I did the same thing with my daughter's scout Belt 2 years ago… she hated the extra length that was between the belt loops…. So I made her an extra "loop" to put the end of the belt through to hold it in place…. Cobra knots are so useful 😊😊😊

Just discovered your channel and immediately knew it was for me! To abuse a popular maxim, “to a man with a box of paracord, every problem looks like an opportunity for cord weaving and knotting.” Or something like that. Anyway I’ve got a lot of dangly straps that need paracord cobra keepers.

Great idea, Ive got a few old 5.11 packs that have knackered elastic retainers, I like to roll the excess webbing and tuck the whole roll into the elastic so I am hard on them. I had been thinking of simply sewing some fresh elastics on but will try some cord first, cheers.

The excess on straps is meant to be folded on itself 3-4 times before going under the elastic band. This keeps it short, tidy, and snug. The trick is learning how tight to fold the strap. Too tight and you end up with too much material under the elastic. Too loose and you end up with a mess of strap that looks like you haven't used an elastic keeper at all. I've run so many military packs over the years and these always have absurd lengths of straps, as they usually make sure they have and adjustment range to fit on the smallest soldier without body armor right on up to the largest soldier with body armor. Efficiently rolling the straps is critical to having your equipment stay looking tidy, though most will just end up using tape in the end once they've got a "set and forget" length dialed in...
