if that was me at that time, they would have to revive me because I would've fainted straight away!
I like how she doesn't put her hand up immediately after he says her name. Its only when he asks a second time. To be fair, it must have been kind of frightening having some large man dressed as knight, sword out, busting through the door demanding her to show herself, added to the fact she couldn't see his face and didn't know who he was.
Her response is kind of odd. She looks embarrassed. Maybe a little shy. At that age (I was 13 when I first heard Duran Duran in America), I would not have been able to contain my excitement about seeing Simon Le Bon in person. Simon dressed as a knight is even better! :)
@@kgallagher8698 YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!! Very discusting, stupid emotion.. waste of time while filming this and (analog) rolls of negative film. 😭🤣😭🤣
I became pen pals with the two girls (Sarah and Katie) after their appearance on Jim'll Fix It. Duran were no longer their favourite artists and more fans of Paul Young. I was absolutely gutted, as I'd never have stopped being a fan if I'd met Simon and Co then.
I notice references to what show this was on have been removed. Great viewing but I am so glad Jim never fixed it for me to have any of my wishes come true!
Been searching for this clip for ages. I assumed it was pulled because it was on Jim’s fix it.I remember us all taking about it the next day at school we were about the same age as that girl. Guessing 1979?
drayton secondary school in Banbury, oxfordshire, I was there at school that day, it was snowing and i remember they struggled to get the car out the grounds with so many kids in the way. girls cooing and boys throwing snow balls at the car.
Okay now if I was 12 years old I probably would have passed out... I've been a fan of Duran Duran for about 40 years so Simon feel free to pick me up anytime!! WAXX TRAXX TO THE MAXX on wusb FM NY. When you're not kidnapping people on horseback I would love to talk to you for my radio show
