Just because Meldonium was legal before 2016 doesn't mean it was legal to take it, she still took the prescription drug for a non existent or no longer existent medical condition,that's illegal in its own right. And while it was legal for tennis before 2016, it wasn't for other sports, so they punished her accordingly and justly.
It was hard for me to watch this match because I love Maria Sharapova, but I also like Simona Halep... I guess I wanted Maria to win, but Simona winning was ok... Maria Sharapova is still my queen...

The final this year can be between Maria and Halep if both are on the different sides of the draw. And if that happens Maria will win for sure. Halep isn't grandslam quality.

Excellent match from both players. I really want to like Simona as a player, but for some reason her style just doesn’t do it for me. Her topspin and consistency are great, but she just lacks a killer shot. Backhand, great, but not a killer. She is basically an updated version of Sanchez Vicario. Plays like Rafa without the power. I’m bored by her game, yet still I like her and want her to win 🤷🏻♂️. She works incredibly hard, is talented, and deserves a slam.

@@comunidadaerea2400 SW is a bad grunter, but at least her grunts aren't as often nor are as loud. SW's loud grunts on average are 108 decibels. Sharapovas are 127 decibels,which is "Hearing loss" range
Poor Maria. The drug she had been taking for ten years would have allowed her to keep her momentum in the second and any further set. I think they should let her carry on taking it.
@ mka Good point, but if you've been following her for a while you'll see she's making progress in many areas. I think once she's got her main tools sharp and reliable (which depends a lot on psychology) she'll improve the variety too.
@ Andrey, I find it hard to judge (her coach's performance). What makes you say that? I'm genuinely curious. If anything it seems she's improving in consistency and confidence, without which it's probably slow to make big progress in style.
