You know its kinda upsetting that the version of Conner the audience falls inlove with isn't even real. Like he's not Conner, he's what Evan and Jared think Conner would be like.
everybody's talking about how much of a national treasure Mike is but can we just appreciate the guy who plays Jerry and how chaotic neutral he is and that I kind of love him for it
Normally, in Broadway musicals when you end up with an actor originating a role as pivotal and unique as Evan, and its a once or twice in a generation connection of talent and character, as we saw with Platt, it becomes virtually impossible for anyone else to succeed in making the role theirs until a revival comes along 5, 10 or even 20 years down the road. How long did it take to find another "Mama Rose' other than Ethel Merman, or 'Tevye' other than Zero Mostel? Sometimes the role becomes so identified for so long, its impossible to shake. There still is no other King of Siam but Yul Brynner, or Dolly Levy other than Carol Channing. And it has absolutely nothing to do with any lack of ability or talent by the dozen or so actors that follow. You see that Brown here, he is trying to walk that fine line between keeping what worked for Platt, Faist and Roland in this number and trying for baby steps to make the role his own. Its clearly working. He's getting the laughs and he's got the audience with him. That's success right there!
Agreed, it's important to remember that these are actors. Not imitators. They're going to make the role their own. An understudy does not mean underwhelming or underperforming. There are plenty I have preferred to the principle actor. If they weren't capable of delivering an amazing performance then they wouldn't be there. The producers aren't just going to let the show go to hell on some days. So I hope people will keep that in mind. You're there to see a show, not an evening with a particular actor. 👍
I like how Mike in the first few lines just spews out words with no emotion 💀 (and yes I know that’s how it’s supposed to be, I just think it’s funny lol) Omg at 3:53 when Evan and Connor are just like vibin and Jared just kinda stands there for a few seconds and makes a reaction is GOLD And I like this Evan very much! I think his performance was amazing!!
@@joshuabarnett9027ok so you might not believe this. So Connor (Mike Faist character) is actually a kid who committed suicide. Before he did that, he took a note that was written by Evan (The guy in the blue shirt) to himself about his social anxiety. Once his parents found him dead, they saw Evan’s letter with Connor and assumed it was a suicide note to Evan and also assumes he his best friend. Since Evan has so much anxiety, he can’t tell them the truth so this song is him and Jared (The guy in glasses) writing fake notes to make his parents believe that he was best friends with Connor
He once caught a bootlegger recording in the front row when he was playing Jeremy in Be More Chill. He literally approached them and told them to put the camera away in between scenes 😭 and THEY STILL UPLOADED IT

Man everytime I see this part in the musical it makes me so happy until you realize the whole love for Conner is for a Conner that never even existed, it bums me out but I will forever appreciate this performance! And man Jared's laugh at 0:28 is gold
Whenever I’m not doing well, I watch Sincerely Me with Mike as Connor and and Will as Jared, whatever’s available. I don’t care who the Evan Hansen is.
I love the "Dear Evan Hansen thanks for every note you sent"line choreography.(the little punches Connor gives to Evan) Even though it's meant to be interpreted as Connor being playful as friends would do, I personally like to see it a Connor simply being passive agressive,as if his spirit could see them and being aware Evan is spitting utter bullshit but playing along with it. In a kind of " *No you you fucking didn't but ok* " And as if in this song it is actually Connors spirit and he is just being passive agressive about the whole thing (like mocking them about what they are writing about him)and while on that he is getting a kick out of it.
Slightly unrelated but I like that, should we assume that this is fully just Evan trying to imagine how Connor would have been if they were friends, that Evan basically imagines that he’d be hyper aggressive with him. Practically punching him even though he’s being “ playful “ because the only real trait Evan actually saw of Connor before he died was his tendency towards violence ( when he gets thrown to the ground before waving through a window by Connor and Connor screaming at him and shoving past him in the computer lab )
I’ve said this time and time again. But I think I would’ve liked the musical 1000x more if Connor lived and it was about him and Evan having an actual relationship and them forming an epic trio with Jared. It would’ve been so much more entertaining, and I feel like it would’ve made this song more satisfying.
I've watched this video so many times and compared it to the one in the movie... people liked the movie version but it PALED in comparison to this one. The lines were deilivered in a livelier tone here. Also, in this version, Connor and Evan seem to be interacting more, looking at each other, handshakes, etc whereas in the movie Evan and Connor are dancing/sitting next to each other. Yes, there is more background in the movie, but it seemed less spirited, more quiet and in the end, did not create the kind of impact that this one did. Maybe also because Mike Faist is in this one and he conveys a lot of emotions (no disrespect to the actor in the movie)
Agreed. They shoukd have had Mike in the film. I also this this Jared is 100% better. The one in the movie was kind of mean to Evan which gave a different vibe to this scene.
Watch the original musical, your missing out on a whole lotta hit songs the movie taken out! The movie also wasn't the best and reminded me of the (terrible) show 13 reasons why. I really recommend the original musical which you can find the original on RU-vid! You won't regret it bro.
Wtf was I thinking when I wrote this. Anyway I'm not a musical person and also opted for the Heathers movie over the musical. It took me quite a bit to finally watch Hamilton. I think it's my attention span. But I will one day watch the original cuz this was good thx
MIKE'S SNAPS WHEN HE SAYS SMOKING POT ARE LIKE THE ONES THAT RIFF DOES TO SUMMON THE JETSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Thank you for posting this I thought i bought tickets from their actual website and got scammed paid double for tickets and got the 2nd floor of the Tampa theatre. I couldn't even see what the actors looked like because I was so far away.
Every time I watch or listen to DEH I always wish that Connor didn’t end his life and instead became good friends with Evan and was like this version of Connor
I’ve always thought that DEH would’ve been a much better story and musical in general, if Connor lived and had an actual relationship with Evan, and as they deal with their mental health issues they become good friends. It would’ve been so much better than what we got instead tbh…
Amazing video- but be careful. I had one with the OBC, and it got taken down and I had to attend copyright school! Props to you for giving this to us though lol
Thank you. When I uploaded them it gave me a message that the copyright holder would allow me to post it and they would collect the ad revenue. Fine with me. I just thought it would be nice to have a playlist of these awesome actors performing the songs.
