Simone Biles is the first woman in history to land a triple double on her floor routine at the 2019 U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Kansas City, Mo. part of the Team USA Champions Series presented by Xfinity.
Okay... she's great and all, and I am NOT trying to undermine her success in any way shape or form, but is it really that surprising that she's able to do a triple-double? Most people here are just those who's knowledge of gymnastics is capped at "sImOnE bILeS iS tHe bEsT gYmNaSt, tRiPLe dOuBlE wOw", but those who know anything about gymnastics know that this skill is not surprising at all. Daniela Silivas did the Double Double in the 80's... literally 3 decades ago. Why are people so shocked that after almost 30 years, an extra twist was added?
@@900bz Yeah, you obviously didn't read what I said/don't know a thing about gymnastics lmao. She did this 30 years after a double twisting double tuck was performed, a LOT of people have performed the triple double before her- its not shocking or game changing that she can do this.
@@900bz Mate don't need to get angry lmao I'm literally just saying facts. The only people liking your comments are diehard American patriots who know nothing about gymnastics like you lool.
@@LIONESSOFZION dont just assume that. Every video gets thumbs down, even if it's a video of a little girl overcoming cancer. It could be the announcer, it could be that didn't show her score, or kids who accidentally hit the button.

That triple twisting double back tumbling pass is one of the most insane skills that I have ever seen in my entire life. 😱😱😱 Simone is a queen she's freaking amazing! And the greatest gymnast of all time. No other woman will ever match her records. Simone Biles is a once in a lifetime gymnast.
That's me too. It's definitely something to watch. What I love is that she's raising the bar and changing the game one routine at a time. I call it the #BlackGirlMagic. #BlackMagic

