Very cool! I am trying something similar now with birch plywood, but it is challenging because of the lack of thickness :/

The reason why the cable sheathing doesn't matter on the controller but does on the input to the LED driver is that the cable between the plug and the LED driver is at mains voltage, but the cable between the LED driver and controller is only low voltage at 12V. Personally, I'd always be a bit of a snob about LED driver manufacturers and go for a Mean Well power supply such as the Mean Well LPF-60-12 - I don't trust the cheap ones to be reliable.

What method would you use to fit these shelves to an alcove or wall without a top carcass TIA.
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop Месяц назад
I'd use floating shelf pins if you are going for the Floating shelf look 👍 You can buy them from amazon or ebay (there may be a link in the description somewhere. Just make sure your rebate for the lighting is far enough away so the pins don't come through it 👍

Hi, re t-track. The side of my bench is 18mm MDF (no framing). If I router a 1/2” channel (12mm) to drop the track in, do you think the 6mm that remains will be strong enough? Great vids
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop 5 месяцев назад
Hi, I wouldn't imagine it would tbh and you need to screw the channels in with not enough meat behind. Unless you can add something behind to beef it up, then I'd say no 😬

So looking at doing this without the remote section. Want 7 seperate 1metre runs. Is it correct to put 8watts x 7 = 56 watts? What parts would you recommend to achieve this
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop
@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop 4 месяца назад
Hi Dean. Thank you for becoming a member, that is very much appreciated :-) Off the top of the head it was 8 watts a meter, so yes your calculation is correct. So with no remote, you would have to use the socket switch to turn on and off. So Im guessing it would be Plug, cable, driver, splitter extension cable, lights/channel/diffuser. I guess this is the order, whoever I have not done it this way but in theory I suppose it is possible. Is there any resaon you dont want to use the remote? Cheers Ryan :-)

@@thelondoncraftsmanworkshop Hello Ryan. Pleasure to be a member. I’m self employed making wardrobes and alcove units too. I’m looking at putting the LEDs on a smart socket and have them work with Alexa so won’t have the need for the remote or even on a motion sensor
