A PaulH lather is pretty much just him brushing the load on from the puck or bowl and off he goes! Lovely fella though. You sort of watch him for his personality, much like Kensurfs and Sinatralennon. None are great lather makers but are superb people
Christopher Clayton you are absolutely right. Paul and Kensurfs and Kevy Shaves are so much fun to watch with their personalities. It's pickup time baby! :-)
The Simpson knots are made in house at Simpson’s. They order the hair from whatever source, then weigh the hair to make sure every brush has the same amount in the knot, then shape and tie the knot. Then they have 2 different adhesive processes to set the knot in the handle. 1 keeps the knot together and the other keeps the knot in the handle. The entire brush is made under the same roof on the Isle of Man. I love the Chubby series.
Great shave, and your Chubby 2 created great lather, it's sad that it turned out to be a shedder. I got a pre loved Chubby 3 in Best Badger. Last owner didn't liked it for various reasons, I seem to be unable to create any workable lather with it. Face feel is gorgeous, but I'm struggling with the lather, smh.
Good shave Cris!!! Biggest knot I have on a brush is 28mm. I have that same brush you are using, and it lathers like a beast!!! That's the one I use for my head lathers. As you see it works like a charm. I got mine as a gift from my dad, as he is a wet shave collector himself. Have a great weekend!!!
Great shave, Chris! Wish I had a Simpson or a Shavemac, or both. In the meantime it's the Yaqi 24mm Aqua Highmountain Silvertip Badger for me. A truly pristine brush, yet quite affordable at $40 from Aliexpress. Using it with Martin de Candre for the whole month of October. Being a vegan soap sceptic, I must say, I 've had two fantastic shaves so far.
I’ve been in the market for a higher end brush. The Simpson Chubby 2 Badger has been on my radar. This video helped me pull the trigger just now as I found this brush on sale for $100.00. The third variant is still a bit too much in price. Now it’s a bit of a waiting game as it travels USPS ground. Can’t wait to give it a wirl. Banging shave, Chris. Thanks for the epic content, cheers 🍻
Hopefully you don’t end up with a shedder as I did. Fingers crossed buddy! It was an amazing knot but sadly it ended up in the bin when I raged a bit with it hahaha
@@AnotherCutAbove sorry to hear that happened. Maybe I should have watched more videos. Either way, I'm sure I'll enjoy it for as long as it lasts. Thanks for the heads up.
@@AnotherCutAbove Thanks Chris. If I can get a good 6 months of lathering bliss, I'll count my blessings. I'll be watching your videos to see the rage you mentioned. Also curious to see which badger brush became your favorite. Have a wonderful day, brother 🍻👍
Mark Wiens: OH WOOW 🤪 Like I mentioned on Instagram I borrowed the Manchurian variety of the brush. My reaction was very similar. Just surprised me how good it was. Beautiful lather, beautiful performance.
Great shave Chris, great trade there, I love Simpsons brushes and over the last couple of years their QC is right back to how it used to be. Shame the Nodachi is not avsilable withe the standard Masamune handle as I like the look of the dimples all over the handle rarher than just at the top.
With the Simpsons chubby 2 some websites say it's a 27mm knot some say it's a 28mm knot. 27mm is the absolute minimum size I think. When I got my Simpsons chubby 2 I measured the knot size several times. It came up at 28.5 :). What a great brush it's my favourite shaving brush. Also I really feel you get your money's worth with this brush £130/$168. Have a great day.
Sadly Geoff my brush shed over 300 hairs from my first use and throwing it in the bin, along with Simpson failing to contact me for 18 days soured my whole experience! It's easily the best knot I have used by far! I lost my shit the last time I used it and threw it out and the bin man collected an hour later! I don't even miss it now!
Looks a great brush mate! As for the Nodachi, think all of your videos have helped me realise that I'm happy with the Karve. No doubt the Masamune is a great razor and efficient, but I think once you have a Karve in your den you've got more choice and the difference in smoothness seems only slight.
Hi Chris... Ive always used synthetic brushes but recently purchased a That Darn Rob with what he calls his Fanchurian knot. And I had the same reaction as you did in this film. Unbelievable experience. Now I find myself buying another brush with a badger knot. I still like my synthetic brushes but the experience I m getting using a badger is too awesome to give up. :-)
I have a CH2. But this knot is big for me, so I'm looking at CH1, but I'm worried that the handle on this one will be too small for me. Did you feel uncomfortable with the handle of the CH1?
Lol, have no fear, I still have the first one I used with the loose magnets and bent screw, I was sent a replacement at cost from Leaf and it was faulty, so my Third time lucky razor is almost here! I’ll be doing an unboxing and comparison of they 3 then back to some leaf shaves!
I have the same exact Simpsons brush but it has fallen out of favor since I got a custom WW brush with a SynBad knot. It was simply hogging up too much lather.
Man this thing was releasing the lather really really well! But every knot is different, I may have got lucky! With a synth I always get a top notch lather, with natural hair it’s alwAys hit and miss!
@@AnotherCutAbove ok I do agree Simpsons brushes are something else I have a chubby 2 Manchurian and chubby 3 super both are amazing. I'm thinking to get a fanchurian there new version 4 has come out so may buy it
My Simpson brush is shedding like crazy! I losing 15+ hairs per use however if you buy new you get a 1 year warranty so that's good! I absolutely love the Chubby brush! Yeah I tried the one blade cream with the one blade a long long time ago. It looks it was ok 👌
Somebody offert me an Simpson Chubby 3 these days. Like the look and the handle but 190 Euro for an used brush.. man... That is a lot of money. I passed...
@@AnotherCutAbove yes, i think you did a great deal! Very good. The brush looks awesome! But buying it? Never... I love my Yaqi 24mm two bands. Maybe no comparison but still nice brushes.
