ariean rachmat not just a father. Single mothers do this exact same thing. A parent/guardian's love is the most powerful force on earth. No bond can separate that from their children.
Its especially poignant since virtually all the Simpsons writers are liberals, many of them atheists, and yet they honestly showed a staunch conservative like Flanders as a goodhearted person and even a role-model. Its always beautiful when people of one end of the political spectrum can see that even people with very opposing views can still be perfectly good people.
despite having all this negative sides of his personality i loved how he was deep down a good person with a kind heart and a loving father when shit got real
RegularDude yeah. Unlike Peter, who puts autistic people in a bad light, Homer is just an actual idiot. And despite his flaws, he still cares. However, we can admit the choking Bart gags need to stop or be less frequent.
I have a 2 year old daughter. Thinking of her gets me through my work days. I can be a bumbling idiot (a bit like Homer) but if there's one thing that I've done right (aside from the love for my fiancé, her mother) it's being her dad.
@@ermitanyohermit3603 He's talking about their first world, homer was trying to get bart and lisa to say daddy when they were baby, but only maggie actually says it, and homer didn't even ask her to say anything.
In my opinion, the touching moment in the Maggie's "Daddy" part was that sometimes Homer doesn't think that his family truely love him, so hearing his children calling him Dad means a lot for him, cause that means that they see him more than just a regular person, he's their father, their FATHER, and being stupid doesn't mean you don't know what love is, so hearing them calling him Homer means that he's nothing special for them. What do you think? Let me know :)
Jalen Stimes I'm just glad the simpsons didn't go like Family a guy. Start out as a okay and funny , than just become cruel. Simpsons become a fine ass show and go though a few problems.
@@peepsg Not really as that episode was a season 8 holdover and season 9 in general is just like 8 but a bit more wacky. It's more like season 10 when it started to take a nosedive but the show did cover a bit during season 20.
@@ItsHailee7 well that I heard it was originally went downhill. But I can still watched Season 9 and 10 it decent. And yeah I seen some Season 9 were holdover of Season 8 maybe like Lisa got first saxophone 🎷
This sums up why the Golden Age of the Simpsons will always surpass its imitators and peers. At it’s core, no matter how much the characters rag on each other, their love we have for them and they have for each other makes them real. It goes beyond being what it needed to be, and we are all privileged to have it in our lives.
Homer's acts of kindness towards Ned are just wonderful and perfectly expose why The Simpsons is so wonderful. It's not just funny, it's about a good, kind American family. People initially said The Simpsons represented what was wrong with America, now I feel like more Americans being like the Simpsons would make the world a far kinder place.
Even Family Guy had a kind, albeit far more dysfunctional family for their first couple of seasons. I think their earlier seasons took inspiration from the Simpsons. Of course I don't Family Guy is very wholesome at all anymore.
The one with the pictures, Homer made the sign say, do it for her, whereas the sign originally said, don't forget, you're here forever. That one is so beautiful, and never gets old.
The Simpsons I'm so sorry about your father. I hope you remember your best moments with him and carry him in your heart with everything do in your life :)
The Simpsons it was worked on by Brad Bird, who made The Iron Giant, a film that made us feel too much for a CG animated, fifties, alien robot voiced by Vin Diesel. I swear, when he goes for heart, Bird gets us.
That one where Homer is on his car chokes me up. That music is so perfect too. Another amazing moments are at the end of Round Springfield when Lisa and Bleeding Gums play the sax one last time.
Gerardo Reyes I think simpsons was good with brad bird. He made the iron giant and the incredibles, which were possibly the most heart gripping films. To me, he's the best director ever.
This is the one thing you really can't get from modern Simpsons. Sure, we'll still get a few good jokes here and there, and some cool couch gags, but we'll never get truly heartwarming, sad and earnest moments from the Simpsons anymore.
Fresh Baked Comedy yeah for example of that episode when Homer is an old man he acted almost exactly like classic Homer why can't they do that again with the modern Simpsons episodes and to be honest I am a huge fan of Family Guy but I can't deny that it doesn't have any heart or emotional moments or anything like that it's all pure comedy
If you want to be sad honey.. be sad, we'll ride it out with you. And when you get finished being sad, we'll still be there. From now on, let me do the smiling for the both of us. Who remembers this?
One thing about Homer is that even though he's a moron and a bumbling idiot, he does care and he's deeply devoted to his family. I especially like how he has the photos of Maggie in his work place covering the "DON'T FORGET YOU'RE HERE FOREVER" sign and it reads "DO IT FOR HER". just goes to show that he cares deeply for his family, especially his youngest daughter
@@brandonmorris92 And yet in that episode where Meg called them all out the show made her cave in and go back to being the family's punching bag so they wouldn't tear each other apart. Family Guy is such a shitty show.
