I had no issues with outdoor cameras. One minor annoyance is that when you name a device from the keypad and select "Done/OK", it goes back to asking you to name the device again. You have to actually exit from the device setup, which seems a bit counterintuitive.

Just build up a spacer on your door so the sensors contact if the door is inset

This video indicated that the system could be armed AND dis-armed with an Alexa voice command. Was that a mis-statement? I'd previously read that SimpliSafe could only be armed this way BUT it would still require a code (or keyfob) to disable. (Otherwise any intruder could shout out "Alexa Turn OFF The Alarm".)

You are right, Alexa can arm the system at any time on Home or Away mode, BUT, to be able to disarm the system it would be with the app, keypad or keyfob, there is no more options in order to avoid any leaks on the security system.

That's right. She's wrong. You can only arm the system with voice, not disarm it.

Gripe number two. Right out of the box the motion sensor would not pair with my base station. WTF
@thomasomeara4705
@thomasomeara4705 9 месяцев назад
When it comes to pairing the base station with my wireless router I had to enter the password. This password has numbers, lower case and upper case letters. And, wait for it... the symbol %. I was able to find it, but it was not the least bit intuitive. One starts by pressing the 1 key and keep pressing until you get to %. You have to be QUICK, because it rapidly moves onto the next character. AND it is VERY hard to discern when it is flashing by in a mere second. Not so good.

Did you call Simplisafe to troubleshoot the outdoor camera glitch? I had one of the 5 brand new outdoor cameras I just bought and set up do a similar loop. It kept going back to that until they explained the reset button on the camera which is NOT the "setup" button. Problem solved. All 5 outdoor cams and 4 indoor cams are flawless. Love the wireless cams!

My back door is the same as yours. Sits deeply in the frame.

Have you figured any solution for sensors? We've seen recessed sensors that require drilling, but that's the only thing that comes to mind

I though about adding a block of wood to the door to make that part of the sensor even with the frame.

Easy DIY fix. After about 10 years, I just upgraded our Simplisafe Gen 2 to the newest Gen 3 when we move to our new residence a few weeks ago. My garage access door is the same as you guys speak of. I just took a 6" piece of nice 1" wide by ⅛" thick aluminum flat bar and bent to 90° bends in both ends to make an "S" of sorts. One end taped or screwed to the door, the other is bent so it's flush with the wall or frame to stick the magnetic sensor on. Stick the sensor body to the wall. Done.

Don’t go for Simplisafe. Do more research. They had problematic equipments, sensors, connectivity. I gave them a chance so I was beyond 60 days when I cancelled. But in between that I had to keep returning and replacing their cameras and other equipments and they don’t want to refund me. They’re a bad company.

It’s your fault not SimpliSafe lol.

Once again you FAILED to mention the monthly prices for these "glitches" and that you need to to have the "full service" plan to do these things with the "false" alarms you had. After MUCH research of this system it was not the way to go for me for features and prices. To me this system FALLS way short to other "systems" out there being DIY for price vs features and failures...

Interactive plan is now $27mos. Non-interactive is $15'ish or for free, rely on neighbors to call the PoPo when your alarm is activated and wailing. We'll over a decade using the system and Interactive Service has been flawless for us. After the first couple weeks of getting accustomed to the system, we've not had any false alarms.

So which systems do you suggest?
@johnszatkowski6898
@johnszatkowski6898 Год назад
@@robertrose3068 I can only recommend Ring or SimpliSafe unless you just want to waste money on monthly fees that offer NO more protection than what these two above offer! Vivant is great but comes with a HUGE monthly cost and requires custom installation by a tech guy at ADDED fees and in the end does the exact same thing! Had ADT and they are JUNK plus the 3yr contract that if you break costs you BIG-TIME! AVOID contracts at all costs! Do your homework - it's not that hard and look at the monthly fees for each setup. Some systems charge you up the ass for added cameras pushing over $60 a month which is just ridiculous! I have a Ring Pro setup for $200 a year! DO THE MATH vs. $60+ a month. I have 24/7 monitoring, smoke/CO2, flood/freeze, motion detection and 5 cameras with a Ring doorbell, and as many door/window sensors you can ever want at $200 a year with ONE button access to police and fire with backup cellular internet with the PRO setup - what more do you need?

@@johnszatkowski6898 The biggest issue I'm finding is it takes 8-10 seconds to access live view on Blink. Nooro is a couple seconds quicker, but audio isn't as good. My wifi is plenty fast enough. 3 piece Orbi mesh with 5 Ghz backhaul gets me 860-900 Mbps from a 1 gig connection. I've read mixed opinions on using solar on them. Some say it will lower the delay since it doesn't need to conserve battery life, as the batteries are removed. Worst case I suppose I could buy a solar setup and test it. If it doesn't help, send it back. 👍
@johnszatkowski6898
@johnszatkowski6898 Год назад
@@robertrose3068 I do not think a solar option will solve the connection time. Blink are built for batteries and to conserve power which a hardware issues.
