Since kicked out of Malaysia Federation and became independent. It's all been about survival. SG understands that to survive, the region needs to thrives and stability is impt. I also saw him through the Covid pandemic when he was on the frontline to reassure and galvanize a terrified populace! I used to be hellbent against pap (i still have that streak of rebellion though now much mellowed maybe because of advancing age). Watching his purposeful leadership during the Covid years did change me a lot.

As a Hong Kong Chinese, it's sad to see Singapore overtook HK as the financial hub of Asia. 😞😞😞

SG is successful primarily due to our ethnic Chinese majority. Because of geopolitical realities, SG is fond of placing vocal Indian leaders on the frontline to mask our majority ethnic Chinese composition. But when the real crunch comes e.g. Covid pandemic, who do we fall back on? Only the really capable and trustworthy ones step up to the plate like Lawrence Wong, Ong Ye Kung, Chan Chun Sing etc. On the other hand, consider a hypothetical leadership comprising only the likes of Tharman, Iswaran, Vivian Balakrishnan, Janil Puthucherry, Shanmugam, Pritam Singh. What happens? You get such impressive speeches in Parliament and in the media so that the average SG IQ might seem to hit the roof at 140. But then, in a period of crisis or even in peaceful times, I believe SG collapses irreversibly in 2 weeks' time!
