a masterclass in escort riving long before everyone else caught up and paid for a millington motor . his control is unreal his bravery unmatched rest in piece simon you were the best
Love this ... Raw power, Talent, Skill, and yet he makes look so graceful. Previously an Owner (luckily) both MK1 & 2 Escorts - so kinda brings back some happy memories.
Best mk2 escort rallydriver I have ever seen, this guy would kick S Lobes ass! He has a perfect ballance between sideways action and raw speed. Best rallydriver of all time???
This is the best ever, makes the hairs on the back of my neck bristle. What a machine, what a driver! I'd love to come and watch this hillclimb. Love to see him at Barbon!
It this bloke still out there ? Just so impressive , may be there were quicker, but it's that if it's the right way up my foots on the gas . Just so impressive .
You have to drive a mk2 escort sideways to get the best speed out of it. He is setting the car up for the next corner using a technique called the scandenavian flick. Also with hillclimbing the driver is not concerned about tire wear as they will be changed between stages. I will say it one more time, he has the perfect ballance between sideways action and speed, his driving is pure perfection. Enough said.
another 20 -30 hp would make this car perfect at the moment when hes flooring it , the car doesn't power over steer, just a tiny bit more power would be perfect, escorts are awesome cars, even today they still push newer fords around
he can drive.. that road is savage, mkII wit even dat power on that road driving "tidy" ie slow in fast out is pointless, cambers on that first hairpin are savage, flat drift sideways only way.... RESPECT..as a spectator not a highly skilled driver like alot on here!!
@TheTitrash That may be true on a nice flat race circuit, but it seems you have little experience of rallying! How do you think all the works Escort drivers manage to win events when they had their Escorts sideways at every corner?
He is not racing, he is hillclimbing! Driving a car sideways like that, flat to the floor with trees, stone, walls and ditches all around you takes big balls. Vatenan was far more "ragged" on tarmac, he either won or lost rallies, I never seen or heard of Simon crashing. S Loeb would sh1t a brick in that car lol.