@@AFanOfCinema Admittedly, at first, I felt that Meg was in the wrong for calling them out, but then many episodes later, I now realized the message she was trying to get across. Right then and there, she should have moved out immediately.
God homer was so well written. He loved his family so much. The things he was willing to do for them is remarkable, and even when he would make a mistake, he would always try to fix it.
In the last scene, there is an even more emotional part before, when Homer's mother says "Well, the underground awaits" and Homer replies "At least this time I am awake for your goodbye".
The Maggie scenes are so tender 😪 I think there's a few really heartfelt episodes centering on Homer and Lisa. Like the one where they enter the museum for an ancient Egypt exhibition. Or when he works late night shift to afford her pony lol. It's not necessarily "sad" but it gets me every time. Maybe because I've had a very affectionate relationship with my dad ❤️
Woah 🤯🤯 how have I never noticed that before?? I'm 35; And have been watching the simpsons since I was in elementary school. . . . . . I'm glad you pointed that out haha. .
We all remember the Simpsons as one of the greatest comedies of all time with it's hilariously dark humor and cruel satire. But its moments like these that truly made the show great.
I’m so sorry for your loss may your mother always be in your heart ♥️. She’ll always be with you :) 🌸💕. Never stop loving her like she never stopped loving you 💗
One of the things I loved about growing up in the '90s was watching The Simpsons when it was brand new and amazing. Now the Simpsons is old and it's fading into weak quality. At least I can easily go back and watch the classic episodes now though
Do they really make us laugh...all it is, is pop culture references and celebrities based episodes. The only episode I think really stood out in modern day simpsons was the one about Santa's Little Helper and his mother
I've said it before i'll say it again, the ending with Homer's mom leaving always stuck with me. Very bitter sweet, i remember thinking wow i honestly don't know how to feel. I was sad for sure but factoring in everything it just left me speechless.
The one with Maggies first word is such a beautifully set up moment. Like, the whole episode is filled with jokes about Bart and Lisa calling Homer by his first name, then it just ends with Maggie calling him "Daddy" and it's played completely strait. It's so sweet and tragic cause to this day, after 30 years, that's always been her first canonical word....and he'll never know.
I feel an episode that gets totally overlooked for emotional moments is 'Marge Be Not Proud'. The entire episode has deep moments but the ending is really beautiful.
The episode where you learn about Maggie’s birth does a great job explaining why Marge tolerates Homer’s stupidity. Despite his many flaws, he’s still a loving father who gave up his dream job to work a terrible job that pays well just so he can support his family.
I’d say the most emotional one for me is the one where homer gets poisoned and is told he has 24 hours to live but instead of waiting It out he instinctively tries to do everything with his family and it goes to show that in your final moments don’t waste them but cherish them and make them worth it
"Do it for her" Always gets to me. When I got to 25, I got pictures of my family together in a frame with a caption "Do it for them". Every time I sit at my desk wanting to walk out with the amount of paperwork I need to put onto a computer, I just look left and see the frame. Having something like that will keep you going at work :-)
Me too. 😭 I almost cried after hearing the speech, & seeing the 2 actually hug did NOT make it any better (what I mean is my chance of crying did not get any lower)
Oh these are feel good emotional clips. The feel bad emotionally would probably consist of Selma seeing Seymour and Patty kiss, Edna being stood up by Bart’s love letter prank or Krusty being kicked out of The Simpsons’ house cause of his family issues with his dad.
The moments that always got me, are "Maggies first words" and the story about his Mom. Just seeing Ho0mer sitting and watching the sky with the music is just touching. Maybe you get me right, when I say: sometimes Homer is a bit like Forrest Gump to me. We consider them to be light headed, even dumb. But in the right moments both show they have the biggest hearts.
Gotta say, Homer is really a good example of a father. This world could be better off with those kinds of people. My father never really was a good example of a dad.
How could you have left out Mr. Bergstrom and "You are Lisa Simpson"? That also contained Homer's greatest moment as a father, comforting all three of his children.
What about the times Bart stands up for Mrs. K.? They always had a good relationship. Much more meaningful and endearing than she and Seymour Skinner....
Remember when Ned was a cheesy and annoying but genuinely good-hearted and kind dude instead of a thinly-veiled narcissistic zealot? There’s a reason it’s called Flanderization.
it's always those moments with Homer and Flanders that drive the emotional train home. and the Maggie pictures at his job makes me cry every time. but nothing hit me harder than Homer saying goodbye to his mother. 😭😭😭😭😭
I'm surprised not many talk about the moment where Homer and his Dad play and bond together before his ''death'' due to the fugu, for once they have a heart to heart and interact like father and son, and sadly it all vanishes away because even if they bonded, Homer still doesn't feel attached to his dad because of the way he abused him in the past. Homer's relationship with his dad is a painful trip man.
