I had to rewatch the first pass at half of the speed because it was unbelievable. It was the first time she competed it so she has time to be perfect later, but for now: WOW.

a triple double is a J periodt. i mean cmon the moors is almost a walk in the park for her and some girls but this, triple double, is a phenomenal debut, even simone can't perfect the skill, yet.

GO SIMONE! This just shows how tough she is, getting up and continueing to slay her routine after a stumble with a smile on her face. Even with the fall I am still so impressed that she had the guts, determination and strength to attempt a triple double in competition, and I am sure she will land it in future meets as we all know she is capable. Keep up the amazing work Simone! You truly are a queen 👑

Yes she fell but she's only human and she might still come out on top there's nothing to worry about. my biggest issue is the fact that usag only gave the triple double a I rating when it's much more difficult than the moors. Hopefully her gorgean was just downgraded

I mean the Moors is WAY harder than the Chuso and it's one twist extra. The same with the Biles and the Silivas. One twist extra, only 0.1 in start value

Like with any new skill she debuts, got to harness that excess power. Looks good otherwise and she'll no doubt fix that for Sunday. 14.3 is still impressive; a hit routine should be mid 15's.

There have been more than two - It's named after Ri Jong Song and has also been performed by Kohei and Kenzo. If we're including smaller competitions, Eddie Penev has done it too and I'm probably forgetting another person lol

Questions to the experts here: is the first pass a fall because she put her hands onto the floor? Is that then a 1.0 deduction?

Yes, because she needed to support herself on the landing by putting down her arms, that counts as a fall (so a minimum 1.0 point deduction). The judges could also take away for steps and the bounce on top of the fall

Gareth M Actually if a gymnasts falls on a skill, the maximum landing deduction no matter steps/hops is 1.0. And there’s a maximum of 0.8 if no fall occurs.

I know she is challenging herself but she didnt need to upgrade anthing from rio , she hasnt done a consistent set since rio , and im also worried about injuries , low landings on bars and floor, her landings arent as clean

Yes she later said in an interview that she was upset. She knows that she is better than anybody else and that's why she wants to earn the gold. She also officially apologized after her falls in 2018 worlds because she felt like she could have done better.

And seeing how Day 1 turned out, she prolly still would do it, because she still led on floor and AA with a fall 😂 Anyways, I hope both new elements she performed today will be named after her come Worlds.

Awful, as usual. Yes she can tumble.....But this is supposed to be an ARTISTIC gymnastics routine, not a tumbling contest. Never any dance or choreo.
