Saw Michael as Evan on broadway and it was one of the best performances I've ever seen. He brought such a real aspect to the character it was even hard to watch at times because it was so real.
"We have to write some fake emails." "Why?" "Sooo... There's this family that's just falling apart because the son died and i kinda lied to them saying that I was his best and only friend. They asked me to show them our 'secret emails', but guess what." "What?" "They don't exist. That's why i want you to help me write them." "But isn't it a little..." "A little what?" "Nah, nothing. Here's the link for the doc."
So there's this mini-play skit thing called "The Solve it Squad" on youtube and one dude plays like 7 characters and has a scene all by himself. it's really funny. you should check it out.
director: so... what role do you want to play?? Michael: *Y E S* edit: HoLy CrUnChY bAtH bOmBs a thousand likes??? I've never gotten this much likes before ;-; Thank you!!
Thanks for highlighting the understudies!! There’s so much talent there. Saw it twice with Ben and once with someone else, but don’t mind seeing it again 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
in the show, connor does small quotations when he says “love,” because we all know his relationship with larry was bad. evan crosses his fingers on “dad” to show he’s lying. it’s a pretty cool detail.
I mean, Evan does love his dad, kinda at least. Like he resents for him leaving him but wants to be close. Connor on the other hand had the opportunity to be close to his dad but won’t say he loves him (he air quotes during this part) and it just adds to the subtle differences between them
I hope it glows to PR, the only Musical I’ve seen is Hamilton wen it came over. I want to see others and DEH is tied with Hamilton for my third favorite musical. So I need to see it.
Saw MLB as Evan when I went to the show earlier this year and he destroyed me so badly (in a good way) that I rushed it later that week and saw Taylor the second time. Two totally different takes on Evan but I loved MLB’s emotion that had me crying front row when he was crying too. Such a good show and performance!
Laura Bentley me too!! The weird part about front row was that I made eye contact with the actors at a bunch of different points, especially towards the end with Michael Park. Like honestly I was bawling so much that by the end I’m convinced he was just checking in on my to make sure I wasn’t a total puddle in my seat.
Michael invented talent. The characters are so perfectly distinct from one another! If you played this audio to someone I bet they wouldn’t realise it’s not three different people.
Met MLB at a theater workshop in Ocean City NJ, he was INCREDIBLE. He was talking about little mannerisms that can make or break a character and was switching from all three leads effortlessly. Amazing guy, so so kind and genuine. Made me and my two brothers jump out of our comfort zones to run scenes and learn the Sincerely Me choreo. Support him with everything you have! Love love love!
We saw Michael as Evan Hansen a month ago, and what a beautiful performance. I've seen Levi and Ben Platt, and all have been so moving and awesome, but I liked that Michael's Evan was truly a kid I could see sitting in my class. Quiet, shy, unassuming and easily stressed and easily overlooked. He gave a really honest and heartfelt performance. Kuddos to all the Evans, but I wanted to give a special shout out to Michael. Keep up the outstanding work!
Had the privilege of seeing Michael perform, and it was amazing. He’s an incredibly strong actor. And for those who don’t know, Michael is an understudy for Evan, Connor, and Jared, but he always plays Evan for the matinees.
Michael Lee Brown was my first Evan when I saw the show on Broadway (I planned my entire summer vacation around going to New York to see DEH). He was absolutely incredible. I love how, even in this video, he plays each character differently. You can totally tell his Evan mannerisms are different from his Connor and Jared ones. Amazing.
I wasn’t so sure about mlb compared to Andrew. I’m seeing deh for the first time with mlb as my Evan. This is absolutely amazing. His vocals are just insane and I can’t wait!!
I saw Dear Evan Hansen on April 2nd and he was absolutely amazing!!! I have loved deh since the beginning and I was so incredibly grateful to see it and it was amazing that he was playing Evan that day because I am such a big fan of him!!!! Anyway I love you Michael Lee Brown!❤️❤️
Me: *starts the beginning* Sister: OOH CAN I BE JARED? Me: uh... Okay Other sister: can I be Evan? Me: .... Fine. Sister #3: I WANT TO BE CONNOR! Me: Oh my-
The understudies often have slight variations on costumes that the usual cast members wear, it’s also not uncommon for costumes to slightly change as a show is on longer
Went to go see Dear Evan Hanson in Buffalo N.Y. last night. Awesome experience it made me happy and all of the songs make since now. 100/10 is my rating.
OMG, this made my day, my week and my year. I love MLB as Evan and flew to NYC last year specifically to see him. Kudos Michael and keep up the great work !!
Me: *singing for the first time with my friends. Particularly this song* The ending is coming One friend: *starts pointing to random people* LOW! HIGH! MIDDLE!! Me in my head: what the hell is this?
to clarify the actor didn't have to film this. he still did. he filmed the whole song singing all the parts for no reason other than he wanted to. i want that level of what the heck attitude in my life.
MLB isn't the understudy for Evan's character, he's the alternate. The difference is he has regular scheduled performances each week. I'm glad to see the channel showcase him!
Great, finally a chance to see DEH for real in London, but parents being massive pains, so Yay. Guess I’ll go break in a glove with an ukelele in the bedroomdown the hall...
