Hey guys! During the live premier several people asked about the durability of the adhesive backed carpet. If this video can get 3,000 views in a month I will make a video torture-testing the carpet. Give me some ideas of how best to demonstrate the durability of the carpet! Here is a link to the carpet: www.sonicelectronix.com/item-169825-NVX-STBXC16.html?rfsn=4586283.bdb10
People that are worried about it’s durability are the same ones who don’t secure the box inside the vehicle. At that I say the durability factors I would worry about are heat and sun “bleaching”. As with any adhesive, heat would be my biggest concern. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@KevinDC5 I use velcro strips to keep it secure in the boot. Get 2 bits of adhesive backed velcro and stick the adhesive sides to each other. 1 side of velcro on the boot floor the other side sticks to the box carpet
I like the groove idea! With the router “walking” on you, I like to use two pieces of angle aluminum that I got at homedpot for cheap. It takes double the clamps but creates a nice track that prevents that. Love the build! Keep up the great work! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@DIYAudioGuy Yea man I dig that MTX was responsible for the first 130db I ever experienced around '91 My biggest moving regret was a pair of 1976 Sansui Home speakers with 21" woofers in them boy oh boy were those rich!
I think your router was walking because you may have been climb cutting, meaning the rotation of the router bit wasn't pushing the router against the straight edge you had there. Something to think about for next time. Love your videos, greatly appreciate all of your information 🍻
Yeah, I thought they were overpriced and overhyped until I bought one. That metal tab on the back of this one is very useful. I've used it for opening paint cans, tons of other stuff.
@@DIYAudioGuy I got 1 for work. I was swayed to get one based on the multiple break off blades as with a stanley knife, there is only 2 sides of the blade before swapping out another blade. The back edge is great for opening cans of paint and as a make shift screw driver. I discovered the brand through Mark at the Fab Kitchen with the craft knife and looked for something more heavy duty. They don't seem to be popular in the UK. Hope you get your vinyl technique down. I was watching thinking how to overcome that issue. Maybe a trim ring or a dado to tuck the carpet and vinyl in.
@@turboduckhead6179 I'm going to try a different vinyl. This stuff just didn't have any stretch to it. I'll let it sit out in direct sunlight for a little while, that helped a bit but not really enough.
I would like to -- they are a little bit pricey. I working on another often-requested pre-fab review right now. If that video does well I should be able to afford one of these: lddy.no/1073r
Sealed or ported? I've always gone for sealed they just sound better in the car where ported just don't cut it for me and usually shakes the car to bits, I've 2 x 12" pioneer comps in the boot with separate areas for each side fully sealed in 1 box
So just a old way I like to do it, I recess my side panels a half a inch and make 1/4 inch panels I cover in material. Then I either double side tape them in if it's mdf or Brad nail them if it's plywood.
@@DIYAudioGuy It's nice because you call roll your carpet or vinyl of the edge and you don't have a cut seam. Plus you can get fancy with the insert and make it different colors or make a design in it....ect ect.
Just find this channel while look up how to make sub woofer box.. ·· Τнäиκ чöü ·· for this video. Helpful for newbie diy’s. What should my box size for my single America sounds subwoofer? 15 INCH DOUBLE MAGNET DOUBLE COIL 1100WATTS Max. Nice! Vinyl can be such a pain to work with. Looks like the blue stuff you got there is fairly stiff. Exact same sort of stuff I learned on! Four-way stretch vinyl is a lot easier to work with, but it's crazy-expensive, and can be difficult to find. Master the craft-store stuff, and there's nothing you won't be able to do! I'm currently in the planning stages of a pair of home theater subwoofer towers that I hope to be able to start on in the coming month or two. I'm kinda old-school in my approach; I do all my drafting on paper, and I'm working with a whole lot of new angles and complex cuts that I've never done before, so it's taking me some time to work everything out. Math was never my strong suit... LOL Thanks for the awesome video and inspiration! It's always great to see people learning and having fun. :D
Hey, i need advice, im building enclosure for center ch and space is tight, depth of speaker is 4.35mm and my box depth is 4.4mm, is it safe to be this tight? or should i give it abit more depth? gonna run with audison dsp and it will only play above 200-300hz , also its 4inch in size. ty
Does the speaker have a vent on the back of the magnet? If so, that will definitely not work because you need room for the vent to breathe. If there's no vent on the back of the magnet, I'm not 100% certain.
Hi do you sell your sub box and if you do were can I check them out. And do you also do custom box. I have an American bass xfl 12in and I need a custom box for it let me know if you do something for me please and thank you.
Need a nice ported box for a 10” kicker comp c, wanna build me one if you got any free time? 😬 dont think the kicker box is letting it live to full potential
DIY Adio Guy what ya think of those Morel speakers ? U like the 10" s I got the 12 Ultimo titanium SC 122 like to put in band pass or T-line for flat ish HZ fr 15-18 to 35-40 hz. Not sure its doable ? Thanks brother. I'm in Missouri. Ur in Ohio? Enjoy ur week. What's that email again thanks
I like these simple builds. I've found spray adhesive to be easier to work with than the stuff you had to brush on, and if you made a mistake, a bit of acetone takes it all off again. As for the vinyl, I like to make the flush mount cut just slightly larger and leaving a bit of a vinyl "lip" around the edges - screwing the driver in drives the vinyl lip down into the recess, resulting in a smoother edge and finish with no visible cuts. And to get the vinyl to fit smoothly into those grooves that you cut into the box, a few dowel rods, some clamps and a flat surface may be all that's required.
@@DIYAudioGuy Using something like this might be easier, and won't clog up the spray gun :-) - www.westmarine.com/buy/3m--super-77-spray-adhesive--202580
I had 2 kicker comp 15s and 2 kicker comp 12s powered off separate alpine amps and it was crazy. A friend of mine let me listen to his stereo and I was like bloody hell that’s pretty good. He opened his boot and I couldn’t believe my eyes. He had a small sealed box with a pioneer premier 12” sub just sat in there 🤣 that thing was funny but did it hit hard. Amazing it was