This woman is a freak of nature in the best way possible. Absolutely incredible, just as Nastia said. Can't get over how that horrid system and this monster ruined her though. I hope she'll be able to leave that behind. All the best to you, Simone! You are the Queen of gymnastics. Maybe I'll live fifty more years or so but I don't think I'll witness someone surpassing her. That is for generations far ahead to see, I guess.
Everyone says comming second to Simone is basically a gold medal. I bet Russia and China are screaming inside watching this. Another Olympics without a gold at teams and all around.
This is why I was thinking, is a gold medal really a gold medal? I mean think about it. If you win gold against Simone it's more like winning platin/diamond. If you won gold before Simone it is like silver today.
Love how Simone even makes the dance elements, floor roll prerequisite and front facing skill fit so nicely with the super technical aspects of her routine, and all of it flows so well without slowing the momentum at all!
@@kareberntsen7834 Sexual Abuse of so many (underage) gymnasts that happened for so many years under the watchful eyes of the U.S. Gymnastics Federation but they looked the other way.
You make it seem like now its US Gymasntics turn to the triple double. They've already made changes and are working diligently to make sure these athletes are protected. Now its your turn.
I read a mathematician's breakdown of her flight, a while back, at the apex of some of her passes, she is flying upside down more than twice her body height above the ground.
@@jglobetrotter2830 That's amazing. Truly defies aeronautics. Just as amazing is: At her peak height in the air on her floor routine, Simone, jumping 10 feet high, is 2 feet HIGHER than the WORLD HIGH JUMP RECORD. Good Lord!
Simone Biles is the most incredible women’s gymnast in the history of the sport. And she seems like a genuinely nice young woman. Her moves defy gravity!
She makes it look like everyone should be able to do it - "...Don't need the car this time. Think I'll just do some tripple doubles down to 7/11 - Be back in a few minutes..."
@@nede7110 There's four apparati, so my really sloppy math comes out that what we're currently doing at a 2-day event would take a week instead. They actually just don't have time for each to happen one at a time (and there's different judges for each apparatus, too, so they're not judging multiple gymnasts at one. I think there's probably some difference in skillset between judging beam and judging bars? Not enough that someone would be totally able to judge one and not judge the other at all, but looking for things like connections and balance checks on beam where they're very important, and being able to see wtf is happening in vault where everyone's flipping at turbo speed is probably a skill you have to take time to develop. Would love to hear from anyone in the comments who's ever judged gymnastics)
@@halamadrid19791 it's a triple double because she does a *double* flip with a *triple* twist. She's well known for double doubles (2 twist 2 flip) but this was a massive step up
Anyone who gives a thumbs down to this amazing athlete can't be pleased. They claim she's boring. I say she is a Natuonal Treasure and a very dedicated, humble woman.
Simone Biles thank you, for all the incredible moments you have shown us. I am very proud of you. It's about time for all women to learn how to stand up for themselves. Get well!
Hear, hear! She stood up for herself and did what Elena Mukhina was not able to do, namely draw a line in the sand and say no, I'm not willing to literally kill myself for your entertainment. As any gymnast knows, 'the twisties' is a VERY dangerous thing to happen to a gymnast, and to keep going is tantamount to suicide. Biles has literally more gold medals than any other gymnast on earth, and she doesn't owe anyone a goddamn thing.
@@fahadabdulraheem1407 Simone Biles, I'm guessing. She is the greatest of all time. That said?? Superman moves don't always equal quality. As far as creativeness... this is the bomb.
I now believe that there are super people on this planet! Even after that wonderous performance she still has bounce in her step. An amazing athlete. Take care.
I’ve never really watched gymnastics before and for some reason, a Simone Biles routine showed up on my suggestions and now I am hooked! This girl is fantastic!! 💪
Simone is like the perfect storm. The right height, weight, muscle mass, power, drive and pure talent. She is unstoppable. The rest of the competition should just phone their performances in cause they are all fighting for 2nd and 3rd. You go, Simone.
@@sarahberry6434 You are certainly entitled to your own opinion. I don't agree and I think the really telling factor is that the rest of the world agrees with me.
Ms. Biles is and always be a competitor in the sport gymnastics. We give her a big thanks for her off the mat contribution to our youth programs. Hope Ms. Biles has a amazing finish with gymnastics and all of the special thanks goes out to Ms. Biles winning metals for the USA. 👏
I have not seen a single negative comment and honestly an Olympic gold medalist who continues to dominate deserves nothing but praise. Good job everyone!
Hi, welcome to the Internet. Here's something you'll learn as you spend more time here: If you don't see a single negative comment it's because they're deleting all of the negative comments.
Dee Jay I've had various negative comments deleted. Not on this video but on other videos. They're not actually deleted, most the time they are "hidden:" the commenter can see his or her comment, but no one else can. I confirmed this by having a friend check if he could see a comment I wrote on a YT news video a year back. I could see it. He could not. But Jonathan Ferguson's point stands.
NostalgicNancy I have trouble walking up the stairs now 🤣 let alone flip & twist like Simone does!!! love to watch her, she’s calm, cool, collected & is so refreshing to see the love she has for the sport
You should go see a gymnastics competition in your area - they happen mostly in late fall through late spring. Most meets have websites - you can find them pretty easily. Most of the kids you see competing at these meets will never make it to regionals, let alone to nationals, or the Olympics, or Worlds, or whatever. They're grade school, middle school, and high school kids like any other. What sets them apart is that they spend three, four, or five nights a week, year round, training so that for five minutes every few weeks during the winter they can perform in front of, mostly, the parents of other gymnasts. And they do it because they want to. And when they have to give it up, either due to injury or just aging out of the sport, they cry. Even the toughest of them cry. So go out and see them while they're there. Applaud for them, good or bad. They won't know that you, personally, were there - but they'll know that someone was.
@@OffTopicKamah I'm the father of three gymnasts, all retired now. I can't honestly say I miss the travel - I have driven to Erie PA in a blizzard multiple times, which I do believe exempts me from any time in purgatory. :-) But we do have some great memories - like daughters winning state, qualifying for regionals - and our middle daughter's level 7 beam dismount was...well, good memories.
Jarvis Family that’s great to hear a good father.. I’m still in my 20s but I love watching and cheering on my younger brothers in activities their interested in like swimming and basketball.. I think sports build character and prepare them for the competitiveness of the real world
It’s nice to see how she can Lang these all so perfectly cause I remember at the beginning of her career she has soooo much power behind her moves that she would stumble with her landings but now she’s just PERFECT I love her
Seriously - who are the idiots out there who gave this a thumbs down??!!! Please do explain why, as this lady is nothing short of incredible - congratulations Simone - it was amazing and a privilege to watch 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
It's possible people thumbs down just to keep control of their algorithm on RU-vid, like what kind of videos they wanna see pop up for them in the future. Idk if it works like that but that's my guess, I hope no one genuinely dislikes her performance cause she's amazing.
@@zees2449 Honestly I’ve had videos thumbed down on my first watch. It’s common and probably wouldn’t account for all the dislikes but it’s definitely a thing.
I don't think I've ever seen any gymnast perform like this! This Was Literally, A-Jaw-Dropping-Performance! So Beautiful, Stunning & Elegant all at once! I didn't close my mouth once watching this clip, a matter of fact I don't think I even took a breath! Captivating young lady, I could watch her all day long! WOW!

@@leanderhartley4987 Probably because it took so long. Elena Mukhina did the full twisting double in the late 70s, and then 10ish years later Silivas did the double double, and then it took more than 3 decades to add another twist to it. Gymnastics difficulty evolved a LOT from the 70s to the 80s, and even the 80s to 90s, but since then progress has been there, but slower.
@@mcwyman7928 Wait I'm confused.. so you're trying to say that people are raving about her doing this skill, because it should have been done before and it was performed extremely late? Again, the point of it not being anything surprising still stands though.

I've been amazed by gymnastics since I was a little kid & even wanted to get into it but never did. Just dabbled in it here & there. But I'll never know how this kinda stuffs humanly possible, it's insane 🤯🤯🤯
Thats one of the greatest feats I have ever seen a human do athletically. I am in wow factor 100 right now. True talent is amazing always. What a blessing to her family they must be proud.
And yet there are still so many people that don't understand why she couldn't perform when she couldn't tell which way was up during the Olympics. How can anyone look at this and not understand instantly?
No matter how much you slow it down that triple double is still extremely fast and she manages to do so much in a routine that lasts less than two minutes. Just incredible 😁❤

She has said this next Olympics is her last. She's going to retire. I mean, there's nothing left for her to accomplish, really. Time to enjoy being young!
