my mind has been blown. just finished bingeing quite a bit of the channel. The fact that you are NOT teaching 'quick step' 'do this one thing' to colour grade is amazing, love that you are teaching that we have to put in the work for great results! I can't believe in depth instruction is amazing. I feel like I'm back in class, in a good way.
Hey Qazi, excellent video. It’s been a long time. I think I was your 777 subscribers. I watch all your videos. I’m still here, sitting back in the cut.
@@jeremypope-levison721it makes the gain knob feel similar like the offset in dwg but imo it white balances more quickly as if you're literally adjusting the camera
It gives you photometric exposure and balance using the gain wheel. An added result of which is pinned blacks. The offset wheel will introduce a shift in your blacks which you must compensate for. The HDR wheel is essentially linear gain if your colour management is correct.
When you walk through your node tree- could you explain the purpose behind why you make changes? That's one of the hardest things for me to understand as a beginner, is why I should be making small changes
Love your videos Qazi!! It has helped tremendously in my journey... As a wedding filmmaker I often struggle with grading footage taken at night during reception at weddings, the challenge being incandescent light often affecting skin tones and overall color, this is extremely difficult to balance Any advice would be appreciated!!
Been following for a long time! Love all you do and you have helped my color grading in so many ways! One question I have is I follow your node tree you do in most videos coming from log to DWG then DWG to rec 709 gamma 2.4. I get it looking how I like but when I go to export it exports not near as contrasted as my screen shows. Do you know why? Is it my screen or is it my export settings? I choose advanced settings in the color and make sure it’s Rec 709 gamma 2.4
Can you do another video explaining more on how to color grade 8bit footage and what’s the best log for 8bit footage, Slog2 or HLG? Love all the videos!
I have a question. I also work with groups, on a much smaller scale than you. I do real estate walk-through videos, 1-2 minutes and very basic. I generally have 3 groups. 1 for my drone clips, one for my camera exterior clips, and 1 for my camera interior clips. I have been doing the color space tranform in pre-clip and post-clip for each group. Is this a good practice, and should I put NR in pre-clip as well?
My questions: 1. Is it possible to not reset stabilization while copying grades? I usually stabilise on edit page before grading but if I copy grades later my stabilization disables and I have to remember to do it again. 2. What's the purpose of layer mixer, is it different than placing nodes one after the other? Maybe there was a video about it that I missed.
Can you do a simple node tree using c-log 2? Canon Log just seems different from every other kind, I've figured out how to best work with it, but it can get complicated when collaborating with other editors.
New Fx30 user here -With S-Cinetone can I still achieve moody, cinematic looking grades? I watched the fight scene video for S-Log3 and am wondering how crazy we can get with S-Cinetone!
Hi Qazi Actually I usually color grade food footage from Sony a7 Siii and I need to improve my color grading and understand color more and I want to know what way do I use for pro color grading ?!!!
Excellent episode. Do you think Colorist will/have overcome Editors? As I think Colorist is specialised nieche where Editor is a whole spectrum. Thanks in advance.
HI, How to take and deliver footages to the clients, what is the workflow for the projects in which different softwares are used and as a colorist how can we work along that. thanks
can i know how to export the vids in the best quality? i use apsc camera and i shoot 4k25fps. So can you tell me how to setup the timeline and how do i export the vids so that the result is as good as i watch all those vids in tiktok when im done editing.
Sony FX3 I shy from shooting SLOG3 as I cant figure out how to get a rich vibrant picture like an iPhone. I know then why did I buy it. I wanna become a professional. So I wonder if there is a way to color grade that way. Thanks!
Hi Qazi What will be difference between Netflix looks and movies looks because movies are inside the Netflix only Or there are same ?. I saw in RU-vid most of colorists have separate topics like Netflix looks and movies looks. Thank you KD
Hey man, whenever I try to grade for a prolonged period, it starts to look bad. But after a short break, when I check the same footage, the clip looks good. Does that happen to a pro colorist like yourself?
yes, brother. This is normal. That's why having a proper grading environment is super important. Also, taking breaks is also important to avoid eye fatigue and those type of challenges.
Why is a Color Space Transform used sometimes, and other times just using Curves to get a Base Correction? With a CST I get an image that looks 100% like what I shot, but with the Curves I get something similar, but my colors are off. Like my reds look more orange and greens are darker. Not the same look as when I shot it.
I have ONE question. I’m using pirate version of Davinci Resolve Studio and I’m curious is it Resolve on my system cant handle 4k, 422, 200mbps, h265, slog3 or the reason is that is pirate version? My PC specs: Ryzen 9 3600X RTX3060Ti 32Gb RAM NVME SSD Win11 P. S. I cant afford licence
Hi Qazi. My biggest headache right now is Media Offline error that occurs especially when I set to Render Cache. Both USER and SMART option. No, there are no missing clips. Relinking does not work. Clearing cache does not work. Zooming works, but soon as clip turns blue, the Media Offline error is back. SEND HELP!!!
I always get confused on how to get the perfect grading how to choose the right colors I watch one video it’s this way I watch another it’s different all so confusing can you show us your process on how you chose the perfect grade and colors.
Q. How to colour correct, colour balance, colour grade of iphone non pro(iphone 14,15) model's footages Q. Please make a tutorial on Blackmagic camera with non-pro models
from the first steps about tree its already complicated!!!!!!! what about the color transfer in the last node, what yo start complicated, make color transform on 1 node, that copy past and too on...?
It's not complicated he just converted the slog footage to davinci wide gamut which allows you to work on a larger color space and in the last node he converted it from davinci wide gamut(because from node 1-6 it'll be DWG) to rec709 which is the color standard for digital platforms.
How can I colour grade my Apple log footage to get the teal & Orange cinematic outcome? I realized all your previous video tutorial have log footage from professional camera and when I applied the steps on my Apple log, the results isn’t satisfactory.
