Giving up the birthdays in Sims 1....sure, giving up the years passing by, sure....but to give up the basic week concept, I think that was a real mistake.
I am honestly shocked that they thought completely changing the core fundamentals of a sims game would be well received with Sims 4. In terms of "Sims 5", from what we've seen of Project Renee.... my hopes are not very high.
Honestly, I'm surprised it's been going on for what.....9 years now? Yet, it still shows little sign of meaningful improvement? For as much as everyone keeps criticizing the game, why do they keep giving EA their money?
the realisation that they no longer cared about the game and just money is the sickening part. firing the old developers was their mistake, they actually cared about making the franchise good
@@Takejiro24 its the "regular"" cashed up fans who don't care about the flaws and just keep dumping money because "new stuff!". This leads to EA to continue and perpetuate the milking of the almost-dead cash cow.
One thing that is actually known about being scrapped during Sims 4 development is the world Windenburg. However, they reworked it and reused it for Get Together EP. Which I actually find funny even after all those years.
what makes me giggle is thst they scrapped out foundations, diagonal doors and windows, but not comic sans being the main font of the whole sims 1 lmfao they were for real so unserious
The keep focusing on the words multiplayer and Project Rene. I don't think it's gonna be The Sims 5, they probably don't even have the name for the game. But of course, in a few years, if I'm wrong, I'll be really disappointed, and I'll just stick to inzoi and sims 2/3/4.
@@Pumpkin_Adam The Sims 1 was called "Project X" in its development days, and the Sims 4 "Project Olympus"... They're keeping the name "Project Rene" only so they could abandon it and keep milking on the Sims 4 if it flops...
@@adrianblake8876Project Olympus was a disaster before it release, and end up become "the Sims 4" 😢, what if project olympus wasn't a disaster when it trying to release, we probably won't have ts4 yet in 2014.. and that the best for us because probably Ts4 when it release going to be as close as Ts3 in quality 😅 in alternate universe ts4 might be the best in the franchise
all this olympus stuff is also probably the reason why sims 4 is struggling to manage the load of all the expansions and dlcs that are being released for it
the sims 4 could've been a pretty good game, IF they hadn't made it so you got a loading screen just for walking to your next door neighbors house. 🤦🏻♀️
It would have been a good game if they hadn't had the online idea for so long. We just want to create sims, build houses and simulate life in a chaotic way, not chat with strangers. If I want to chat I have instagram for that.
Early Sims 1 UI is based on Sim City 3000 hence the vertical form than the usual UI we know. Also they had way more things than the final version. Sims 2 is also such an ambitious game, with a lot of features are understandably cut sadly. Others like Pictures for the TV and Baby textures, are scrapped so that they have nicer things.
Interesting video! It's so interesting to see how many MORE things were planned for Sims 2, which was already an amazing game for its era and even now. This also makes things about Sims 4 make sense. For the little time they had to adapt it to an offline single-player game, I honestly think they did a pretty decent job. The people working ON the game have no blame - it's the people above who just demand things without even considering what the audience would like. Also, I always appreciate a Call Me Kevin reference :D
Thank you. Sims 4 gameplay definitely suffered a lot due to the mismanagement but they’ve somewhat salvaged it, some of the features they’ve added over the years are generally solid imo
a lot of people don't realize that the reason the sims 4 would have been an online game was based on the success of the Facebook game Sim Social and how successful it was. if they had just kept sim social and then modeled a full game off of it like a sequel then who knows. i remember all the concept stuff for the original sims game because i was originally a sim city player. I was preggers with my 2nd child in 1999 😂 i played the original sim city on the super Nintendo. it came out in 1997, the year i graduated from high school. i love seeing these types of videos because it cracks me up. also another reason why the sims 2 is so different from it's concept is because they lost a part of the game due to a massive fire at the maxis studio. luckily someone had a copy of part of the game on a computer at their home. i remember when that was made known and it was a big thing.
Sims online/ EA land wasn’t successful. It shut down in 2008 as there wasn’t enough players. When it launched there were 165000 and when it shut down 30000-40000 players. It was a multiplayer subscription based game. It is referred to as 20 million dollar failure and is one of Will Wright’s failed ideas.
24:31 and Sims 4 is *still* bland compared to the previous games. The devs have had plenty of time to add extras, fix the bugs everyone has been complaining about since day 1 and now in December 2023 the game is STILL unfinished.
This was such an interesting video. I love taking a look at unused content in my favorite video games,to see what could have been. I hope the Sims 4 ( or maybe even 5) would re-introduce some of these. I really love the additional scenarios from the sims 2,the extra traits of the sims 3 ( especially the colorblind one. How could you remove such a unique trait?),and i love the Power aspiration. Great video,as always ❤.

That’s reasonable. I think for now gameplay experiments will have voice overs but vids like this will have subtitles as i enjoy making them in this style moreso than with commentary
Its really kind of you saying sims 4 have development hell so thats why the base game is so barren compared to sims 2 & 3, painting that EA still have goodwill smh and now almost decade later we barely see any major improvements except all of it inside by DLCs that still have a lot of missing features of sims 3 and the base game almost have no improvement than initial release also need all those DLCs to mostly enjoy the game.
i wish someone modded there to be a functional boss scenario i think it would be so fun to hvae to impress him like with the headmaster 😭 also lmao at the "play in" computer reaction, that would have been hilarious if they kept it 🤣
It actually comes with the unofficial expansion pack by Chris Hatch. It’s basically a compilation of a bunch of his mods and I’ve always wanted to try it out but it has A LOT of… interesting stuff that I don’t feel like dealing with 💀 check out Angel & Nurses EP if you want to go down that rabbit hole
