Finally found a video that actually walked through the setup rather than talking about it👏🏻 I’m a visual learner so I really appreciate it. I received my ala carte SimpliSafe system a couple days ago but have been procrastinating due to the many negative customer service reviews on some websites. But I may not have to deal with that if it goes well. And your video gives me the confidence I need to get it done. Also I realized I needed more sensors and found them on Amazon for $6 more than SS sells each sensor for but because I wanted to setup right away I paid the premium to have them the next day. Just mentioned that for anyone who may be interested. Thanks to you, Nater Tater, I think I can do this🎉

Also don’t forget most counties require you to register your alarm. I have the same system and I like it a lot. The siren on the base unit is pretty weak but I got the external siren and that thing is freaking loud!!! so the base station siren is downstairs and the external siren is upstairs facing the front door so it covers the whole house. Can you come to the front door and nothing just blast you in the face is super loud and I love it
@simplisafesecurityandcameras
The system itself does not require wifi as it has its own buit in cell chip inside but if you want to do regular firmware updates that they send out then it needs to be on wifi plus if you have it on wifi it will use it as primary signal and if it goes out it will automatically hook up to cell chip. All cameras have to be hooked up to wifi. I have had them for years and have over 30 sensors, 3 keypads and 4 indoor camera and 5 outdoor cameras, I love them

i think the motion sensor activates about 15-30 seconds after the system is armed in away

I just purchased a Simplisafe system. I have had nothing but troubles, I have a large house with a basement which is the vulnerable part of my house my system cannot find any of the basement sensors. I also bought 3 wireless cameras which have been my biggest problem. My home wireless system will not connect to any of the cameras. I tried my old 2.4ghz Netgear wireless unit with no success even with the cameras just a few inches away from my wireless modems. I even separated the bands of my wireless modem giving the 2.4ghz output a different password but nothing has worked my cameras are basically expensive paperweights. I have never had any problems connecting a wireless device of any type in the past even the base station connected without problems but the cameras are frustrating. My computers are all hardwired to my network, I use the wireless network only for laptops and my iPad as well as my cell phones without problem.

I really liked the first gen Simplisafe because it was one of the few "subscription free" home security systems. Now I feel like there are none left. I wish T-Mobile would offer a similar deal since I love my T-Mobile internet connection. Also, have you tried a Unifi system plugged into your Verizon or T-Mobile home internet? I work in construction and our IT guy has officially switched all of our jobsites to a Unifi mesh system using the Verizon internet as its host, it's cool because it makes the connection go much farther but complicated to get setup and I overall think it slows down the connection because of the mesh output but who knows, maybe that's just me.

Hello sir For the simplisafe motion sensors to work do you need to have wireless internet wifi router service? I do not have wireless wifi router ie. Verizon in my mobile home
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 4 месяца назад
The motion sensors will work locally with the home base directly. But the system needs some type of internet access to fully work and do things like notify your phone. You don't have to have backup cellular internet if you don't want that failsafe.

Hey Nate, I have the T-Mobile Sagemcom gateway (in trial period) and just ordered a SimpliSafe system. 1. Will the SimpliSafe cameras work fine on the Sagemcom? (I know some cameras don't work on some internet providers' systems.) 2. Does the Sagemcom allow 2.4 Ghz devices (e.g., security cameras) and 5 Ghz devices to receive WiFi simultaneously? (With your help, I was able to determine that my tower uses B2 and n41 bands.) Many thanks for your very helpful videos. I'm a "liker" of all and a subscriber.
@NaterTater
@NaterTater Год назад
Hey Greg. 1) yes. 2) yes and know that 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi is NOT related to "5G" Home internet.

@@NaterTater Thanks for the quick answers! I admit I do sometimes confuse the WiFi frequency with the generation of cellular if I'm not thinking, especially when I'm really simply thinking of potential fast speeds that both 5Ghz and 5G imply. We're moving to a new house in an area that only has one internet option (cable) according to neighbors there, so I appear the be the only one ever trying to use T-mobile there. (I'm probably the first since T-Mobile says their home internet is not available there, but I got one store to let me try it anyway -- I get 100-220 Mbps download speeds on most early tests, so I will probably keep it.) This venture is causing me to school myself on all kinds of cellular and WiFi tech and lingo that I haven't had to know previously. Your videos are a great help to me in this regard. I'm sure I will be asking more naive questions!

Nate, Am I able to install and setup the SimpliSafe alarm system using my Verizon cellular network before I move into my new location then add it to my home network wifi once moved in ? Thanks!
@NaterTater
@NaterTater Год назад
Yes. It'll be easiest if your verizon wifi name and permanent location wifi name (and password) are the same. Then it should transfer without any setup.

@@NaterTater Thank you. I am also considering using a GL.iNet GL-SFT1200 (Opal) Secure Travel WiFi Router. I should be able to connect it to my Optimum Online wifi account.

Ive really never understood these systems and why they dont provide you with more door and window sensors. Does everyone only have 1 door, 1 window or 2 doors no window combination in their homes? Same reason why ADT isn't a great deal either.

My simplisafe outdoor cameras won't connect to Tmobile home internet. I have talked to t-mobile technical support and I have not had cameras for 1month. I tried connecting my simplisafe cameras to Spectrum internet and they connected just fine. Please help.

Try separating the 2.4 and 5Ghz wifi bands in the app. See this video for info ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7NJ7TJ_1VZk.html

yes, the keypad has one and remotes have them as well as you can buy a stand alone panic button to place anywhere. You can configure it to be a silent alarm, fire, medical, etc.

@@NaterTater Better than traditional systems like ADT, Vivint, ,,,?

@J N that's very subjective and will depend on your requirements and preferences. I'll say its not bad/junk.
