ABOUT DANNY

Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On RU-vid and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you strike a ball with an iron. If you are looking for how to hit a ball straight with an iron, or want to know how to hit the ball first with irons then these golf drills will give you much better golf ball contact so that you can strike your irons pure.
I believe they are the easiest and best golf irons drills you can use
Also get to see the golf ball contact in slow motion

Once again, thank you Danny. I was always inconsistent in chipping (probably the worst part of my golf game) which probably cost me 5-10 strokes playing 18 holes. I am 72 and shoot usually in the low 90s. Your instructions have helped me to lower my handicap to play more rounds in the 80s. You are my number 1 golf instructor. Stay safe and healthy.

I deliberately saved this video so that I could give you some feedback after trying your method. Fantastic! I am 83 years old and have been playing golf - or at it - since I was 8. I have mostly been about a 10-13 HC. As you well know, you can't have that kind of HC without having a decent short game, especially chipping. (Chipping might be more important than putting, I think.) But this year (because of lockdown), I have played only three times, and all rounds were in the 100s. Not all of it was from chipping, of course, but "chill-dipping" only compounded my frustration. The two days before I saw your video, I went to the chipping green and practiced for three separate hours with a dozen balls from 25 feet, recording how many balls I got up-and-down in two. 2 out of 12! I had forgotten everything I had ever learned about chipping. The more I practiced, the worse I got, especially, under self-imposed pressure. (Your release of the three fingers from the grip really works!) I thought I had no choice but to go to my pro for a lesson. Then I ran across your video, and Voila! Today I returned to the practice chipping green, applied all of your techniques and after about 30 minutes, I easily and consistently changed the 2-in-12 to 9-in-12! I was much farther away than you were in your video, so I used a 9-iron instead of a 56-wedge. Bye, bye chicken wing! Hello, new game! Many, many thanks, Danny. Thumbs up and I subscribed!

Thank you Danny, I have been having problems with my chipping when I am less than thirty yards from the pin. Watching this video opened my eyes to several simple mistakes I was doing. Based on your presentation to the ball and how you set your feet was my first mistake. I had a more open stance to the ball. The second issue was my arms and how I stood over the ball. Changing those two mistakes I was able to more consistently strike the ball. Now, I just need to work on distance. Great video thank you again.

Thank you Danny! For reasons I won’t get into here; I stopped playing 20 years ago and only this season, I have started back at the game (and regretting my decision years ago)! My biggest challenge has been my consistency and this video alone has answered my ‘why did the ball do that??’. I’m now an official Subscriber and between your videos and a local golf instructor (who has a very good approach toward assisting with my understanding of what to do during various scenarios) I feel I’m starting back on the right path. I previously tried your recommended solution for slowing my swing (by saying ‘100 and’ through my back swing, then ‘one’ just before ball contact) the results were immediate. Therefore; I’ll be following you closely!

Huge thank you for this (and all your) video(s). Chipping and short pitching has been my Achilles' heel. I either bladed everything across the green or shanked everything almost 90 degrees to the right. Any time I was within 50 yards of a green I swear I would have been better off using my putter than any of my wedges. Practiced what you explained in this video in my backyard and took it to the course today and every ball I hit was actually airborne and most of them found greens! A literal game-changer for me.

Finally got to watch the video. Great points on using gravity to get the club on the ball. Your example of the chicken wing was me when I was "trying" to figure out pitches and chips. I had recently picked up on the letting gravity help in a 30 challenge on the Sand Trap website. Your teaching reinforces those lessons. I also love the distance control drill - that is one of my favorites. I have enough room to do pitches/chips up to 20-25 yards and if I use my neighbor's, I can go upwards of 50! Also using the putter grip for short chips is the bomb. I do need to develop a better pre-shot routine so I can be more consistent. Many thanks for this lesson...

I love the way you explain it, very natural and straightforward. One question though, there’s a popular video of Mickelson where he’s saying that there’s only one way to chip, the hinge and hold technique. What do you think about this? You’re not using this at all and it looks so much more natural!!!
@DanielMaude
@DanielMaude 4 года назад
Yes, I love what Phil can do with a chip shot. If you look at Phil chip he doesn't really use the hinge and hold, in fact he has actually changed the name on his instagram to hinge and restore which basically means he's releasing the club a little not holding. He is a legend and I did buy his DVD...who wouldn't want to learn from Phil. The hinge and hold method for most golfers will be too difficult to execute

Thanks Danny! Very well taught and hopefully I can go make it happen on the course! I appreciate your videos. It’s really difficult for me to send this to my golf buddies bc I don’t want them to get better 😂 but I did it anyways 👍🏻

Super super super. I've often told golfers the 1 hundred and 1 when they swing like lightning. Also in putting use 1 and 2 for timing

This is the best and clearest chipping/pitching video ever! Beautifully simple and logical. I saw myself in the demonstrations of what not to do! I thought I had the yips, but basically it’s just poor technique. I can feel the optimism returning to replace the fear!

That was a really tremendous video. Thank you very much for all your work and efforts you put in the videos. Especially this one is where I struggle with the most. I definitely try it out in the garden and on the chipping green afterwards. Thank you

Out of the many many youtube golf trainers you are the only one I subscribe to or turn to! If I were to change just one thing.... just slow down the audio a bit. It's like you're trying to tell a 2 minute joke on a bus to a friend when you're only 60 seconds from your stop!

This has always been a problem shot for me. I play game improvement clubs which I like but when I used my 9 iron in such situations near the green the weight in the club made it difficult to control distance for chipping. Using your technique using my 54 sand wedge I got amazing results. Thanks Danny!

Great video as always Danny, I really like the bit about the routine practice strokes then right to actual stroke. I get perplexed by doing beautiful rehearsal shots then look at the target and pause, followed by a chunk into the ground. I'm definitely going to work on developing the routine and then right into the shot. I was dong better for a while after one of your recent chipping videos, but fell into bad habits--I always find it amazing in golf and tennis, many of the things our minds think are the correct move are absolutely not the proper technique--you've made me quite aware of that, and I thank you. Yes, it's our minds are constantly trying to interfere with our strokes. Stand guard at the door way of your mind 😁
