This was a great performance, with Plant in true form and Jimi Page at his improvisational best. But I'll never understand why they didn't bring John Paul Jones into their post Zeppelin collaborations. I've heard them say in interviews that they didn't want give the impression that Led Zeppelin is "getting back together". Fair enough. Without Bonzo, it's not Zep. I get it. But there's no reason they couldn't have toured as Page, Plant and Jones, with other musicians like this to back them up. If they're going to be playing Zeppelin songs anyway, why not have 3/4 of the band instead of just half. It's not like JPS's contribution to those songs was minor. He was arguably one of the better, if not best musician in the band. I think there was still a lot more great new music to be created by the three remaining original members working together. It's unfortunate that it was never given the opportunity to happen.
I saw zeppelin several times, and they were the gold standard to which no other band will ever come close to the magic page, plant,Jones and Bonham made!

Even when Page is playing literally all over the damn place going who knows where with it completely differently to the original, he still has the presence of mind to land back on the major chords that the song hinges on and thread it all together! Masterful!
I was at this show. I was a Junior in Highschool. I went solo. Bought tickets, 2nd row, center. 1995, now 2022, still the best concert I've ever seen. I was 17 years old.
If Page isn't drooling, or looking a bit like a mess, it's not Page. If the playing, and the guitarist isn't a bit sloppy, it's not Page. And if he doesn't kick your ass out of the park doing licks no one has ever done before, or ever since, it's not Page. Even when he's bad, he's good. And when he's good, he's great. There's no one like him.
The best song of all time. Heavy white Blues... You can't talk, you can't talk. Be silent and feel.. Absorb into yourself.. Like a sponge with water, like a swallow enjoys the morning, as the Sun shines - For all. Лучшая песня всех времён и народов. Тяжёлый белый блюз... Нельзя говорить,надо молчать. Молчать и проникаться.. Впитывать в себя.. Как губка водой, как ласточка радуется утру, как светит Солнце - Для всех.
Nããããããõoooooooooooooo.... Isso é espetacular. A energia dessa música é algo louco. Perfeita demais. Melhor música de todas. Melhor banda. Melhor guitarra. Melhor guitarrista.
I was there too. And they were even better in 98 at the Bradley Center too. 98 Was all LZ hits start to finish. Will never see a better concert I'm sure.
I am as big a Zeppelin fan and Jimmy Page fan as anyone . Of course Jimmy is NOT the most technically perfect guitarist , not even close but ...it's very hard to find any guitarist that puts as much emotion into his playing as Jimmy does and furthermore ....Jimmy creates the riff /solo that is perfect for every song he plays ...I can't say the same for a lot of guitarists who might be better technically, but just play mindless solos that have no feeling at all ....to quote someone who commented on Jimmy's brilliant solo in Live in Peace ..live with Paul Rodgers in ..The Firm ..." Jimmy's guitar is bleeding " ..that's what it's all about man ..for me anyway
I am not sure what you mean by "Of course Jimmy is NOT the most technically perfect guitarist". If you mean that he does not sound like Yngvwie Malmsteen or other neo-classical guitar players or that he does not sound like Django Reinhart or George Benson when he plays, I believe that is because he does not attempt to. Every musician travels "a path" that is personal to them and will evetually lead them to a personal style that they like and speaks to them and IS them... a style that they are known for. Eddie Van Halen traveled his own personal path and ended up in place that he can relate to and now sounds like Eddie. Eric Clapton did the same. Malmsteen did the same, Satriani and Gilbert did the same. All of them could play like the others do but in the end, they would be playing a lie. You must play YOUR style.
But then when you hear him play on the rain song, each note is generally so clean and articulate, full of emotion in each version I've ever heard, but not messy. I guess it depends how he's feeling about the moment and the song, but I'll gladly accept whatever he's putting down. I also noticed some highly critical posts of Robert Plant's singing, like somehow he lost it by '95, yet he's still going strong and sounding beautiful as ever. This was just a different iteration, and not my favorite version either, but to say he ''lost it'' is a bit of an overstatement to say the least. These guys are truly iconic treasures, and to hear them ridiculed is funny... and sad.
@@fishboy91 Jim ,I completely agree with you . Jimmy allways was a very explosive choppy guitarist and Played exactly the way he wanted ..I was oinly referring to people who keep saying he was sloppy ...When substance abuse took hold of Jimmy he struggled but I love Jimmy . He is without a doubt the most creative ,brilliant rock guitarist . As I said he plays with all the emotion and soul that he can ..Other guitarists may work on their technical work but most of it is just mindless repetitive nonsense. I meant no disrespect to Jimmy , I love Jimmy and Zeppelin
Still reckon he is past it .rather listen to my records. The pitch is wrong when you watch it just pissing me off. And whot with the bbbbbbbbb has he got a stammer man .lol.
My husband was at this very Milwaukee concert just months before I met him. He passed away recently and when I watch this I can imagine him there watching and listening to his favorite band of all time.
saw this tour in THE GORGE at GEORGE WA. never got to see zeppelin so this is all i have. felt like i was meant to be there. ill never forget it. Robert Plant by far the GREATEST front man EVER................
I’ve seen Robert Plant 4 times in Washington State since 2013. He is still Amazing and he incorporates the songs from Led Zeppelin in his concerts, it’s not the same as Led Zeppelin but he still gets the Led out ! He is a musical genius. ❤️
Tom Brady may be the GOAT NFL QB but make no mistake there is only 1 GOAT rock star and that is Robert plant. Period. Webster dictionary should add it. Rock Star - 2 words - Robert Plant. Not jagger not David lee Roth , not axl rose. Long live ZEP !!!
Certo , anch'io.
Are you serious? he squeaked like he had a nut stuck in his zipper . . . why does everyone try and give him back what he lost? He killed his high end in the early 70's so from 79 on he learned to use his style . . .
Who bought the old mansion of the mystic Aleister Crowley, on the shores of Loch Ness; that introduced enigmatic and occult references in the discs and in their clothes on stage. You could tell a lot about Jimmy Page. But the most important account, in music, about him, would be to show the amount of rock guitarists who have taken from his instrument as many memorable things as Middlesex. Even the greatest of his enemies would have to recognize that in no case does that sum reach five, put recalcitrant metalheads, great sound and statistics distorters, as they get. Page resisted, it seems, in his early youth, to quit his job as a session musician. But he ended up having his corresponding Yardbirds stage, in those chrome exchanges with his friends Beck and Clapton, and then he finally went to make history with Plant, Bonham and Jones. The next seven or eight years are Led Zeppelin writing alone a good piece of the fat book of rock, between riffs like hammering and the folklore of the forests of Britannia. Like drugs and vodka, the inspiration was all of them. From Your time is gonna come to the exceptional Ten years gone. It would be useless to try to enumerate. A different matter is that his million imitators, then, shortly after and now, things did not go the same. A different matter is that, taking LZ and some more as models, hard rock came, as the years went by, to wake up so much, with voices so over-acted and guitars always crying out for absolute prominence, whether or not it came to mind. It's not Jimmy's fault. He was, above all, a creator. Technically his playing was not the most neat, but that doesn't matter at all next to his intuition and his disconcerting inventiveness. He owns Stairway to heaven; Black Dog and That’s the way, The ocean and Tangerine belong to him. He has the treasure, and the key to the chest, and the mansion surrounding the chest with rooms full of Gibson Les Paul, and so on. He is Jimmy Page and the others are not.
Even though this video was 25 years ago, music transcends time and space. I've been rocking to Zeppelin since 1974, I'm 61 now and still enjoy all their songs, stay safe and strong people!
