Got to start in ‘77 in school. Been throwing regularly since 2020. My son & I have opened a public teaching studio. I don’t have as much time to watch videos but my goodness! After sitting with students for just over a year, it’s so nice sitting down and watching one of your videos again! You’re number one on my list of RU-vid potters to recommend. 👍🏼

As I get a little more throwing experience, these old videos become much more meaningful. Many of the details used to slip right past me. I had a false sense of how throwing worked. Didn't have a wheel, just watched others do it.

Thanks. Simon, for the tip where you showed how to smooth a rim on a taller pot with the space between the index and middle finger. I appreciate your teaching. And by the way...Gesundheit :D

My potter friend and i would love to know what clay you use generally (no grog) it looks lIke a smooth iron based clay on you tube.? I currently use Lagoona's PB 103 but s cracking is a problem with plates and widwee based pots. Could you please sugest a goog all rounder from anywhere as its always shipped into Austrzlis. So silly that our own clay mines are bought up by other countries then we have to buy it back from them!! That life , cheers Simon.

Lisa Greer - h! the clay I use is one from Standard ceramic supply and its number is 306 in their catalogue.Does have some grog actually reasonably fine but some none the less. This clay I also use for doing raku without any problems. Wow seems a funny thing to have to import clay from the other side of the world ! Their must be local clays that could be dug surely ? Yes would be good to go to your neck of the woods one day and teach some workshops, need someone to organize it ! :)
