I’d choose ring if I could redo everything. Quality seems much better and upgrades to the tech is better as well. Less latency and better wifi performance with their products.

Thank you for the great and hones review. Although we have a Simplisafe security system......I just have read too many reviews that the Simplisafe cameras are not up to par to other outdoor cameras as you have mentioned. We actually use Arlo outdoor cameras in combination with our Simplisafe security system.

Yeah, I do. Do you mean how it works on the app or how to install it. I review the footage and if it's any good lol which is honestly more than most reviewers do. Most review for a week and dump it for the next product, I haven't built standardized tests since I'm not always testing these types of products.

Yes, but it depends. From time to time it lags. I have solved this by getting better wifi signal but it still isn’t great in terms of transfer speed since it’s still on the 2.4ghz signal. The Ring Pro with dual band is much better. I hope SimpliSafe makes this upgrade eventually.

Thank you for an excellent review. I cannot recommend Simpli-Safe outdoor cameras. Our internet upload speed is 40/mbps and all of our cameras lag whenever motion is detected. These cameras miss people walking to and from the front door, cars entering and exiting the driveway, and they rarely capture motion in the backyard. Simpli-Safe blames our ISP. We have had our ISP out multiple times and it’s not the internet speed. It’s the low-end technology used by the cameras. The cameras might do well in a smaller setting, but If you have multiple floors, invest in a more professional set up.

So far I have not seen any issues with the cameras whether it be the doorbell or the outdoor cameras in terms of latency. The overall quality I’ve seen better in Ring and Google but I would say the most important thing is wifi range. We have a mesh network that I setup specifically because of this. That’s what I would blame it on not your ISP as 40mbps is plenty for 1080p or 720p uploads. There’s also sensitivity settings that you can play with and I’ve typically not had any issues with the cameras not detecting me unless the internet was down and the cameras are offline.

The camera sucks never got more than 48 hours of battery life.

Mine definitely last longer than 48 hours again it depends on traffic. If it picks something up and is on full sensitivity yeah it would last last maybe a day. I hooked them up to a small solar panel and haven’t had to charge them at all.

My battery lasts a week. I'm going to try dropping the sensitivity to Medium & aiming it down to avoid all the traffic in the alley. It's for my driveway. If that doesn't help I'll get a wired camera from Eufy.

Please do not buy the simplisafe door bell, my house was robbed twice , wife and kids home and a guy was on the side of my house, he walked right up to the door bell and it didn't pick it up. Simplisafe DOES not care, transfer, explain the whole story again, and they trouble shoot, then do nothing.

I agree. I got rid of it and got a ring. The simplisafe video is extremely slow to load, barely catches movement, and when it does catch it would rarely save the video and would just give me an error when I tried to open it. I have 2 of the cameras and the quality is sub par, the motion detection is lackluster and doesn't catch anything (even when someone is walking in front of it), and again the app is so slow to load the live video. I have it hardwired and wish it would stay on but whenever I go to open it the app says it is waking the camera up.

@@sharonanne116 yes you can have both, it's just 2 apps. Simplisafe is what I use for the alarm and ring is the doorbell camera. I'm likely going to swap out the 2 simplisafe outdoor cameras I have as well. They never catch motion even though I have it set to the most sensitive setting
