Namaste
This is simple method for guiding a drill bit while drilling 90 degrees or a right angle to a surface. I have been using inexpensive metal fixing brackets as a guide for some time and thought it might be useful to share. I also recently designed a simple drill bit guide for making using a 3D printer. The 3D printed component works really well and seems to be holding up to the job, but I decided to fix the metal brackets to the 3D printed component to create a more stable and durable drill bit guide. I used 2 part epoxy to fix the parts together. The 3D printed part could easily be replaced with wood or a similar material to form a handle for the brackets.
If you are interested in the 3D printed guide, it can be found on Thingiverse Here: tinyurl.com/ya...
I like the idea of DIY and making my own Tools, especially if it is a Tool that is not easily found or readily available. Handmade Tools give great satisfaction and for me it is fun knowing that I created something to help me better improve my woodworking experience.

Hi Chris, As someone who always has difficulty in getting anything straight (should have seen my ploughing years ago ...just like the proverbial donkeys hind leg😁) using a steel bracket is a simple way to make sure of a nice straight hole . I would love to get one of those 3d printers ...I could watch it making stuff all day lol . Namaste dear friend and love to you all from us both here, Bram

Namaste Bram 😊 The 3d printer is fantastic mate. I've made loads of tools and jigs so far and best of all fixing broken parts for Ollie's toys and stuff. I love it 😁 Love to you and Les from us all 😊 ॐ

This is a great idea Chris! If I had a 3d printer I would be downloading it as I type this up. But since I don't I will just use the metal bracket idea! lol

Thank you Grant 😊 The bracket works great 😊 The little handle is just a nice addition. The printer has become a major tool for me 😊 I thought I'd shed most addictions until I bought it 😂 ॐ

1st. Hi Yogi, Brilliant little jig. Thanks for the idea. I will be making one of those out of wood as I don't have a 3D Printer. Take care. Cheers, Huw

Thank you Huw 😊 I've only had the printer a couple of months and I can't think of day it hasn't been working. It's been brilliant for me and helped to solve a lot of stuck projects 😊 ॐ

Thank you Dirk 😊 I've just jumped in to the January clock challenge, then i had a look at DownUnder Woodworks challenge and nearly fell off the chair mate 😂 There's a Grey sky and a foot of snow outside and I'll be up to my waist in it before long. The idea of a making a Summer thing was far from my mind, but maybe my warped sense of humour might be up for it. I can't promise 😊 Blessing, love and peace to you all there ॐ
