Yes - I have seen this. My comment to Alastair was simply "STUNNING". I can't believe he spent so much time making a totally improvised drum solo into such a musical piece and the fact he really understood what I was "trying" to do rhythmically and compositionally. Truly amazing!!!
Ou yes, i‘ve enjoyed this masterpiece, this incredible work, EVERY second of it!!! Oh, and no, NO intro skipping here! Alone the Intro ist worth to hear it! ☝🏻
Long-time SiPhi fan here. This can‘t be emphasized enough: You created a masterpiece that is nothing short of the genius to be found in Simon‘s solo. Hats off, again and again!
When you think you've seen almost everything on RU-vid, and then you discover this... My deepest respect, awesome Job! I want more of this! Simon himself should see this!
😲 Wow, what a masterpiece! It's incredible how well Simon interpreted your master suite on the drums. He really accompanied every little part of your suite so musically perfect! 😉😆 Seriously now: Alastair, a biggest and massive respect and appreciation for this masterpiece, it's incredible what you've created! I have no words...., every little detail is breathtaking and beautifully created! All the tiny and big things in it, simply amazing! I enjoy every second of this incredible suite, from the overture (here i have sometimes a picture of LOTR in my head 😄) to the end. What a great, great, unique work! I must have listened to it 20 times or more and discover new things every time I listen to it, unbelievable! The funny thing is, I can't listen to Simon's solo anymore without hearing your outstanding version of this music! 😄 I never thought I would say that: But it would be great to hear this great work without drums 😆, I would even pay for it! The only shame is that it doesn't have more than just a little over 4000 views, how can that be? I can't understand it... Alastair, thank you so much for this wonderful 18:19 minutes of pure enjoyment, I haven't heard anything good and beautiful like this one in years! Massive respect and appreciation for your brilliant, great work, you are a REAL musician, a great composer and arranger! Hats off and greetings from Germany
What a compliment! You've made my day, thanks so much for that lovely comment. And especially glad you like the overture, that's very good to hear. Best wishes. :)
@@AlastairTaylor77 HA! ☝🏻 And today I found out that a guiro (or something like that...) can be heard exactly at the point where Simon has switched on his snarewires 7:24 😂. So great! 👍🏻 Didn’t I told you: I discover something new every time I hear it! Your creativity is mindblowing!
Amazing! Simon's finest playing and your orchestration is perfect! Thanks for the free plugin tips. Good orchestral sounds seemed impossible without spending hundreds of dollars!
Speechless... this is really something else. You wrote an entire (brilliant) book over his - also brilliant! - short story. How interesting is the fact that the original drum solo "steers" one's writing into such different "territories"?
Thank you very much. Yes, I find writing in this way really opens me up to me up to new sounds and styles that I would have never thought of on my own.
Totally blown away by this. Well Simon’s drumming is 10/10 as expected, but such a beautiful, masterpiece composition to elevate it. Bravo❤❤❤! Please release this on Spotify/Tidal
One of the most incredible thing I ever seen (and listened) in my entire life. This one should be bring in every music school all around the word!! All my respect for this one; thank you. Ps: someone should take this track, with music, drum and everything, and create a cartoon movie as the new "Fantasia 2024"!
Haha, I love that idea! I'm so happy this one has had such a positive response as it's a little different from my usual stuff. Thank you for the kind words.
Absolutely stunning. I'm betting that is exactly what he was thinking as he composed the drum solo on the spot. His solos are never planned. Absolutely brilliant.
Just wow, fantastic! Love Phillips drumming, has always had a beautiful sounding kit and his finger style does bring out more snap on the drums. Your composition to his solo is truly amazing, not just the arrangement but getting those free orchestral sampled instruments to sing like a real orchestra.
@@AlastairTaylor77 how nice to hear! Simon is a pure gentleman, and one h**l of a drummer! ❤️ I tried to pay attention to what you did to make this, but I fell of quite fast 😂🤪 haha. Anyway, you have done a marvellous effort here with this! No doubt about that!
That is absolutely astonishing. The original drum solo video is one of the best things on RU-vid; you have just taken it to another level. Congratulations....
Wow Alastair! I've been a fan of Simon for about 45 years and I love what you did with this drum solo. I was apprehensive at fist, fearing what "damage" someone might do by trying to add to a Simon solo but I should not have worried. Your composition is both sensitive to the journey Simon takes us on and adds to it beautifully. Bravo!
Absolutely crushed it again brother. I love the use of auxillary percussion and woodwind to highlight his little motifs. You really nailed matching the intensity. My absolute favorite part is 16:49 You continue to impress me with you skills and creativity. Never would've known you'd never written a full orchestral arrangement before if you hadn't said it. Cheers
This sounds like you extracted it out of Simon’s brain. As if his mind was playing all of this and he was complimenting it through the expression of drums. Amazing! - Now we need one of DENNIS. 🔥
This is the best music i have listened to in the last months. Simon is a genius and you deliver this performance along with such a creative composition. Many thanks, Alastair. Excellent. Cheers! 🥂💪🏼
Hey man. Wish you all success. Been following you for about as long as you’ve been putting videos out. your work is truly original and it is an honor for any drummer to have their solos turned into perfectly matched compositions. Anyway. If you would check out Morgan Agren’s work you might find some great new ideas. Best place to start would be his RU-vid channel.
@@AlastairTaylor77 dedication of the highest degree. Keep em coming boss - it's one of those YT notifications where life stops until I've watched it at least 3 times in a row.
Excuse-me, Alastair! How old are you? When did you start learning music? Congratulations one more time...You've raised the bar in this one..... Hope see you on Beato's chanel.
To Alistair Taylor - Wonderful.Did any of these drummers that you put music to,ever see them and reply to you,cos I really think Gadd ,Simon etc would love to hear these
@@mattbayne2012 Yeah some of them. Sometimes it's quite hard to get a reply from some of their agents/managers etc...Gadds people never reply to me, I'm gonna email them again though and keep persevering. Simon did get back to me, he really liked it he was impressed. And Jojo Mayer got back to me about my latest one with a really nice email. Some off the others from previous ones have also Matt Garstka, Robert 'Sput' Searight, Benny Greb. Gergo Borlai still watches all my videos I put out ever since I did one of his which is cool. Just need one of them to actually share to their Instagrams or something to get more views.
More than I care to mention haha. Honestly I'm not sure but the whole project took about 3 months from start to finish, the first few weeks of which was just me listening over and over every day whenever I can. And making a click track and a rough structure outline before recording.
