A wood finish that has been around for centuries is a mixture of beeswax and oil. This three-part finish is a modern version that uses beeswax, boiled linseed oil, and turpentine. It's easy to make, easy to apply, and easy to store for future use. Randy Maxey shows how he mixes this finish and applies it to a project.

GREAT finish! But I think I'd use some organic flax seed oil instead of BLO. I don't think that stuff is safe w/ the "dryers" added. I use flax seed oil on my totes & knobs & I think they look & feel great.

Very cool. Thank you for sharing this. Applying finish is my least favorite part of the craft as well. I let the client handle that part. Unless they are cool with a hand rubbed natural finish that I don't feel compelled to wear gloves with, rather moisturize these paws with when I'm done. Otherwise I just leave the finishing to a finisher. I make up my own personal blend that is not flammable or toxic and give a 2oz (or more) tin of it to the clients when they do opt for my own finish. That way they can re-apply it as needed. Like you said sir, it goes a long way. Thanks again for sharing this recipe. I see many folks making a major production of these ingredients and you demonstrate that it's actually quite simple.

I'm wondering if Mineral Spirits could be used in lieu of turpentine? Seems they do the same thing - thin things. I just hate to buy another long lasting product to store if I don't have to. I'm liking the boiled linseed oil and I'd like to try adding the beeswax
